Description

Process for the manufacture of a mixed phospho-nitrogen fertilizer. The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of a phospho-nitrogenous mixed fertilizer, according to which a phosphoric solution of cyanamide (CN NH,) is reacted with calcium cyanamide (CNNCa) known in the field. trade under the name of nitrogenous lime.

By varying, on the one hand, the quantity of phosphoric acid used for the preparation of the phosphoric cyanamide (CNNH2) solution, and, on the other hand, the quantity of calcium cyanamide which reacts with this solution, we can at will prepare mixed phospho-nitrogen fertilizers of which the content of nitrogen and soluble phosphates differs, this content being a function of the quantities of phosphoric acid and: of calcium cyanamide used.

Here are examples of how, according to the present invention, one can proceed to prepare phospho-nitrogen fertilizers: 1 To an aqueous solution of 44 kg of -cyanamide (CNNHZ) containing 98 kg of phosphoric acid, is added little by little by storing, 80 kg - commercially available calcium cyanamide ring. The mass heats up little by little and when all the calcium cyanamide has been added it takes up more or less solid wet granules which it suffices to dry and put in a bag.

The mass represents a phosphorus nitrogen fertilizer containing about 20% as similable nitrogen and 40% phosphoric acid soluble in water and citrate in the form of mono- and dicalcium phos phates.

It is understood that in this example, the quantity of cyanamide (CNNHZ), the quantity of phosphoric acid and the quantity of calcium cyanamide used can be varied in reasonable proportions, taking care, however, not to add a quantity of .calcic cyanamide as it would transform the phosphoric acid used into insoluble tricalcic phos phates of no value for the industry: fertilizers.

2 In the example above, phosphoric acid can be replaced. pure with phosphoric acid containing sulfuric acid as it results from its preparation by means of commercial tricalcium phosphates treated with an excess of sulfuric acid. The phosphorus nitrogen obtained then contains a little calcium sulphate which does not in any way interfere with its use in agriculture.
