Always-in gear shift mechanism. The object of the present invention is a gear shifting mechanism always in mesh, comprising two parallel shafts, one of which controls the other by means of cylindrical gears. This mechanism is characterized in that the first of said shafts comprises a group of at least three toothed wheels of different pitch radius, wedged on the shaft and stuck to each other according to the order of magnitude of their pitch radius, the intermediate toothed wheel being eccentric on the shaft so that it allows a gear mounted on a mobile support and meshing with one of the end toothed wheels, to pass from one of these wheels to the other,
means being provided to constantly ensure the meshing of the transmission with one or the other of said toothed wheels.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows it in plan and partially in section; Fig. 2 is a side elevational view thereof with parts in section; Fig. 3 is a view similar to that shown in FIG. 1, showing the members of the mechanism in other positions; Fig. 4 shows the side elevational view corresponding to the previous figure; Fig. 5 is also a view similar to that of FIG. 1, showing yet another position of the organs.
The gear change mechanism shown comprises the two parallel shafts 1, 2 which can rotate in the supports 3. The operation of the mechanism being reversible, one or the other of the two shafts can be the driving shaft. In the description which follows, it is assumed that the shaft 1 is controlled by the shaft 2. On the latter is keyed a sliding pinion 4 which is still being dragged in rotation by the shaft 2, but can be moved there. axially. This pinion is secured in a sleeve 5 mounted loosely on the shaft 2 and capable of being displaced therein axially by any control device. The sleeve 5 has at each end an arm 6, respectively 6 '.
These arms are offset with respect to each other and carry, the first a toothed transmission 7 and the other a roller 7 '. The reference 7 always engages in the sliding pinion 4 and corresponds, by its original diameter, to the diameter of the roller 7 '. It follows that the pinion 4 and the return 7 are driven by the sleeve 5, when the latter slides on the shaft 2, and always remain in engagement whatever the angular position of the sleeve. On the shaft 1. are wedged, facing the return 7, a group of toothed wheels 8, 9, 10. These toothed wheels have different pitch diameters and are attached to each other according to the order of magnitude of their diameter. primitive. Tan say that the extreme wheels 8, 10 are concentrated, the intermediate wheel 9 is eccentric with respect to the shaft 1.
The primary diameter and the arrangement of the intermediate wheel 9 are chosen so that the small radius of rotation of this wheel coincides with that of wheel 8, while its large radius of rotation coincides with that of wheel 10. The teeth of these three wheels also correspond to each other. The gear 7 engages with the wheel 8 (fig. 1 and 2) and drives the shaft 1. If we now move the sleeve 5 from left to right on the shaft 2, the gear 7 slides at a given moment of the wheel 8 on the eccentric wheel 9 (fig. 8) and finally of the latter on the wheel 10 (fig. 5). The diameter of the latter wheel being greater than that of the wheel 8, the result is that the ratio of the angular speed of the driven shaft to the speed of the driving shaft is changed.
The gear 7 can move away from or come closer to the shaft 1, thanks to the sleeve 5 pivots on the shaft 2. To ensure that the gear 7 engages in engagement with one of the star wheels 8, 9 , 10, there is provided a device comprising the roller 7 'and a member wedged on the shaft 1. This member comprises three cylindrical parts 8', 9 ', 10' respectively conjugated with the wheels 8, 9 and 10, that is to say that the dimensions of said cylindrical parts correspond to those of the wheels, the diameters of the former being appropriate to the pitch diameters of the latter. The roller 7 'is always pressed against the periphery of one of said cylindrical parts 8', 9 ', 10', the median 9 'of which is eccentric.
The roller 7 'moves from one to the other of the cylindrical parts, exactly in the same way as the return 7 passes from one to the other of the toothed wheels 8, 9, 10. It rolls on the part. having the largest diameter, 8 ', when the return 7 is engaged with the smallest wheel 8. On the other hand, when the latter is in engagement with the wheel 10, the roller works with the cylindrical part 10', therefore that which has the smallest diameter. Since the arms 6, 6 'of the sleeve are offset with respect to each other, the eccentric wheel 9 and the eccentric 9' are also offset with respect to each other on the shaft 1, so that the return 7 can perform exactly the movements required for its operation.
The mechanism described above is constructed for two different speed ratios between the two shafts. However, it could be set for more than two speed ports. For this purpose, it would suffice to suitably supplement the number of elements 8, 9, 10 respectively 8 ', 9', 10 ', by similar elements and to adapt the axial stroke of the sleeve 5 to this construction variant.
