技术领域
本发明涉及一种用于在眼科处置(procedure)中使用的激光探针,更具体地涉及一种用于在光凝术中使用的多斑(multi-spot)激光探针。
背景技术
在解剖学上,眼睛分成两个不同部分,即前节和后节。前节包括晶状体并从角膜的最外层(角膜内皮)向晶状体囊的后面延伸。后节包括位于晶状体囊后面的那部分眼睛。后节从前玻璃体面向视网膜延伸,玻璃体的后玻璃体面与该视网膜直接接触。后节比前节大得多。
后节包括玻璃体--清晰、无色、胶状物质。它构成眼睛体积的约三分之二,其形状在出生之前形成。它由1%的胶原质和透明质酸钠及99%的水组成。玻璃体的前边界是前玻璃体面,该前玻璃体面接触晶状体的后囊,而后玻璃体面形成其后边界并与视网膜接触。
黄斑变性(macular degeneration)是主要在中老年人中发现的医学疾病,其中称为视网膜黄斑区的眼睛内层的中心变薄、萎缩,并且在某些情况下充血。这可能导致中央视觉的丧失,由此使得不能看清细节、阅读、或识别人脸。根据美国眼科学会,目前在美国对于年龄超过五十的那些人来说这是中央视觉丧失的主要原因。
当视网膜下面的血管出血时,引起一种黄斑变性,称为湿性黄斑变性。在某些情况下,使用称为光凝术的处置来使这种出血停止或减慢。光凝术这种技术被视网膜外科医生用来治疗许多眼睛疾病,其中之一是渗出性(湿性)黄斑变性。在此治疗中,将激光射线导向眼睛中,集中于在视网膜下面生长的异常血管。此激光灼烧血管以将其封住而不再渗漏,从而希望防止进一步的视觉丧失。
使用具有一个发射束斑的标准激光探针,眼外科医生通常在其于视网膜表面上扫描光束时用脚踏板以射速接连地开启和关闭激光光束以便在视网膜上产生光凝激光灼斑的一维或二维阵列。使用单束激光探针,可能需要很长时间来用光凝斑覆盖期望的视网膜区域。
多斑激光探针潜在地能够缩短产生期望的激光灼斑图案所需的时间。然而,如果使用已在其最大激光功率设定下工作的具有有限激光光束功率的激光器,则多斑激光探针可能不一定缩短产生期望激光灼斑图案所需的时间。这是因为固定的激光功率P分配在N个束斑之间,因此给定束斑中的功率平均仅为P/N。因此,为了产生等效的灼伤,所需的曝光时间大约是单束激光探针的曝光时间的N倍。因此,虽然只存在来自单束探针的所需激光火数目的1/N,但每个射束火的曝光时间是单束探针的N倍。因此,产生灼斑阵列的总时间仍然相同。
然而,现在存在可用的新光凝激光器,诸如Alcon Laboratories公司的NGL(下一代激光器),其产生理想光凝斑的期望光束强度是最大可用光束强度的一小部分f。如果f等于1/N,则可以在激光光束处于最大功率水平的情况下使用具有N个发射光束的多斑激光光束,且产生期望凝斑图案的总时间仅仅是用单斑激光探针所需时间的1/N。这缩短了每次手术的总时间,并使得能够在给定的一天中执行更多次手术,促使每次手术的总成本降低。因此,期望使用多斑激光探针来执行光凝。
发明内容

图1是依照本发明的原理的简单光纤到光纤成像系统的截面图。在图1的实施例中,该系统具有两个光纤110、120、以及两个透镜130、140。光纤110发射源自激光源(未示出)的发散光束。由透镜130使该发散光束准直。如通常已知的那样,准直光是其射线平行且具有平面波前的光。在接收光纤120的入射面处,此准直光束被透镜140聚焦成小直径光斑。在这种情况下,透镜130、140各自是平凸非球面透镜。在平凸非球面透镜的情况下,一个表面是平的而另一个表面是凸的且具有精确的非球面以便使光聚焦到最小直径光斑。此类布置提供最小的光束像差,并能够在接收光纤120处得到几近完美的衍射极限激光光斑。

图5描绘了根据本发明的原理的衍射光栅的成像系统。在图5中,该系统包括发射光纤510,两个接收光纤520、530,以及衍射光栅540。在图5中,折射透镜已被移除,并用衍射光栅540来替代。在这种情况下,在光栅540的边缘,需要有约17度的倾斜角(bend angle)(对于放大率为1∶1且NA为0.15的光学系统)。对于小的倾斜角,表面起伏光栅能够实现接近100%的衍射效率,但是随着倾斜角的增大,衍射效率趋向于迅速下降。在这种情况下,可以使用体全息图作为衍射光栅。
图6A和6B分别是混合表面光栅/体全息复用光栅组件的侧截面图和前视图。在图6A中,光栅组件600包括表面起伏光栅层610、粘合层620、体全息层630、以及玻璃衬底640。光栅组件600具有中央(表面光栅衍射)区615、以及周边(体全息衍射)区625。如图6B所示,光栅组件600的形状大体是圆形。
周边(体全息衍射)区625实现体全息。在体全息中,衍射光栅位于全息材料的体块内。体全息适中地对于低倾斜角(例如小于10度)具有低衍射效率且对于较高倾斜角(例如大于10度)潜在地具有100%的衍射效率。
因此,衍射组件600利用中央(表面光栅衍射)区615针对小倾斜角高效地衍射,组件600利用周边(体全息衍射)区625针对较高倾斜角也高效地衍射。使用此类组件600能够在包含于机头或探针的有限体积中得到接近100%的衍射效率。光栅组件600的示例性光束图案在图7中示出。
图8至图10描绘了根据本发明的原理的光纤耦合布置。图8示出耦合器。光学装置位于将激光控制台连接到一次性激光探针的外壳830中。在图8中,光学装置(在这种情况下为透镜130和具有衍射光栅210的透镜,然而可以使用其它光学装置)位于外壳830中。阳型连接器810位于外壳830的一端上,且阴型连接器820位于外壳830的另一端上。在一个实施例中,所述连接器是标准的SMA连接器,但可以采用其它类型的连接器。

Claims (24)
1.一种激光探针,包括:
发射光纤,其用于发射光束;
衍射光学装置,其位于所述发射光纤的发射侧,用于衍射由所述发射光纤发射的光束,使得由所述发射光纤发射的光束被衍射成两个或更多个衍射光束;以及
两个或更多个接收光纤,所述两个或更多个接收光纤中的每一个与所述发射光纤相对地放置,所述两个或更多个接收光纤中的每一个用于接收由所述衍射光学装置衍射的光束,
其中,所述衍射光学装置包括含有表面光栅和体全息光栅的混合光栅组件。
2.权利要求1的激光探针,其中,所述衍射光学装置还包括:
第一透镜;以及
第二透镜,其与所述第一透镜相对地放置,所述第二透镜包括衍射表面。
3.权利要求2的激光探针,其中,所述第一透镜是非球面透镜,而所述第二透镜是具有衍射表面的非球面透镜。
4.权利要求1的激光探针,其中,所述衍射光学装置将由所述发射光纤发射的光束衍射成二维阵列束斑。
5.权利要求1的激光探针,其中,所述衍射光学装置包括衍射光栅。
6.权利要求1的激光探针,其中,所述混合光栅组件还包括:
位于所述混合光栅组件中央的大体为圆形的表面光栅部分,该表面光栅部分用于衍射较低倾斜角的入射光束;以及
围绕所述表面光栅部分的周边放置的大体为环状的体全息部分,所述体全息部分用于衍射较高倾斜角的入射光束。
7.权利要求1的激光探针,其中,所述两个或更多个接收光纤中的至少一个具有弯曲远端。
8.权利要求1的激光探针,其中,所述两个或更多个接收光纤被定位为使得所述两个或更多个接收光纤中的每一个被耦合到由所述衍射光学装置衍射的单个光束。
9.权利要求1的激光探针,还包括:
外壳,其至少部分地容纳所述两个或更多个接收光纤。
10.一种用于激光探针的耦合器,包括:
外壳;
位于所述外壳中的衍射光学装置,用于衍射入射光束,使得所述入射光束被衍射成两个或更多个衍射光束;
第一连接器,其位于所述衍射光学装置的一侧;以及
第二连接器,其位于所述衍射光学装置的另一侧,
其中,所述衍射光学装置包括含有表面光栅和体全息光栅的混合光栅组件。
11.权利要求10的耦合器,其中,所述衍射光学装置还包括:
第一透镜;以及
第二透镜,其与所述第一透镜相对地放置,所述第二透镜包括衍射表面。
12.权利要求11的耦合器,其中,所述第一透镜是非球面透镜,而所述第二透镜是具有衍射表面的非球面透镜。
13.权利要求10的耦合器,其中,所述衍射光学装置将由所述发射光纤发射的光束衍射成二维阵列束斑。
14.权利要求10的耦合器,其中,所述衍射光学装置包括衍射光栅。
15.权利要求10的耦合器,其中,所述混合光栅组件还包括:
位于所述混合光栅组件中央的大体为圆形的表面光栅部分,该表面光栅部分用于衍射较低倾斜角的入射光束;以及
围绕所述表面光栅部分的周边放置的大体为环状的体全息部分,所述体全息部分用于衍射较高倾斜角的入射光束。
16.权利要求10的耦合器,其中,所述第一和第二连接器是SMA连接器。
17.权利要求10的耦合器,其中,所述第一和第二连接器中的至少一个包括用于使光纤对准的机构。
18.一种眼科激光探针,包括:
发射光纤,其用于发射光束;以及
衍射光学装置,其位于所述发射光纤的发射侧,用于至少将由所述发射光纤发射的光束衍射成两个或更多个衍射光束,使得由所述发射光纤发射的光束被衍射成两个或更多个衍射光束,
其中,所述衍射光学装置包括含有表面光栅和体全息光栅的混合光栅组件。
19.权利要求18的激光探针,其中,所述衍射光学装置包括衍射光栅。
20.权利要求18的激光探针,其中,所述混合光栅组件还包括:
位于所述混合光栅组件中央的大体为圆形的表面光栅部分,该表面光栅部分用于衍射较低倾斜角的入射光束;以及
围绕所述表面光栅部分的周边放置的大体为环状的体全息部分,所述体全息部分用于衍射较高倾斜角的入射光束。
21.权利要求18的激光探针,其中,所述衍射光学装置包括具有准直能力的衍射光栅。
22.权利要求18的激光探针,还包括:
外壳,其至少部分地容纳所述发射光纤。
23.权利要求18的激光探针,还包括:
套管,其至少部分地容纳所述发射光纤。
24.权利要求18的激光探针,还包括:
位于所述套管中的置中圆筒,该置中圆筒用于将所述发射光纤置中于所述套管中。
