Cylinder for internal combustion engines. The object of the present invention is a cylinder for internal combustion engines which offers the particular feature that its cylinder head, carried or cast iron with the rest of the cylinder, is subdivided into a plurality of channels communicating directly or indirectly with each other. the others and inside which the explosion propagates, all with the aim of obtaining a slower ignition of the thundering mixture.
In general, the cylinder head of the cylinder in question will have a central channel around which other channels will be arranged which, depending on the case and requirements, will have their axes parallel to the general axis of the cylinder or else inclined on it.
It is shown by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of a cylinder according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view thereof and FIG. 2 eu is a sectional view along the line A - B of FIG. 1.
Referring to the drawing in which the same reference letters designate the same parts, a is a flange made of cast iron with the cylinder body and by means of which the latter and the cylinder head are held together, b is the valve chamber , c the intake and d exhaust valves. e is the thundering mixture inlet pipe and f the exhaust pipe. , g and lt. are the screw caps that allow tent to reach the valve seats.
A central channel k is made in the cylinder head. It communicates with the chamber b by a mouth l whose section is very small compared to that of the channel. All around the channel k are arranged conduits; n whose axes are. parallel to that of the axis of channel i, and, at the same time, parallel to. the axis of the cylinder. These channels neither communicate. from one end with chamber b and. on the other end, inside the cylinder body in which the piston n works.
When the thunderous mixture is admitted to. inside the cylinder and after it has been compressed by piston n; it is ignited by means of a candle, not shown, which may be found next. the cases and according to the degree of rapidity of propagation of the desired ignition, either in the channel k, or in the opening 1 of the latter.
It is easy to understand that when, for example, the spark plug is in channel 7c the explosion propagates much more slowly inside the compression chamber, which in turn propagates the occurrence is formed by all the in channels, the k channel and the b chamber, only if this compression chamber were not subdivided. In certain cases and for certain engines, it will be preferable to close the channels ma one end so that they do not come off directly inside the cylinder body.
