背景技术
探测睡意是重要的,因为睡意影响广泛范围的设备的操作员的能力,这些设备包括机动车辆、航空器、船艇及工业设备。

美国专利6102870使用诸如固视和跳视的眼跟踪器数据来推断诸如细看、阅读、搜索、思考的精神状态和选择的意图。该系统增强了计算机软件的响应度。 
美国专利6346887使用基于视频的眼睛跟踪系统,其跟踪眼睛活动和瞳孔直径及位置,以产生描绘能够用于估计警戒的眼睛活动的信号。 
本发明的目的是提供WO03/039358中公开的类型的改善的警戒监视器,其能够处理无能力。 
发明内容
为达此目的,本发明提供一种用于监视无能力(incapacity)的系统,其包括: 
a)测量眼睛和眼皮运动的装置; 
b)连续地记录测量结果的存储装置; 
c)数据处理器,用于分析眼睛或眼皮运动,以获得对眼睛静止和/或眼皮闭合的持续时间的测量并测量与用于警戒对象的预定的值的偏差; 
d)报警装置,由达到预定的值的测量结果触发。 
有时,驾驶员会是明显地直接向前看着,他们的眼睛大大睁开,但是他们的注意力实际上集中在别处(例如产生压力的闯入的思考)。可选地,在瞌睡的状态,他们可以使他们的眼睛睁开,但是不看任何东西并且意识不到任何东西。这些状况都不能够被视频相机探测到。然而,WO03/039358中公开的红外探测系统能够连续地测量睡意水平。当车辆在移动或机器在操作时,应该触发报警的“分心”的最佳持续时间是2至5秒的量级。 
WO03/039358中公开的红外探测系统还能够测量没有眼睛或眼皮运动的时间段。延长的眼睛静止是“无能力”的好的标志。每分钟眼睛静止的平均持续时间(DOQ)是包括扫视、眨眼、前庭-眼运动等的任何种的相继的眼睛和眼皮运动之间的间隔的平均值。对许多对象,相对长的眼睛静止时间段是典型的瞌睡状态。此发明部分基于对道路上的卡车驾驶员和实际驾驶火车的火车驾驶员的该间隔的持续时间的分析。驾驶员通常每秒钟进行数次某种眼睛或眼皮运动(扫视、眨眼、前庭-眼运动等)。 
超过约6秒的眼睛静止时间段是很少的,并且在此发明中用作用于“潜 在的无能力”报警的触发。优选地,其后跟随通过要求在给出报警后驾驶员尽快按按钮的进一步的具体的测试。这将克服偶然的假阳性报警和不恰当地施加刹车的问题。由不是由无能力引起的偶然的眼睛静止的延长的时间段引起的报警能够通过操作员向潜在的无能力报警提供恰当的响应被容易地消除。 
由眼睛静止触发的每个潜在的无能力报警触发要求来自操作员的响应。操作员的该动作表示报警是假阳性的,并且会视情况而定将操作员的注意力集中回到驾驶或机器操作的任务上。 
如果操作员不响应,则能够实施应急程序。应急程序会根据操作的车辆或机器的类型变化,并可以包括刹住车辆以使其停止和/或传输报告至中央控制台。 
从而,在另一方面,本发明提供一种控制车辆或机器的方法,其中通过如下步骤监视操作员: 
a)连续地监视操作员的至少一只眼睛中的包括扫视和眨眼的一个或多个眼睛和眼皮运动; 
b)分析所述眼睛和眼皮运动,以获得对眼睛静止的测量并测量与用于警戒对象的预定的值的偏差;

使用包括视频或数字相机技术的任何合适的技术来标识和测量恰当的眼睛运动可以监视眼皮运动和扫视。然而,WO03/039358中公开的设备和算法是优选的。

具体实施方式
本发明中使用的眼睛监视设备与发明人更早的专利申请WO03/039358中描述的那种相同。WO03/039358描述了在两只眼睛上具有传感器(IR-LED和光电晶体管)的眼镜。其原因是双眼协调随睡意改变,其使得必须从两只眼睛记录。然而,基于发明人的进一步研究,似乎随着睡意的进行,双眼协调的测量变得更不精确。从而,在不要求双眼协调的测量的地方,对所有其它参数,从一只眼睛的记录是足够的。 
现在优选地安置两个红外发射器和至少一个光电晶体管探测器位于一只眼睛以下的下眼镜架部件上。在装配器件到个体时,给该个体选择提供最好信号的发射器。 
当前,用于监视睡意的视频相机方法具有实践和理论的问题。如果相机的帧速率能够提高到约500Hz(其容许测量速度和AVR),则一些理论问题在将来可以客服。此时,红外发射和探测是优选的技术。 
图1是4个小时中两个火车驾驶员中没有眼睛或眼皮运动的59310个间隔的频率柱状图。图2是6个小时中七个汽车驾驶员中没有眼睛或眼皮运动的141278个间隔的频率柱状图。如从图1和2示例的调查结果能够看到的,4或5秒或更长时间的眼睛静止时间段足够少,使得要求来自操作员的响应的报警不是太频繁而令人讨厌和烦恼。能够通过对每种类型的车辆或机器的驾驶员或操作员进行初步采样调查来确定恰当的时间。 
图3是根据本发明的设计用于火车上的无能力监视器的操作的流程图。 
循环程序的第一步是检查是否佩戴带有发射器和探测器的眼镜架。如果没有佩戴它们且火车在预设的最小速度(诸如在档场)以上,则给出报警提示火车驾驶员带上眼镜。如果没有收到响应,则给出刹车报警,并且然后,如果没有给出响应,则火车的刹车系统自动致动。 
当探测到眼睛静止的时间段大于预定的时间段时,提供要求火车驾驶员按下按钮的报警,并且此响应返回探测器到正常的探测循环。 
如果在恰当的预定时间段(约2秒)内没有给出响应,则火车刹车系统致动。 
如果没有探测到大于预定的最大值的眼睛静止的时间段,则不给出报警。 
能够通过选择将提供较少的报警且不会增加事故的风险的值来确定眼 睛静止的时间段和响应所需的时间。 
从以上描述,能够看到本发明提供了无能力的独特的测量和操作机器或车辆的人的能力的可靠的预测器。

Claims (7)

1.一种用于对机器或车辆操作员的无能力进行监视的系统,包括:
a)用于测量所述操作员的至少一只眼睛的、包括扫视在内的眼睛运动和包括眨眼在内的眼皮运动中的一个或多个的装置;
b)用于连续地记录测量结果的存储装置;
c)数据处理器,用于分析所述眼睛或眼皮运动,以获得眼睛静止的时间段和/或眼皮闭合的持续时间的测量;
d)潜在的无能力报警装置,其由达到预定值的所述测量结果触发,其中,当探测到眼睛静止的时间段大于预定的时间段时,触发所述潜在的无能力报警装置。
2.如权利要求1所述的系统,其中,所述用于测量的装置是数字或视频相机。
3.如权利要求1所述的系统,其中,所述用于测量的装置包含至少一个安装于眼镜架上的红外发射器和也安装于该眼镜架上的至少一个红外探测器。

7.一种对机器或车辆操作员的无能力进行监视的方法,包括以下步骤:
