Timepiece indicating automatically and alternately the hours from 1 to 12 and from 13 to 24. The present invention relates to a timepiece indicating automatically and alternately the hours from 1 to 12 and from 13 to 24, of the known type comprising a movable dial oscillating below a fixed crown having windows. , the hourly digits from 1 to 12 and from 13 to 24 alternating between them being arranged on the movable ca dran which is controlled by the movement of the part in such a way that since midnight. until noon the hour figures from 1 to 12 are visible in the windows of the fixed crown and from noon until midnight the hour figures from 13 to 24.
According to the invention, the mechanism comprises a cam controlled by the movement of the part, and two levers, of each of which one of the ends rests against the periphery of the cam, while the other end rests. is within reach of an ankle fixed to the mobile dial, the whole in such a way that every twelve hours the levers produce alternately and in the opposite direction a determined angular movement of the mobile dial. movement which shows once the hour figures from 1 to 12 and the other time those from 13 to 2 4 in the windows of the crown.
Figs. 1 to 4 show, by way of example, a plan view of an embodiment of the mechanism adapted to a pocket watch; the various figures showing the moving parts of the mechanism in different positions.
a is a fixed crown having twelve windows b and below which is arranged the mobile dial c. This dial has the hour numbers from 1 to 12 and from 13 to 24 alternating between them. Below the dial c is placed a cam d integral with a wheel e meshing with the barrel wheel f (the watch movement which turns the cam at the rate of one revolution in 24 hours.
Two levers g resp. h, pivoted at i on the dial c press one of their ends against two diametrically opposed points on the periphery of the cam d. While each of their other ends is within reach of a L resp. m attached to the edge of the dial c. The levers are subjected to the action of a spring n resp. n1 which maintains contact between the respective lever and the circumference of the cam c.
Two spells o fixed on the plate e1 are each tightened against a pin p fixed to the casing. The springs o form a kind of braking to keep the dial at rest as long as it is not actuated by the levers fi and h. The operation of the mechanism described is . the following: Let us suppose that in the key windows the crown a are visible, the hour digits from 1 to 12 and that the hands of the watch mark twelve and fifty minutes. At this moment, the parts of the mechanism are in the position shown in fig. 1.
The nose of the cam rotating in the direction of the arrow r escapes at the end of the lever g which, under the action of the spring n, instantly falls on the part of small radius of the cam and gives the dial a deterent angular movement. mined, in the direction of the arrow s, a movement which makes the key hour digits 1 to 12 disappear from the windows of the crown and the hour digits 13 to 24 appear there (see fig. 2 of the drawing). As indicated in fig. 2, the described movement of the dial c has brought the ankle m into contact. with lever h.
At midnight fifty minutes the nose of the cam d, which has continued to travel, comes out of contact with the lever la (fig. 3 and 4). As a result, said lever performs an instantaneous oscillating movement and communicates to the dial an angular movement in a direction opposite to that of the arrow s so that the lever, which had been put out of contact with the ankle l (fig. 3) , by the action of the cam d, abuts against said pin and that the hourly digits from 1 to 12 reappear in the windows of the crown a, the dial c resuming its initial position (fig. 4).
The functions then begin again as described previously so that both series of. hourly digits are made visible alternately and automatically after each 12-hour period.
The springs n and n1 could be replaced by a single double-acting spring arranged between the two levers. Instead of round windows, the crown could present at its inner edge notches of any shape in which the hour figures would be placed.
The mechanism described differs from the devices already proposed clans, the same goal by its greater simplicity and in that it reduces the load of the watch movement. It is adaptable to both pocket watches and clocks. or pen dulettes.
