Abstract

本发明揭示了一种电连接器的制造方法,其包括以下步骤:(1)提供一种端子,该端子具有弹性部、与弹性部连接的阻挡部及自阻挡部向下延伸的延伸部;(2)提供一基板,基板设有贯穿其上、下表面的若干通孔;(3)将端子的延伸部穿过基板的通孔,端子的阻挡部抵接于基板的上表面上;(4)通过少量焊料或辅助工具将端子预固定于基板中;(5)将基板倒置使其下表面朝上,通过治具在基板下表面上端子延伸部周围设置焊料;(6)移除所述治具;(7)对所述焊料进行回流处理,之后焊料冷却将端子固定于基板中。通过上述方法可以降低该电连接器的端子高度,实现电连接器低高度的设计要求。

Description

电连接器及其端子及该电连接器的制造方法
【技术领域】
本发明涉及一种电连接器及其端子及该电连接器的制造方法,尤其是一种达成电路板与芯片模块之间电性连接的电连接器。
【技术背景】
现有的电连接器根据芯片模块与端子顶部的接触方式可以分为球状栅格阵列(BallGrid Array)电连接器、针脚栅格阵列(Pin Grid Array)电连接器和平面栅格阵列(LandGrid Array)电连接器。球状栅格阵列电连接器的相关技术可以参考美国专利第5,419,710号,针脚栅格阵列电连接器的相关技术可以参考美国第5,456,613号,平面栅格阵列电连接器的相关技术可以参考美国专利第7,001,197号及第6,957,987号等所揭示。
美国专利第6,957,987号揭示了一种电连接器,该电连接器包括绝缘本体、设于绝缘本体的端子孔内的若干导电端子、框设于绝缘本体外围的加强片、分别可转动组装于加强片的相对两侧的压板及摇杆。
端子为金属薄板冲压成型而形成,其设有平板状的固持部、自固持部向下延伸的焊接部及自固持部向上延伸的弹性部。固持部在其宽度方向的相对两侧设有平直的配合边,两配合边间的宽度大于绝缘本体的固持孔的宽度,小于绝缘本体的收容孔的宽度,两配合边的下端各设有一倾斜的导引边。端子装入端子孔时,两导引边起导引作用,端子装入端子孔后,两配合边与固持孔适当干涉配合,从而可将端子固持于绝缘本体内。焊接部垂直于固持部方向弯折并具有连接于固持部且宽度较固持部窄的部分,焊接部下侧连接有可焊接于电路板上的锡球。固持部上端连接有弹性部,自弹性部上端垂直于固持部方向设有接触部,且接触部露出于绝缘本体的上表面。
然,由于端子具有弹性部、固持部及焊接部,且固持部需要设置与绝缘本体配合的配合边,使端子能稳定固持于端子孔内,因此增加了固持部的长度,从而导致绝缘本体无法降低其高度,使得该电连接器无法实现低高度,进而致使计算器主机无法薄形化。
【发明内容】
本发明所解决的技术问题是提供一种可降低高度的电连接器及其端子及该电连接器的制造方法。
为解决前述技术问题,本发明提供一种电连接器,其包括:基板、组装于基板中的若干端子及锡球。所述基板具有上、下表面及贯穿上、下表面的若干通孔。所述端子包括弹性部、延伸部及连接弹性部与延伸部的阻挡部,所述弹性部位于基板上表面上,所述阻挡部与基板的上表面相抵接,所述延伸部穿过基板的通孔。所述锡球设于基板下表面并包覆于端子的延伸部以将端子固定至基板上。
本发明还提供一种制造上述电连接器的方法,其包括以下步骤:(1)提供一种端子,该端子具有弹性部、与弹性部连接的阻挡部及自阻挡部向下延伸的延伸部;(2)提供一基板,基板设有贯穿其上、下表面的若干通孔,通孔内设有金属垫片;(3)将端子的延伸部穿过基板的通孔,端子的阻挡部抵接于基板的上表面上;(4)将端子预固定于基板中;(5)将所述基板倒置使其下表面朝上,通过治具在下表面上对应延伸部处设置焊料,该焊料覆盖相应的垫片;(6)移除所述治具;(7)对所述焊料进行回流处理,之后焊料冷却将端子固定于基板中。
与相关技术相比,本发明的电连接器提供一种电连接器及端子,还提供一种具有该端子的电连接器的制造方法。该端子无需设置与基板配合的固持结构,因此可以降低端子的高度,进而可以降低该电连接器的高度。

【具体实施方式】
参阅图1和图2所示,本发明揭示了一种电连接器,该电连接器包括基板1、组设于基板1中的端子2、设于端子2底部的锡球3及设于基板1上的收容件4。该电连接器用于达成芯片模块5与电路板(未图示)之间的电性连接。
芯片模块5包括主体51及设于主体51底面的导电片52,该导电片52按压于端子2顶部,与端子2电性连接。
在本发明中所述基板1可使用电路板材质或其它材质,该基板1包括上表面10及与上表面相对的下表面11,基板1上设有贯穿上、下表面10、11的通孔12,通孔12内设有可以导电的金属垫片13。
端子2为线性端子,其包括与芯片模块5接触的弹性部20,与锡球3焊接的延伸部22及连接弹性部20与延伸部22的阻挡部21。所述弹性部20、阻挡部21及延伸部22位于同一平面内,便于制造并且可以减少占用空间,适于端子高密度排列。所述弹性部20位于基板1的上表面10,其大致呈弧形。所述阻挡部21自弹性部20末端向水平方向弯折,大致与弹性部20末端垂直,以抵接于基板1的上表面10上,阻止端子2的弹性部20滑入通孔12中。所述延伸部22自阻挡部21末端垂直向下弯折,穿过基板1的通孔12,并露出基板1的下表面11。该延伸部22与通孔12的内表面之间无相互固定的结构,因此当端子2穿过通孔12,其仍然可以相对于通孔12活动,在突伸出基板1下表面11的延伸部22处焊上锡球3,该锡球3将金属垫片13、下表面11及端子2的延伸部22连接固定在一起,以将端子2固定于基板1中。
收容件4框设于基板1周围,用以收容芯片模块5。在本发明的实施例中该收容件4为一框体41。在框体41的顶面向上凸伸设有若干凸块42,该凸块42设有引导芯片模块5置入的引导面421。本发明的收容件4也可以在框体41内设置若干与端子2对应的收容槽(未图示),以将相邻端子2隔开防止相邻端子2搭接短路。
本发明还提供一种制造上述电连接器的方法,该方法包括如下步骤:(1)提供一种端子2,该端子2具有弹性部20、与弹性部20连接的阻挡部21及自阻挡部21向下延伸的延伸部22;(2)提供一基板1,基板1设有贯穿其上、下表面10,11的若干通孔12,通孔12内设有金属垫片13;(3)将端子2的延伸部22穿过基板1的通孔12,端子2的阻挡部21抵接于基板1的上表面10上,如图4所示;(4)通过少量焊料将端子2预固定于基板1中,如图5所示;(5)将基板1倒置使其下表面11朝上,通过治具6在下表面11上对应通孔12处设置焊料3’,如图6所示;(6)移除所述治具6,如图7所示;(7)对所述焊料3’进行回流处理,之后焊料冷却将端子2固定于基板1中,如图8所示。焊料3’经回流后形成锡球3,并将端子2固定至基板1上。
在上述方法中可以通过多种方式实现第(4)步所述的将端子2预固定于基板1中。在本发明中介绍两种方式将端子1预固定于基板1的通孔12中,第一种方式如图5所示,对电连接器进行波峰焊,在基板1下表面11靠近延伸部22处粘有少量焊料8,以暂时固定端子2,防止端子2在通孔12中旋转;第二种方式如图9所示,在基板1的上表面10组装一罩体7,通过罩体7与端子2的弹性部20抵接,将端子2暂时固定于通孔12内,当基板1的下表面11朝上时端子2不会从通孔12中掉出,当端子2被最终固定于基板1后,移去罩体7。
参阅图3所示,端子2经上述步骤后固定于基板1中,为了准确地将芯片模块5组装于基板1上,可以在基板1外围组装收容芯片模块5的收容件4,使芯片模块5方便准确地组装于基板1上。
本发明的电连接器通过锡球3与电路板(未图示)电性连接。
以上仅为本发明的优选实施方案,其它在本实施方案基础上所做的任何改进变换也应当不脱离本发明的技术方案。

Claims (10)

1.一种电连接器,其包括:基板、组装于基板中的若干端子及锡球,其特征在于:所述基板具有上、下表面及贯穿上、下表面的若干通孔,所述端子包括弹性部、延伸部及连接弹性部与延伸部的阻挡部,所述弹性部位于基板上表面上,所述阻挡部与基板的上表面相抵接,所述延伸部穿过基板的通孔,所述锡球设于基板下表面并包覆于端子的延伸部以将端子固定至基板上。
2.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:所述端子为线性端子,该端子的弹性部、阻挡部及延伸部位于同一竖直平面内,并且端子的弹性部呈弧形,其阻挡部水平延伸并垂直于延伸部。
3.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:所述基板为电路板材质。
4.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:该电连接器还设有一收容件,所述收容件呈框体,其框设于基板的周围,该收容件顶面设有若干向上延伸的凸块,该凸块设有倾斜的引导面。
5.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:所述基板的通孔内设有金属垫片。
6.一种电连接器端子,其包括:弹性部、延伸部及连接弹性部与延伸部的阻挡部,其特征在于:所述弹性部呈弧形;所述阻挡部水平设置并且垂直于弹性部末端;所述延伸部从阻挡部末端垂直向下延伸。
7.如权利要求6所述的电连接器端子,其特征在于:所述端子为线性端子,该端子的弹性部、阻挡部及延伸部在同一平面内。
8.一种电连接器的制造方法,其包括:
(1)提供一种端子,该端子具有弹性部、与弹性部连接的阻挡部及自阻挡部向下延伸的延伸部;
(2)提供一基板,基板设有贯穿其上、下表面的若干通孔,通孔内设有金属垫片;
(3)将端子的延伸部穿过基板的通孔,端子的阻挡部抵接于基板的上表面上;
(4)将端子预固定于基板中;
(5)将所述基板倒置使其下表面朝上,通过治具在下表面上对应延伸部处设置焊料,该焊料覆盖相应的垫片;
(6)移除所述治具;
(7)对所述焊料进行回流处理,之后焊料冷却将端子固定于基板中。
9.如权利要求8所述的电连接器的制造方法,其特征在于:所述端子通过波峰焊与少量焊料焊接以将端子预固定于基板中防止端子旋转。
10.如权利要求8所述的电连接器的制造方法,其特征在于:在所述基板上设置收容并抵接端子弹性部的罩体,以暂时将端子固定于基板中。
