背景技术
移动电话以及相似的通信设备正在迅速扩展用途和功能。这些设备不久将提供多种服务,除了电话通信之外,例如互联网访问、个人信息管理、传真、成像、消息传送和视频会议。要实现这个,需要提供能够兼容移动设备将适用的更多复杂应用的键区、功能键和显示器。在维持移动设备所需的紧凑尺寸的同时,很难提供例如标准QWERTY打字键钮阵列的完全功能文本键盘。对能够显示通过这些设备可取得的大量不同信息的显示器屏幕的需要也提出了同样的难题。目前市场上的这种设备很笨重,并且总是需要多个设备以获得全系列功能,即个人数字助理与移动电话。
随着这样的多功能电子设备的引入,设计使得用户能够访问在小型手持设备中可用的多种功能和应用的用户接口已经越来越难。特别的挑战在于提出一种简单和有效的手段,用户通过该手段可以与用于在多组功能选择中进行浏览、选择并操作的设备进行通信。用户接口通常包括:键区和显示器屏幕,键区用于输入数据和命令,显示器屏幕用于呈现与所选功能的操作有关的信息。由于期望键区和显示器都尽可能大,以便于使用和观看,因此键区和显示器不断竞争在设备上的空间。当提供完全功能键盘(例如QWERTY型的键盘)很有利时,这变得尤其困难。
本发明的目的在于提供安装在盖部分上的键盘,来最大化对显示器和键盘两者的空间分配。
本发明的目的在于提供简单便宜的全功能移动通信设备,其能够通过使用单个设备来访问许多服务。本发明的另一目的在于将个人数字助理与移动电话合并在最小尺寸的实用包装中。本发明的另一目的在于提供一种文本键盘和显示器的布置,使得两者的尺寸都最大化。
发明内容
多功能电子设备被设置有通信部分,其适用于作为蜂窝电话、个人数字助理(PDA)和例如数字照相机的其他模式的独立操作。触敏显示器提供使得所述通信部分能够在独立的基础上进行操作的用户接口,所述通信部分封入操作组件以允许所提供的功能。盖部分被构造有接纳器,所述通信部分可以插入所述接纳器。上翻面板被枢轴地安装在所述盖部分上,以当一旦所述通信部分在所述盖部分之内时就向所述通信部分提供可视且物理的访问。
为了增强所述通信部分的PDA功能的文本输入能力,在所述上翻面板的内表面上构造完全文本键盘,从而使得当打开时能够用于文本输入。当所述通信设备插入到所述盖部分中时,所述通信设备被可操作地连接到所述键盘。
根据本发明一方面,所述键盘被枢轴地安装在所述盖上,允许其被打开基本上180°到操作位置,从而靠在处于稳固支撑位置处的所述盖部分的邻接部件上。
根据本发明另一方面,当所述键盘处于其操作位置时,所述触屏显示器是可视的,并且结合所述完全文本键盘来操作,以平行于所述键盘的纵向轴地显示文本。在本发明的另一方面,在该位置处,所述显示器被构造为向上枢转以提供在人机工程学上与所述键盘方便的定向。
根据本发明另一方面,所述通信设备可以被插入到所述盖部分中,并且所述键盘闭合以保护所述触屏显示器。窗口在战略位置处被构造在所述盖中,以允许观看用于通信或照相功能的图象和数据。

具体实施方式
附图中示出结合有本发明的特征的多功能电子设备10,例如组合PDA/蜂窝手机。尽管将参考附图中所示的实施例来描述本发明,但应理解本发明可以具有许多替换形式。另外,可以使用任何合适的尺寸、形状或元件或材料类型。
如图1和2所示,以两部分构造本发明的多功能设备10:独立可操作的通信部分1和盖部分2。通信部分1以各种已知配置封入设备的组件,以提供多种功能和应用。这些组件包括,例如,微处理器、移动电话收发器、PDA、显示器驱动器固件、存储器和取决于提供给用户的特征的其他处理器组件。在优选实施例中这些特征包括移动电话、PDA和照相机。通信部分1被构造有触屏显示器3和用于照相机特征、开关机和其他基本功能的操作的接口按键和按钮4。触敏屏幕2可以被配置为提供用于PDA和电话特征的用户接口。
盖部分2被构造有基部5,基部5具有用于接纳通信部分1的接纳器6。如图3所示,盖部分2具有上翻盖7,其通过铰链8枢轴地连接到基部,与插孔6邻接。盖7能够在打开位置与另一位置之间运动,其中在所述打开位置处盖7靠在盖部分2背面的平台9上,在另一位置处所述盖至少部分地延伸在接纳器上方。接纳器6包括开口20,其允许与盖7的位置无关地插入通信部分1。完全文本键盘11被安装在盖7的相对于覆盖位置的内表面12上。键盘11在盖7完全打开的位置处可用,并且被平台9稳固地支撑。
由于多功能设备10的操作组件被包含在通信部分1中,当通信部分1啮合到盖部分2中时提供电连接。这使得键盘11能够完全可操作地结合触屏显示器3。
在替换实施例中,通信部分2能够在在两个操作位置上啮合到覆盖位置,一个操作位置是如图4所示的完全插入位置,另一个是如图4中的虚线所示的枢转位置。在完全插入位置处,显示器屏幕3可以不完全可视,并且显示部分因此被限制在特定范围。在枢转位置处(见虚线13),触屏显示器可以被向上翘起以提供人机工程学的定向,例如θ角处于100°到170°。在该位置处,显示器3被完全暴露,并且可以被配置为提供对键盘11的完全显示。通过这种方式,在多功能设备中对于键盘和显示器的空间分配在该设备的限度内被最大化,而不会损害任一组件的功能。
在本发明的替换实施例中,窗口12可以被构造在背台9中,以提供对显示器屏幕2的一部分的可视访问。显示器2可以被配置为提供用于照相机或蜂窝电话特征的显示接口,由此使得能够使用这些特征而无需从盖部分2移去部分2。
在操作中,如图5所示,图1-4的多功能通信终端10包括组件系统,这些组件通过主控制器15在操作上被互连,以提供照相机16、PDA17和移动电话18的组合功能。主控制器15被存储器19支持,并且处理来自移动电话模块18、照相机模块16和PDA模块17以及其他用户接口组件的数据和命令。设备10的主用户接口包括触敏显示器3和功能键和按钮4。显示器3具有相关联的驱动器21。触敏显示器屏幕是可操作的,从而支持用于例如与键盘11相关联的PDA功能的数据输入,和数据或图象显示模式以支持其他功能。浏览键和软键4按需提供第二用户接口。控制器15提供PDA17的操作功能,并且协调键盘11和显示器屏幕3的操作。
显示器驱动器21在操作上被关联于显示器屏幕3,以使得所显示的数据在显示器屏幕3上被纵向取向,与键盘11平行。通信部分1在盖部分2中的插入促使控制器15激活键盘11,并且致使显示器驱动器21对所显示的数据相应地进行取向。显示区域的尺寸还可以根据对于不同啮合位置的可用空间来协调,所述不同啮合位置即通信部分1在盖部分2中的完全插入或枢转位置。此外,当所述通信部分1被完全插入并且盖7被闭合时,显示区域可以被配置为与窗口14所暴露的显示器3的区域相一致。
应理解,上述描述仅是本发明的示例性的。在不脱离本发明的情况下,本领域技术人员可以设计各种替换和修改。相应地,本发明意指包括落入所附权利要求的范围内的所有这样的替换、修改和变型。

Claims (10)

1.一种用于多个应用的电子设备,包括:
具有上表面和下表面的通信部分,所述通信部分适用于封入多个电子组件,所述多个电子组件被配置为提供用户能选择的多个功能;
盖部分,其具有被构造在其中以适用于接纳所述通信部分的接纳器,并且具有能够在打开位置和另一位置之间运动的盖,在所述另一位置处所述盖延伸在所述接纳器上方以因此提供至少部分的覆盖;
显示器屏幕,其被安装在所述通信部分的上表面上,以与所述多个电子组件在操作上相关联地显示数据和图像;
键盘,其被安装在所述盖上,并且在所述打开位置处可用,当所述通信部分位于所述接纳器中时在所述接纳器中的装置将所述通信部分连接到所述键盘,由此所述键盘与所述显示器可操作地相关联,以允许在所述显示器屏幕上输入和显示数据和图像。
2.如权利要求1所述的用于多个应用的电子设备,其中,所述显示器屏幕被布置为:与所述通信部分的上表面基本上是同延的,以最大化可以显示数据和图像的潜在区域。
3.如权利要求1所述的用于多个应用的电子设备,其中,所述显示器屏幕是触敏的。
4.如权利要求1所述的用于多个应用的电子设备,进一步包括:控制器,其适用于协调所述显示器的操作与所述键盘的操作,从而使得当使用所述键盘时,与所述键盘平行地对所显示的数据和图像取向。
5.如权利要求1所述的用于多个应用的电子设备,其中,所述通信部分能够被完全插入到所述盖部分的接纳器中,并且所述显示器的至少一部分是可视的,以用于显示使用所述键盘输入的数据。
6.如权利要求1所述的用于多个应用的电子设备,其中,所述通信部分通过联接器被连接在所述接纳器中,所述联接器允许所述通信部分被枢转,其中整个显示器是可视的并且能够被定向在人机工程学的角度处。
7.如权利要求1所述的用于多个应用的电子设备,其中,所述盖部分被构造有背面的台部件,所述台部件部分地限定所述接纳器,并且所述盖被枢轴地安装在所述台部件上以允许所述盖从延伸在所述接纳器上方的位置枢转到这样的位置处,即所述盖被枢转到靠在所述台部件上并且所述键盘可用的位置。
8.如权利要求1所述的用于多个应用的电子设备,其中,所述键盘包括完全功能QWERTY阵列键。
9.如权利要求7所述的用于多个应用的电子设备,其中,所述台部件被构造有窗口,通过所述窗口所述显示器的至少一部分可视,并且所述显示器被控制为根据当所述通信部分在所述盖部分中时的可用功能来提供数据和图象。
10.如权利要求1所述的用于多个应用的电子设备,其中,所述通信部分在功能上独立于所述盖部分。
