Abstract

The clasp has a structure (2) provided with an attachment unit for attaching ends of a flexible link and an adjusting unit for adjusting total useful length of the flexible link. Another end of the link is attached to a sliding part (16). The adjusting unit includes a fixing unit formed of U shaped part (17) and rack (22) for fixing a position of the sliding part to a variable position in the structure. A control unit formed of cover, toothed wheels (10, 11), axles (12), ratchet wheel and rack (23) allows movement of the sliding part.

Description

The present invention relates to a clasp for flexible or articulated link, such as bracelet, watch band, belt and the like.

[0002] Different types of clasps for belts, bracelets, watchbands, tightening straps and the like exist. The simplest is the buckle with pin on one end of the flexible link, the other end being provided with holes for tightening the link at predetermined positions, or a kind of clamp with claws allowing a finer tightening, or a clasp for particular Wristwatch watches with two or three or four blade deployment clasp etc.

The problem with at least some of these clasps is that it is difficult to have several slightly different clamping positions while ensuring a good lock at the desired position.

The object of the present invention is to provide a clasp capable of being able to obtain a clamping between several very close positions.

This object is achieved by means of a clasp comprising a structure provided with means for attaching the ends of the flexible link and means for adjusting the total useful length of the flexible link, said means for attaching the ends of the flexible link comprising a first sliding part provided with means for attaching one end of the flexible link, and in that said means for adjusting the total length of the flexible link comprise first fixing means for fixing the position of the first sliding part at a position variable in said structure and first adjustment means for moving said first slider.

According to the invention, said first fastening means may consist of a first U-shaped part comprising two wings, said flanges being split in their thickness to form a kind of gripper with two jaws, said jaws being provided on their inner faces of notches facing each other, said first sliding piece being located between said flanges and being provided with at least one axis engaged in said notches and an articulated head on which can be attached an end of the flexible link, said piece U-shaped being trapped laterally between a first and a second armature assembled at their ends and arranged to hold one of the jaws of each clamp stationary while leaving an empty lateral space between each armature and said U-shaped piece, and in that that said first adjustment means comprise a first slide inserted into the empty lateral space in being the first armature and said first U-shaped piece, said first slide having at one end a first rack and on one of its free faces a second rack with ratchet teeth, said second rack meshing with said axis of the first sliding piece said first rack meshing with a first gear wheel controlled by a rocker member for urging said first slider towards the base of the U, the ratchet teeth sliding above said axis of the first slider and the first slider elastically deforming in a manner pressing by its free end against a stop.

According to the invention, said first adjustment means may comprise a second slide, identical to the first slide and disposed in the empty lateral space between the second armature and the U-shaped piece, and a second gear meshing with the first rack of the second slider, said second sprocket being controlled in parallel by the same rocking member.

According to the invention, said means for attaching the ends of the flexible link may comprise a second sliding part identical to the first provided with means for attaching the second end of the flexible link, said means for adjusting the total length of the flexible link may comprising second securing means for fixing the position of the second slider to a variable position in said structure, and second adjusting means for moving said second slider.

According to the invention, said second fixing means consist of a second U-shaped piece comprising two wings, said wings being slit in their thickness to form a kind of clamp with two jaws, said jaws being provided on their faces. interior of notches facing each other, the two U-shaped pieces being juxtaposed so that the free ends of the Us face each other and said frames being adapted to trap the two U-shaped pieces, said second sliding piece being between the wings of said second U-shaped piece and being provided with at least one axis engaged in said notches and an articulated head on which can be attached an end of said flexible link, and in that said second adjusting means comprise a second slide, identical to the first and arranged in the empty lateral space between the second armature and the second shaped part U, whose second rack meshes with the axis of the second sliding part and whose first rack meshes with a second gear wheel controlled in parallel by the same rocking member.

According to the invention, said second adjustment means may comprise a fourth slide, identical to the third slide and disposed in the empty lateral space between the second armature and the second U-shaped piece, and a fourth gear meshing with the first rack of the fourth slider, said fourth sprocket being controlled in parallel by the same rocking member.

The clasp 1 for flexible or articulated link according to the invention shown in Figs. 1A-1C comprises two covers 3 and 4 and a structure 2 on which the covers are mounted. The left cover 3 and the right cover 4 are mounted swinging on the structure 2, by crimping or screwing. The left cover 3 allows the adjustment of the flexible link or articulated to the desired length while the right cover 4 allows, him, the lock of the clasp. Alternatively, we can however consider that it is the hood on the right that allows the adjustment of the length of the link while it would be in this case the left cover that would lock the clasp. In general, adjusting the length of the flexible link to the desired length is effected by lifting the end 5 of the cover 3, similarly to a ratchet strap. By thus making movements back and forth of the cover 3 about its axis, the user can tighten the link precisely to the desired length. The right cover 4 is provided with a lever 6 which allows to loosen the flexible link as will be explained in relation to FIG. 4.

Fig. 2A shows a more detailed side view of the clasp according to the invention when the cover for locking the clasp, the right cover 4 in the preferred embodiment, is removed. In the preferred embodiment, all the parts shown in FIG. 2A are repeated symmetrically on the other side of the clasp as can be seen in FIG. 2C.

In the rest position, the cover 3 is blocked against the structure 2 by means of a lug 7 which cooperates with an axis 8. When the user wishes to adjust the length of the link, it first disengages the hood 3 of the structure 2 by pulling up the end 5 of the cover 3 which contributes to detaching the lug 7 of the axis 8. It can then perform movements back and forth of the cover 3 in order to adjust the length of the link. When the desired length is reached, the user can then block the cover 3 in its rest position by printing a pressure on the end 5 of the cover which contributes to hooking the lug 7 on the axis 8.

As can be seen in FIGS. 2A and 2C, the left cover 3 comprises on each side two toothed wheels 9, mounted inside the cover 3, which meshes with two toothed wheels 10 mounted on the structure 2 on each side thereof. Thus, when the user raises the end 5 of the cover 3 and moves the cover 3 back and forth about its axis, the tilting of the cover 3, and thus of the toothed wheels 9, causes the wheels to rotate. toothed 10.

[0017] Referring to FIG. 2B, we see the gears 10 mounted on each side of the structure 2. These wheels meshing with two gears 11 mounted on the axes 12. Alternatively, one can also consider that the axes 12 are actually pinions trees. The rotation of the gears 10, under the effect of the tilting of the cover 3 made by the user, therefore rotates the axes 12.

On the axes 12 are mounted opposite two ratchet wheels 13 and 14. These ratchet wheels can transmit the rotational movement of the wheel 13 to the wheel 14 in one direction but not in the other. Indeed, when the user raises the hood 3, the wheels 10, driven in rotation by the movement of the wheels 9, in turn drive the wheels 11 which then drive the axes 12 in rotation. The rotation of the shafts 12 rotates the wheels 13 and the rotational movement of the wheels 13 is then transmitted to the wheels 14. On the other hand, when the user lowers the hood, the rotation in the opposite direction of the wheels 10 is always transmitted to the wheels 13. wheels 11 which always drive the axes 12 in rotation. However, thanks to the ratchet teeth of the wheels 13 and 14, this time rotation is not transmitted to the wheels 14, the wheels 13 then sliding on the wheels 14. Thus, the wheels 14 rotate only when the user raises the hood and they do not rotate when the user lowers the hood 3.

For reasons which will become clearer in the following description, the upper wheel 14 is provided on its outer face with a toothing which meshes with a slider 15. In the embodiment as shown in FIG. fig. 2B, only one slider 15 meshes with the upper wheel 14. Alternatively, however, it can be envisaged that there is a second slide, arranged symmetrically to that of the top, which would then mesh with the wheel 14 of the bottom which would also be provided with a toothing on its outer face.

Under the hood 3 is exactly the same mechanism that includes the wheels 11, the axes 12, the wheels 13 and the wheels 13 which mesh with one or two slides 15. In the preferred embodiment, as for the right part of the clasp that we see in fig. 2B, under the left cover is a slider 15. However, instead of being arranged at the top, the slider under the hood 3 is arranged at the bottom and it meshes with the wheel 14 bottom. In other words, the slider under the hood 3 is disposed at the opposite position diagonally of the right slider. Alternatively, as for the right side, it is conceivable that there is under the left cover another slider 15 which is disposed symmetrically to that of the bottom and which would then mesh with the wheel 14 from the top.

The flexible link is attached by one end to the sliding part 16. The other end of the flexible link is attached to a sliding part similar to the first one which is under the hood 3.

FIG. 3 shows an exploded view of the structure 2. It contains the gears 10, the gears 11 and the axes 12. For simplicity, the wheels 13 and 14 are not shown in this figure. There is also in the figure the sliding parts 16 on which are attached the ends of the flexible link. The ends of the flexible link are more particularly attached to the articulated heads of the sliding parts by means of pin or any other means for attaching the ends of the flexible link to the latter. We also find in the figure the slides 15.

The structure of the clasp comprises two U-shaped parts 17 slit in their thickness to form a kind of gripper with two jaws, the jaws being provided on their inner faces with notches facing each other. The jaws of the U-shaped pieces are joined at their ends by a pin 18. As can be seen in FIG. 2B, the sliding parts 16 are arranged between the wings 19 of the U-shaped parts. The sliding parts 16 are provided with pins 20 which engage in the notches of the jaws of the U-shaped parts. The jaws of the parts U-shaped can deviate to allow the axes 20 of the sliding parts 16 to pass from one slot to another. The U-shaped pieces are trapped on each side between frames 21 fixed by the pins 18 to the U-shaped pieces. There are however empty spaces between each frame 21 and the sides of the U-shaped pieces 17 in which are arranged the slides 15 as represented by the arrows. The slides are provided with a first rack which meshes with the wheels 8 and a second rack 22 which meshes with the axes 20 of the sliding parts. The teeth of the rack 22 are bent in such a way that the sliders slide on the axes 20 when the sliders move towards the base of the U-shaped pieces and, on the other hand, make it possible to bring the sliding parts towards the top of the pieces in the shape of a U-shape. U, in other words the center of the clasp, when the sliders, as will be described later, goes up to the vertices of the U-shaped pieces.

The clamping of the flexible link is therefore as follows. When the user lifts the cover 3, the wheels 10 are rotated by the wheels 9 which rotate the wheels 11 which rotate the axes 12 and the wheels 13. The latter in turn rotate the wheels 14 which move, by means of the racks 23, the sliders towards the base of the U-shaped pieces. The sliders then slide on the axes 20 of the sliding parts 16 and abut against the end 24 of the reinforcements 21, at the pins 18. The sliders 15 then deform. When the user closes the cover 3, the slides 15, acting as springs, return to their original shape, which helps to bring the sliding parts 16 towards the center of the clasp. In order to allow the deformation of the sliders and to bring back the sliding parts when they resume their shape, the sliders are preferably made of titanium. This material makes it possible to have sufficient rigidity to hold the sliding parts 16 when they are locked, but it also allows sufficient elasticity for the sliders to deform when they abut against the end of the reinforcements.

When the sliding parts are brought to the center of the clasp, the flexible link that is attached to them is tight.

Fig. 3 4 shows a more detailed side view of the clasp when the left cover 3 and the right cover 4 are removed. There then remains only the lever 6 which allows the loosening of the link. The lever 6 comprises two fins 25 inserted between the jaws of the U-shaped parts 17. When the lever is tilted, the wings spread the jaws and the axes 21 of the sliding parts 16 are no longer fixed by the slides 15 or by the notches of the jaws of the U-shaped pieces. Thus, the sliding parts are free and they slide to the base of the U-shaped parts, loosening the link.

The clasp according to the present invention allows to accurately adjust the length of the flexible link. Unlike a traditional clasp, it adjusts the length of the link exactly to the size desired by the user.

The invention has been described according to a preferred embodiment. However, those skilled in the art will appreciate that one U-shaped piece can be used instead of two. In this case, the entire mechanism of the clasp comprises only one part, the right or left, and the flexible link is attached at one end to a fixed point of the structure.

Claims (7)

1. Clasp for flexible or articulated link such as bracelet, watch strap, belt, said clasp comprising a structure (2) provided with means for attaching the ends of the flexible link and means for adjusting the total useful length of the flexible link, characterized in that said means for attaching the ends of the flexible link comprises a first slider (16) provided with means for attaching one of the ends of the flexible link, and that said means for adjusting the total length of the flexible link comprise first fixing means (17, 22) for fixing the position of the first sliding part at a variable position in said structure and first adjustment means (3, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 23) enabling moving said first slider.
Clasp according to claim 1, characterized in that said first fixing means consist of a first U-shaped part comprising two wings, said wings being split in their thickness to form a kind of gripper with two jaws, said jaws being provided on their inner faces with notches facing each other, said first sliding part being located between said flanges and being provided with at least one axis engaged in. said notches and an articulated head on which can be attached an end of the flexible link, said U-shaped piece being trapped laterally between a first and a second frame assembled at their ends and arranged to hold one of the jaws of the clip while leaving an empty lateral space between each armature and said U-shaped piece, and in that said first adjustment means comprise a first slide inserted in the empty lateral space between the first armature and said first U-shaped piece. said first slider having at one end a first rack and on one of its free faces a second rack with ratchet teeth, said second rack meshing with said axis of the first slider, said first rack meshing with a first gear wheel controlled by a tilting member for pushing said first slide water towards the base of the U, ratchet teeth sliding above said axis of the first sliding part and the first slider elastically deforming by pressing its free end against a stop.

Clasp according to claim 5, characterized in that said first adjustment means comprise a third slide, identical to the first slide and disposed in the empty lateral space between the second armature and the first U-shaped part, and a third toothed wheel meshing with the first rack of the third slide, said third gear wheel being controlled in parallel by the same rocking member.
