在形成流体线路系统一部分的中空刚性管34的一端处形成凸构件30。使用中,杆14连接到也为上述流体线路系统一部分的柔性管道或软管36。连接器主体12和凸构件30可连接以在流体线路中形成持久但可分离的接合。凸构件30包括在与开放管端或管末梢42相距给定距离处的径向扩展的镦粗部38,镦粗部38限定径向对接表面40。管端42可呈圆形或锥形,以使凸构件30难度较小地插入连接器主体12。由所述管的外表面限定大致圆柱形的光滑密封表面44,该密封表面44在镦粗部38与管端42之间延伸。所述管沿远离所述管端的方向继续延伸而超出镦粗部38,并限定基本光滑的圆柱形表面46。圆柱形表面46与圆柱形密封表面44直径大致相等。
图2-4中详细图示杆14。杆14优选由可注模成型的非金属聚合物材料制成。杆14更优选由耐热塑料(传导性的PPA热塑性材料)制成。杆14由大致圆筒状的阶台式壁48限定。如图4所示,壁48的内表面限定对中围绕纵向中心轴线52的通孔50。应注意的是,在此使用的术语“轴向(形容词)”和“轴向(副词)”表示沿中心轴线52进行纵向移动。术语“径向(形容词)”或“径向(副词)”表示沿垂直于轴线52的方向接近和远离该轴线。
杆14的孔50从杆14的盖连接端56处的开口54延伸至软管连接端58,从而完全穿透所述杆。杆14的壁48的内直径的变化,限定了孔50,并将该孔分为若干不同部分。从盖连接端56向后移动至软管连接端58,上述若干不同部分依次为:密封腔部分60、管端承接部分62、流体通路部分64。所述杆进一步限定在盖连接端56处的向前朝向的环状表面57。所述杆的环状对接表面57适于接合主保持器26,以限制主保持器相对于连接器主体12轴向向后运动。应注意的是,在此使用的术语“向后”表示大致沿中心轴线52从盖连接端56朝向软管连接端58的轴向方向。术语“向前”表示大致沿中心轴线52从软管连接端58朝向盖连接端56的轴向方向。
密封腔部分60由止于径向肩部68的圆筒状密封表面66限定。脊部70在圆筒状密封表面66与开口54之间轴向定位,并将轴衬24保持处于密封腔部分60中。密封腔部分60容纳O形环18和20。O形环18和20被轴向保持在密封腔部分60中,一端由轴衬24保持而另一端由径向肩部68保持。
孔50的管端承接部分62从密封腔部分60轴向向后定位。管端承接部分62被直径减小的圆筒状管容纳表面72限定,管容纳表面72从径向肩部68的小直径端轴向向后延伸至锥形肩部74。圆筒状管端容纳表面72在尺寸上设计为容纳并且引导或者说导引凸构件密封表面44。
流体通道部分64由壁48的直径最小的内表面限定。流体通道部分64从锥形肩部74的小直径端延伸至软管连接端58。
杆14的外表面在接近盖连接端56处包括径向向外延伸的边缘76。环状肋78从边缘76的前表面轴向向前延伸。环状肋78的径向内表面80和径向外表面82呈锥形,从而允许在肋78与在盖16中限定的对应槽之间进行紧密装配。杆14的外表面在接近软管连接端58处被设置为易于连接到流体线路中的另一部件,例如柔性软管36。举例而言,图1-4中所示的杆14专门形成有用于将软管紧固到所述杆的卷边束套84。使用卷边束套来将柔性软管紧固到连接器主体的端部,这是已知的并在向Ketcham等人共同转让的美国专利6,312,020中公开,该专利通过引用并入于此。可替代地,如图5中所示,杆14可形成有径向钩86和槽88,以容纳O形环密封件,从而紧靠软管内部进行密封。
必须理解的是,在不背离本发明的情况下杆14可采用任何所希望的形状。杆14也不必非直不可。例如,杆14在其两端之间可具有45度或90度的弯曲部。
图6-10中详细图示盖16。盖16优选由耐热塑料(传导性的PPA热塑性材料)制成。杆14和盖16优选由相同材料制成。
盖16限定居中围绕纵向中心轴线92的通孔90。孔90从所述盖的管承接端96处的入口94延伸至杆连接端98,从而完全穿透盖16。盖16包括大致圆筒状的壁100。凸缘102从圆筒状壁100径向向内延伸并限定入口94。凸缘102进一步限定远离入口94而朝向孔90的向后朝向的环状对接表面103。所述盖的环状对接表面103适于接合副保持器28,以限制主保持器26和副保持器28相对于连接器主体12轴向向前运动。
顶槽104和底槽106延伸穿过圆筒状壁100并向孔90开放。在圆筒状壁100与杆连接端98之间径向定位有径向扩展部分108。径向扩展部分108限定从杆连接端98向前延伸的环状槽110。限定槽110的下表面112和上表面114均以一定角度倾斜,该倾斜角度与肋78的径向内锥形表面80和外锥形表面82的对应角度基本相等。这就允许肋78紧密装配于槽110中。一对H形突出部116和118从圆筒状壁100径向向外延伸,并在盖16两侧处从径向扩展部分108轴向向前延伸。H形突出部116和118承接并定位拉式突出检验器32。盖16进一步限定从凸缘102延伸至杆连接端98的对准槽120。对准槽120适于承接副保持器28的对准突部。
应注意的是,为清晰起见,快速连接器接头10被显示为纵向延伸而定位在水平面中,并在描述盖16时已经使用了术语“顶”、“底”和“侧”。应理解的是,“顶”和“底”的配置与槽104和106相关联;而“侧”配置与H形突出部116和118相关联。不过,在使用中,连接器接头10可处于任何朝向,而与水平面和竖直面无关,且“顶”、“底”和“侧”仅仅相对于此处的图示。
主保持器26在图11-14中得到详细图示,并优选由金属材料制成,更优选由不锈钢制成。主保持器26包括基本上非柔性的环122和从环122轴向向前定位的两个圆周向分开的臂124。环122的外直径优选大于杆14的开口54的直径。每个臂124包括径向内节段126和径向外节段128。径向外节段128从环122轴向向前且径向向外延伸。后弯曲部130将径向内节段126与径向外节段128相连。支具132从径向内节段126的每个圆周向侧沿圆周延伸,以提供额外强度来防止主反应器26弯曲变形。径向内节段126包括凸缘134,其适于邻接凸构件30的镦粗部38。圆筒状套筒136从环122轴向向后延伸。套筒136为凸构件30提供引导。
副保持器28在图15-19中得到详细图示,并优选由金属材料制成,且更优选由不锈钢制成。副保持器28包括基本上非柔性的环140和从环140轴向向后定位的两个圆周向分开的臂142。环140的外直径优选大于盖16的入口94的直径。臂142从环140轴向向后且径向向内延伸。每个臂142包括凸缘144,其适于邻接凸构件30的镦粗部38。凸缘144径向向外弯曲以允许具有大表面面积来接触镦粗部38。圆筒状套筒146从环140轴向向后延伸。套筒146为凸构件30提供引导。对准突部148从环140径向向外延伸。对准突部148的尺寸和位置被设置成,其被允许沿着限定在盖16中的对准槽120滑动。副保持器28的对准突部148与盖16的对准槽120相结合,确保副保持器28处于其所希望的转动位置。
在将盖16持久紧固于杆14之前,O形环18和20以及分隔环22被插入杆14的密封腔部分60。随着O形环18和20以及分隔环22正确就位于孔50的密封腔部分60中,轴衬24由此就被插入密封腔部分60,直到其接合脊部70以将轴衬24紧固到杆14。
主保持器26和副保持器28由此就定位在杆14与盖16的凸缘102之间。通过首先将对准突部148与盖16的对准槽120对准,副保持器28插入盖16的孔90中。随着对准突部148与对准槽120对准,副保持器28旋转定向,从而使其臂142处于顶部和底部。然后,副保持器28在孔90中轴向向前滑动,直到副保持器28的环140接触盖16的凸缘102的环状对接表面103。然后,主保持器26插入盖16的孔90中,同时其臂124被引导向前且进行旋转定向,使得其臂124处于侧部并沿圆周向定位于副保持器28的臂142之间。主保持器26插入盖16的孔90中,直到每个臂124的后弯曲部130接触副保持器28的环140。应注意的是,副保持器28的臂142在它们的插入位置处位于顶部和底部,而主保持器26的臂124处于侧部。臂124和142的这种旋转配置使得,一旦凸构件30已经被完全且正确地插入连接器主体12中,则拉式突出检验器24的支脚33就抵触到凸构件30的镦粗部38。对准突部148与对准槽120相结合,确保臂124和142总是旋转定向,以允许拉式突出检验器32抵触到镦粗部38。
随着主保持器26和副保持器28插入杆16的孔50,通过将杆14的环状肋78插入盖16的环状槽110,就将盖16和杆14组装在一起。由于上述组装定位,主保持器26和副保持器28被夹在杆14的向前朝向环状对接表面57与盖16的向后朝向环状对接表面103之间。然后,通过将盖16旋转熔接到杆14,就将盖16持久紧固于杆14,从而形成连接器主体12。一旦盖16被持久紧固于杆14,则孔50和90共同限定连接器主体12的孔,而盖16的入口94限定连接器主体12的入口。
通过在将保持器定位在两个独立工件之间后由两个分立件形成连接器主体12并将这两个工件持久紧固在一起,本不能穿过连接器主体12的入口94而进行装配的保持器能够定位在连接器主体12的孔中并定位在两个相对朝向的环状对接表面75与103之间。这一特征特别有益,原因在于,主保持器26和副保持器28的非柔性环122和140的直径大于连接器主体12的入口94的直径。
本发明的连接器主体12的结构的另一优势在于,即使其由两个独立工件形成,这两个工件接合在一起的位置也不处于连接器主体12的孔或流体路径处。更确切地说,所述杆的环状肋78和所述盖的环状槽110从它们的相应孔50和90(也就是连接器主体12的孔)径向向外定位。通过将环状肋78和环状槽110从流体路径径向向外定位,显著减少了通过所述杆和盖的接合处的渗漏。
应注意的是,虽然通过将杆14的环状肋78插入盖16的相应环状槽110并接着将盖16旋转熔接至杆14而使完成的连接器主体12被持久紧固,不过,如下情况仍在本发明的精神范围内,即,在所述盖上形成边缘和环状肋,并在所述杆上形成环状槽。为进行这种可替换的盖和杆的设计,所述盖的环状肋插入所述杆的对应的环状槽中,并将所述杆旋转熔接至所述盖。
进一步,虽然在组装上述两个部件时,所示实施例的主保持器26和副保持器28插入盖16的孔90中,使得保持器26和28定位在杆14与盖16的环状对接表面103之间,但是也可使用其他结构将保持器定位在杆14与盖16之间,例如将主保持器和/或副保持器插入可替代的轴向纵长杆的孔中。还应注意的是,虽然在组装上述两个部件时,主保持器26和副保持器28在杆14与盖16的环状对接表面103之间定位,不过,可以采用其他类型的保持器来替代保持器26和28而定位在杆14与盖16的环状对接表面103之间,这仍然落在本发明的精神内。举例而言,诸如在共同转让的美国专利5,257,833中公开了一种单件式金属保持器,在组装所述两个部件时,诸如此类的保持器可在杆14与盖16的环状对接表面103之间定位。
一旦所述盖被持久紧固于所述杆,通过将拉式突出检验器的支脚33定位在顶槽104和底槽106中,可使拉式突出检验器32安装在反应器主体12上。然后,通过将凸构件30穿过盖16的入口94插入杆14和盖16的孔50和90而完成接头10。随着凸构件30轴向向后插入孔50和90,凸构件30的圆柱形密封表面44穿过限定在环140中的开口和副保持器28的圆筒状套筒146。
一旦镦粗部38接触主保持器26的臂124和副保持器28的臂142,凸构件30就被阻止进一步轴向向后插入。凸构件30的进一步轴向向后插入使主保持器26的臂124和副保持器28的臂142径向向外弯曲,直到镦粗部38越过主保持器的凸缘134和副保持器28的凸缘144。主保持器26的臂124和副保持器28的臂142于是径向向内卡紧至锁定位置,其中,主保持器的凸缘134和副保持器28的凸缘144与镦粗部38的径向对接表面40呈邻接关系,以防止凸构件30从连接器主体12轴向向前缩回。
与此同时,凸构件30的镦粗部38向外分开拉式突出检验器32的支脚33,以允许拉式突出检验器32以如U.S.No.11/440,753中公开的方式脱离接合,从而提供凸构件30已经完全和正确地插入连接器主体12这种情况的视觉验证。
本发明的各种特征已经参照所显示和所描述的实施例进行了说明。必须理解的是,在不背离由所附权利要求所限定的本发明的精神和范围的情况下,可以进行多种修改。
Claims (12)
1.一种快速连接器接头(10),包括:
连接器主体(12),其限定从一入口(94)轴向向后延伸的通孔(50),所述主体具有径向向内延伸的凸缘(102),该凸缘(102)限定所述入口(94)和向后朝向的环状对接表面(103);
容纳于所述孔(50)中的管(34),其具有径向扩展的镦粗部(38);
设置在所述孔(50)中的主保持器(26),其具有主保持器环(122)和从所述主保持器环(11)轴向向前定位的两个主保持器臂(124),每个所述主保持器臂(124)与所述镦粗部(38)呈邻接关系;其特征在于
设置在所述孔(50)中的副保持器(28),其具有从所述对接表面(103)轴向向后设置并与之呈邻接关系的副保持器环(140)和从所述副保持器环(140)轴向向后定位的两个副保持器臂(142),每个所述副保持器臂(142)沿圆周向定位于所述两个主保持器臂(124)之间并与所述镦粗部(38)呈邻接关系。
2.根据权利要求1所述的快速连接器接头,其特征在于,所述连接器主体(12)限定对准槽(120),而所述副保持器(28)包括从所述副保持器环(140)径向向外延伸的对准突部(148),所述对准突部(148)定位于所述对准槽(120)中。
3.根据权利要求1所述的快速连接器接头,其特征在于,每个所述主保持器臂(124)包括:径向内节段(126)、径向外节段(128)、和将所述径向内节段(126)与所述径向外节段(128)相连的后弯曲部(130),并且所述径向内节段(126)与所述镦粗部(38)呈邻接关系。
4.根据权利要求3所述的快速连接器接头,其特征在于,每个主保持器臂(124)的所述后弯曲部(130)邻接所述副保持器环(140)。
5.根据权利要求3所述的快速连接器接头,其特征在于,每个所述径向内节段(126)包括从所述径向内节段(126)的每个圆周侧沿圆周延伸的支具(132)。
6.根据权利要求1所述的快速连接器接头,其特征在于,所述主保持器(26)进一步包括从所述主保持器环(122)轴向向后延伸的圆筒状套筒(136)。
7.根据权利要求1所述的快速连接器接头,所述连接器主体(12)包括:
杆,其限定轴向延伸的通孔;和
独立的盖,其持久紧固到所述杆,所述盖限定轴向延伸的通孔;
其中,所述杆和所述盖中的一个包括:从所述杆和所述盖中的一个的所述通孔向外定位的轴向延伸的环状肋;并且,所述杆和所述盖中的另一个包括:从所述杆和所述盖中的另一个的所述通孔径向向外定位的环状槽,所述环状肋定位在所述环状槽中;
其中,所述杆和所述独立的盖被紧固到一起,以形成所述连接器主体。
8.根据权利要求7所述的快速连接器接头,其中,所述杆和所述盖中的一个包括径向向外延伸的边缘,所述环状肋从所述边缘轴向延伸。
9.根据权利要求7所述的快速连接器接头,其中,所述盖限定对准槽,所述副保持器包括从所述副保持器环径向向外延伸的对准突部,所述对准突部位于所述对准槽中。
10.根据权利要求7所述的快速连接器接头,其中,所述连接器主体进一步限定另外一个环状对接表面和通向轴向延伸穿过所述连接器主体的通孔的入口;并且所述主保持器和所述副保持器轴向定位在所述连接器主体的两个环状对接表面之间。
11.根据权利要求10所述的快速连接器接头,其中,所述盖具有大致圆筒状的壁和从所述壁径向向内延伸的所述凸缘,所述凸缘限定所述环状对接表面中的一个,并且,所述杆限定所述环状对接表面中的另一个。
12.根据权利要求11所述的快速连接器接头,其中,所述盖限定对准槽,所述副保持器包括径向向外延伸的对准突部,所述对准突部位于所述对准槽中。
