Une forme d'exécution de l'objet de l'in vention est représentée, à titre d'exemple, au dessin annexé dans lequel : . , La fig. 1 en est une vue extérieure, du côté d'un cadran; La fig. 2 est une vue en plan du méca nisme, les organes étant montrés à l'arrêt ou position de non fonctionnement, c'est-à-dire avant remontage; La fig. 3 est une vue en plan du méca nisme, les organes étant montrés en position de fonctionnement, c'est-à-dire à fin de re montage; La fig: 4 est une vue en plan du méca nisme, les organes étant montrés en cours de marche, une dent de la came ayant ac tionné la seconde bascule et l'organe aver tisseur optique étant engagé avec le bec de la première bascule;
Pour le contrôle de la durée d'une con versation téléphonique par un abonné au té léphone, par exemple, cette durée étant divi sée en tranches de trois minutes avec maxi mum total de douze minutes, comme c'est le cas eu Suisse, le fonctionnement de cette forme d'exécution est le suivant En attendant que la communication télé phonique demandée lui soit donnée, l'opéra teur repousse à fond le poussoir 17 qui re pousse la crémaillère 16 le long de sa rainure guide 63 en actionnant ainsi le secteur 13 dans le sens de la flèche e et à l'encontre du ressort 18;
Simultanément et dès le début de cette fonction, la saillie 58 de la tige 72 libère le bras 32 de la bascule 28; cette dernière, sous l'action de son ressort 33, pivote dans le sens de la flèche d et en traîne, par sa goupille 35, la bascule 31 qui pivote dans le sens de la flèche g et dont la lame de frein 36 vient appuyer contre le pourtour lisse du balancier 7 qu'elle empê che ainsi d'osciller, alors que son ressort laine 39 vient, par son extrémité libre, pren dre appui sur la partie segmentaire 41 de la bascule 28;
La rotation de la came 8 continuant, une fraction de minute avant que l'aiguille 11 soit sur la minute trois de la graduation 79 du cadran, la dent 9 suivante, c'est-à-dire celle qui est dans le voisinage immédiat de la goupille-butoir 43, se présente par sa par tie inclinée sous le bec 49 et soulève les deux bascules 24 et 23, et le bec 26 de la bascule 23 vient s'engager avec la goupille 27 de la palette 19 comme le montre la fig. 3;
Warning counter with optical signal, to monitor time intervals such as the duration of telephone conversations. The present invention relates to a warning counter with an optical signal, for monitoring time intervals such as the duration of telephone conversations, comprising a clockwork movement with a mainspring and a balance for actuating at least one time indicating hand. moving on a graduation, a control member of the counter and an optical weaver member, mobile.
According to the invention, the warning meter has the particular feature that a rotary cam with at least one control projection cooperates with two rockers, one of which, the first, is pivoted on the second and comprises a nose capable of engaging with the optical warning device, these two rockers being controlled by a third rocker which allows them to be brought outside the path swept by the projection of the cam, and is capable of being actuated by the control device of the counter, which serves at the same time to arm the mainspring of the clockwork movement and to bring the cam to a determined starting position, the whole arranged in such a way that, when, by means of the control member of the counter, one has armed the mainspring and brought the cam to the starting position, it is possible, by abandoning the said control member,
cause the start of the clockwork movement and such cooperation of the cam with the first two rockers that after a determined period of time, the projection of the cam can first produce, by acting on the second rocker, the engagement of the spout of the first lever with the optical warning member, then, when it abandons said second lever, allow the latter to return and drive, through the spout of the first lever, the member optical warning device to bring it abruptly into the warning position, and finally, by acting on the first lever, release the beak of the latter from the optical warning device to allow it to return to its original position,
changes in the position of the optical warning device corre sponding to fixed times determined indicated by the positions of the indicator hand on its graduation, intended to warn the operator of the imminence and accomplishment of the passage of these times.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing in which :. , Fig. 1 is an exterior view thereof, from the side of a dial; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the mechanism, the members being shown in the stopped or non-operating position, that is to say before reassembly; Fig. 3 is a plan view of the mechanism, the members being shown in the operating position, that is to say at the end of re-assembly; Fig: 4 is a plan view of the mechanism, the members being shown in operation, a tooth of the cam having actuated the second lever and the optical weaver member being engaged with the nose of the first lever;
Fig. 5 is a partial plan view of the mechanism showing the tooth of the cam having abandoned the second rocker and the optical warning device having another zone facing a window of the dial; Fig. 6 is a partial plan view of the mechanism showing the tooth of the cam having actuated the first lever which has abandoned the optical warning member which again presents its first zone facing the window; Fig. 7 and 8 are schematic sections of the mechanism showing the relative positions of the members in the direction of the height of the counter.
In this embodiment, the components of the counter mechanism are mounted on two plates 65, 66 fixed inside a cylindrical box 77 carrying a dial 75; the latter has two graduations, one large, 79, divided into twelve equal parts (each corresponding to one minute) and of which an indicator hand 11, mounted fixed on a central shaft 1, goes around in 12 minutes, and the another small, 80, divided into sixty equal parts of which a hand 76 mounted on a shaft 78 goes around in itself xant seconds.
The rate of these two wings is regulated by a clockwork movement comprising an escapement, a ba lancer 7 and a gear train having three wheels 6, 5 and 4 (fig. 7 and 8), the wheel 4, fixed on the barrel 12, being by this barrel mounted loosely on the central shaft 1, which is only driven by it in the direction of clockwise movement; this dragging takes place by means of a pawl 2 fixed to the wheel 4 and working on a ratchet 3 fixed to the shaft 1. The balance 7 of the escapement has a smooth circumference.
Since clock movements of this type are known, there is no need to go into more detail for this part of the counter mechanism.
On the central shaft 1 are still fixed a pinion 10 and a circular cam 8 with four equidistant teeth 9. These four teeth are similar and equal and each have a part coaxial with the cam and an inclined part on the periphery of the latter. . Pinion 10 is integral with cam 8 to which a stop pin 43 is fixed.
A sector 13 with two teeth 14 and 15 meshes by its teeth 14 with the pinion 10, and is urged to rotate, around its pi vot 64 and in the direction of arrow a (fig. 3), by a coil spring 18 attached, on the one hand, to the end of an arm 71 of the sector, and, on the other hand, to a fixed ankle 70.
This spring 18 is the motor of the clockwork movement and tends to operate the two hands 11 and 76 in the direction of clockwise movement; direction which is that of the operation of the apparatus.
The second toothing, 15, of the sector, in grained with a rectilinear rack 16 which can move in the direction of its length along a rectilinear guide groove 63 made in the plate 65, and at the bottom of which it can be brought (fig. 3), against the spring 18, by a pusher 17 outside the box 77 and carrying a rod 72 terminating in a projection 58 and able to actuate the rack 16. The pous evening 17 is provided with a return spring 44.
A pallet 19 or optical warning member, pivoting around the pivot 59, carries a white indicator zone 20 and a colored indicator zone 21, red for example, which may appear alternately in front of the window 22 of the dial; a pin 55, fixed on the pallet and engaged in an opening 56 of the plate 65, limits the rotational movement of this pallet which is urged by a leaf spring 53 acting in the direction of arrow b and tending to maintain the pallet in the position where the white zone 20 is in front of the window 22 (fig. 1, 2, 3 and 4).
A rocker 23 with spouts 26 and 51 is pi voted in 25 on a second rocker, 24, with spout 49, pivoted at 60, the latter being urged to rotate in the direction of arrow c by a leaf spring 45 fixed on it and resting on a fixed peg 68. Another leaf spring, 50, also fixed on the lever 24, tends to rotate the first lever 23 in the direction of this same arrow c. A pin 27, provided on the pallet 19 in the vicinity of its pivot 59, can come into engagement with the nose 26 of the lever 23, as will be seen later.
A third rocker, - 28, pivoted at 37, first has an arm 32 which can come into engagement with the projection 58 of the pous evening 17, then a long arm 29 which can come into engagement with a pin 34 of the rocker 23, crossing the plate 65 by an opening 88, then an arm 30 carrying a pin 35, and finally a segmental part 41 coaxial with its pivot axis 37. The arm 29 carries a pin 61 against which a leaf spring 33 bears which tends to make turn the rocker 28 in the direction of the arrow d.
A fourth rocker, 31, pivoted at 42, can come into engagement with the pin 35 of the rocker 28 and has an arm 38 at the end of which is fixed a fle xible blade 36 which can come, by the convex surface of a curved part, in contact with the smooth periphery of the balance 7 to stop the latter like a brake. This rocker 31 has a second arm, 40, at the end of which is fixed a wool spring 39 which tends to remain applied against a pin 84 which is also fixed on this rocker, and the free end of which can come in. engagement with the segmental part 41 of the lever 28.
When the counter is in the non-operating or stopped state, that is to say before reassembly, its components occupy the position shown in FIG. 2, position in which the pusher 17 and the rod 72 are completely back under the action of the spring 44, and maintain in its extreme position, against the leaf spring 33, the rocker 28 whose arm 32 is engaged under the projection 58 of this rod 72, this lever 28 not being in engagement with the pin 34 of the lever 23.
The sector 13, under the action of the mainspring 18, maintains the 1st rack 16 applied against the rod 72 and the stop pin 43 of the cam 8 applied against the rectilinear edge 57 of this sector which is thus blocked; indicator hand 11 is then stationary on division 12 of graduation 79, the zero of which corresponds to this division 12; rocker 31 is pressed by leaf spring 47 against pin 35 of rocker 28, its leaf spring 39 is not in engagement with segmental part 41 of rocker 28 and the blade brake 36 that it carries is not in engagement with the balance 7.
Under the action of its spring 53, the pallet 19 presents its white zone 20 in front of the window 22 of the dial 75, its pin 27 not being in engagement with the spout 26 of the lever 23; the two rockers 23 and 24, under the action of their springs 50 and 45, are, by their nozzles 51 and 49, on the path of the teeth 9 of the cam 8; finally, the balance 7 which is not braked by the brake blade 36 is however stopped, the sector 13 being blocked.
For the control of the duration of a telephone call by a telephone subscriber, for example, this duration being divided into three-minute increments with a maximum total of twelve minutes, as is the case in Switzerland, the operation of this embodiment is as follows While waiting for the requested telephonic communication to be given to it, the operator pushes the push-button 17 fully back which pushes the rack 16 along its guide groove 63, thus actuating the sector 13 in the direction of arrow e and against the spring 18;
by this rotational movement, the sector 13 arms the mainspring 18, rotates the pinion 10 which drives, in the direction of arrow f, the cam 8 and the large needle 11 (whose rotation is allowed as we will see ), until, after a complete rotation of these two components, the stop pin 43 of the cam 8 abuts against the rectilinear edge 46 of the sector 13 (fig. 3) blocks the latter and the needle 11 is located on the zero of the graduation 79 of the dial, and this without the wheels 4, 5 and 6 of the clockwork movement being actuated, due to the pawl 2 interposed between the wheel 4 and the ratchet 3.
Simultaneously and from the start of this function, the projection 58 of the rod 72 releases the arm 32 from the lever 28; the latter, under the action of its spring 33, pivots in the direction of arrow d and behind it, by its pin 35, the lever 31 which pivots in the direction of arrow g and whose brake blade 36 comes to press against the smooth periphery of the balance 7 which it thus prevents from oscillating, while its wool spring 39 comes, through its free end, to bear on the segmental part 41 of the lever 28;
at the same time, and by its long arm 29, this rocker 28 drives, against the springs 50 and 45, the two rockers 23 and 24 until the latter abuts against a stop 69, the two nozzles 49 and 51 being brought out of the path laid by the teeth 9 of the cam 8 which can thus perform its complete rotation without obstacle in the direction of the arrow f as we have just seen.
The meter is then at the end of reassembly and ready to operate, the parts of its mechanism occupying the positions shown in fig. 3, and the pallet 19, the position of which has not been modified, still presenting its white zone facing the window 22 of the dial.
As soon as the operator has obtained the requested telephone call, he immediately abandons the pusher 17 which returns backwards, the projection 58, by acting on the arm 32, causes the rocker 28 to pivot in the direction of the arrow k to the against the leaf spring 33, the pin 35 releases the lever 31, the leaf spring 39 of which abruptly abandons the segmental part 41, this lever 31 then swings abruptly in the direction of the arrow i, under the action of the leaf spring 47 , the brake blade 36 abandons the balance 8 by giving it an impulse, the clockwork movement starts up and thus actuates, from time zero, the two indicator pins 11 and 76 and the cam 8 in the direction clockwise movement,
ie in the direction of arrow k (fig. 2). At the same time as the latch 28 releases the latch 31, it also releases the two latch 23 and 24 which re-. come to the position shown in fig. 2, their beaks 51 and 49 being in the path swept by the teeth 9 of the cam 8, one of these teeth being between these two beaks. The meter is running and the functions described have been performed almost instantly.
If, after reassembling, the operator gives the pusher slowly, the effect will be practically the same, because it is only when the spring 39 abruptly abandons the segmental part 41 that the balance 8 is launched. , moment which must correspond to the moment when the conversation begins, and at this moment the two nozzles 49 and 51 are already in the path swept by the teeth 9 and the pusher 11 has only a very small path to go to completely immobilize the rocker 28..
By rotating the cam 8 in the direction of the arrow k, the inclined part of the tooth 9 which is located between the two nozzles 49 and 51 attacks the nozzle 51, causes the rocker 23 to pivot slightly, and the latter resumes its position as soon as the top of this tooth has passed under the nozzle 51, the passage of this first tooth under this lever having no other effect than to lift it.
The rotation of cam 8 continuing, a fraction of a minute before hand 11 is on minute three of the scale 79 of the dial, the next tooth 9, that is to say that which is in the immediate vicinity of the stopper pin 43, is presented by its inclined part under the spout 49 and lifts the two rockers 24 and 23, and the spout 26 of the rocker 23 engages with the pin 27 of the pallet 19 as shown in fig. 3;
then, when the top of this tooth has passed under the beak 49, the latter, under the action of the spring 45, abandons the tooth 9 and the two rockers 23 and 24 resume their position by entrafing through the pin 27 the pallet 19 which pivots in the direction of the arrow = che m and suddenly presents its red zone 21 opposite the window 22 of the dial, as shown in FIG. 5.
By this optical signal the operator is thus warned that the first three minutes of conversation to which he is entitled have soon elapsed, and the rotation of the cam 8 continuing, it is the beak 51 which is raised by the inclined part of the second. tooth 9, and at the precise moment when the needle 11 is on the division 3, the nose 26 of the lever 23 thus actuated abandons the pin 27 of the pallet 19 which is thus released and, under the action of its spring 53; rotates in the direction of arrow 7a and abruptly returns to the previous position shown in fig. 6 where it again presents its white area in front of window 22.
From this moment 1a the operator knows that a second three-minute period will be charged to him and that he thus has three more minutes before him to talk: When the second tooth 9 leaves the nozzle 51, the rocker 23 returns without further to its previous position.
As the rotation of cam 8 continues, the same functions are repeated automatically from three minutes in three minutes to the wise steps of each tooth 9 under the nozzles 49 and 51 of the levers 24 and 23, that is to say at minutes 6 , 9 and 12, and the operator can thus check whether his telephone conversation is single, double, triple or quadruple.
When the four teeth 9 of the cam 8 have actuated the jaws 49 and 51, the cam 8 has made a full turn as well as the needle 11 which is then on the division 12 of the scale 79, the stop pin 43 stops. against the rectilinear edge 57 of the sector 13, the mechanism is again blocked at the stop as shown in FIG. 1, and the counter is ready to be reassembled again for checking a new conversation.
It is obvious that the operator can also push the button fully when he has obtained the communication, and immediately abandon it.
An excess run of a few seconds in addition to the twelve minutes is provided as a safety measure, in order to be sure of the return of the pallet 19 to the position where its white zone 20 is opposite the window 22 of the dial.
The two rockers 23 and 24 and the pallet 19 constitute the warning device, the cam 8 of which is the control member; the rocker 28 constitutes, on the one hand, the neutralizing member of the warning device, and, on the other hand, the control member of the rocker 31 or launching member of the ba lancer 7; the clockwork movement, the sector 13 and the spring 18 constitute the driving device and the rack 16, the rod 72 and the pusher 17 constitute the control device of the counter.
Such a counter can be used to monitor time intervals other than the duration of telephone conversations, and it can differ from the embodiment described and represented, for example: by the number of teeth of the cam, by the number minutes that the large indicator hand moves through the corresponding graduation on the dial, by the arrangement of the springs, by the shape of the levers, by the shape of the paddle and the color of its zones which could bear various signs, by the arrangement of the stopper intended to determine the starting position of the. cam, stopper which could be placed elsewhere than on the cam 'and abut against a member other than the sector, etc.
By the use of the launching member (lever 31) of the balance of the clockwork movement, we have the absolute certainty that the clockwork movement starts up as soon as the balance has been released from the braking exerted on it by this organ, and that it cannot remain in neutral, which is not always the case with other similar devices.
