The present invention relates to a timepiece provided with a mobile dial so as to modify at will the aesthetic appearance and the inscriptions, numbers, landmarks, decorations, etc.. of the dial.
[0002] GB 2 281 999 discloses a housing containing two compartments, one enclosing a liquid crystal display for displaying the time and the other enclosing an informative or graphic display device.
This graphic display consisting of triangular section bars rotatably mounted parallel to each other whose faces bear information or editable decorations is not the dial of a timepiece but a separate display mounted in the same housing as a time display but independent of the latter.
US 6 662 482 discloses a display device formed of juxtaposed triangular section elements rotatable on themselves to change the appearance of a surface. Fig. 25 of this document shows the application of such a device, whose triangular elements are frustoconical and arranged in a circle, forming the dial of a timepiece.
The drive mechanism of the triangular elements is complex and very bulky under and around the watch movement.
The present invention aims to allow the realization of a timepiece provided with a mobile dial, can therefore change at will its aesthetics and presentation, a simple construction, robust, compact and can be easily controlled manually by the wearer of the timepiece.
The accompanying drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the timepiece, here a wristwatch, provided with the mobile dial according to the invention.
<tb> Fig. 1 <sep> is a perspective view of the wristwatch provided with the mobile dial according to the invention.
<tb> Fig. 2 <sep> is a side view, opposite to the winding crown of the watch illustrated in FIG. 1.
<tb> Fig. 3 <sep> is a perspective view of the watch illustrated in FIG. 1 partially in section to illustrate the control mechanism of the mobile dial.
<tb> Fig. 4 <sep> is a plan view of the gear train of the mobile dial control device.
<tb> Fig. 5 <sep> is a partial perspective, some parts being in section showing the elements of the mobile dial between two stable service positions and the passage of the switch through said mobile dial.
<tb> Fig. 6 <sep> is a sectional view of the watch illustrated in FIG. 1 passing through the axis of the winding crown and the axis of the switch.
<tb> Fig. 7 <sep> is an enlargement of the right part of fig. 6.
The timepiece illustrated by way of example in the drawing is a wristwatch of generally rectangular shape whose box is constituted by a case bezel 1 provided with a top ice 2 and a bottom 3 provided with 4. A seal 5 is provided between the bottom 3 and the middle bezel 1 and these two parts are fixed against each other by means of screws 6.
A casing ring 7 is conventionally fixed in the watch case 1, 2 and has a first and a second opposite straight wall, 8, 9 extending along the inner faces of the left side walls (three hours) and right (nine hours) of the middle case bezel 1.
The first rectilinear wall 8 located along the winding crown side of the box 1, 2 has come from a workpiece with the casing ring 7 while the opposite second rectilinear wall 9 is fixed by means of screws. 10 on the casing ring 7 for reasons of mounting flaps 16, 16a.
The casing ring 7 traditionally carries a watch movement 11, the winding and setting time is done using a winding crown 12 and a winding stem 13 sealingly through the middle bezel 1.
In the example shown the case bezel 1 includes windows 14, 15 formed in its opposite side walls, winding side 12 and opposite side, for, as discussed below,
to reveal a part of the mechanism of actuation of the elements or shutters of the mobile dial to give the watch an original and playful aesthetic.
The mobile dial of the illustrated wristwatch is constituted by elements or flaps 16, 16a of triangular section arranged side by side so that their flat faces can be positioned in the same plane and form the dial.
As shown in fig. 5, the switch 29 passes through the central flaps 16a.
Each element or flap 16, 16a of the dial has at its ends journals or pivots 17, 18 pivoted in the straight walls 8, 9 respectively with bearings 19, 20 preferably in ruby.
On the side of the winding crown 12 each pin 17 flaps 16, 16a carries a first pinion 21 and a star 22 located between the inner face of the straight wall 8 and the corresponding flap 16, 16a and located under the face upper case bezel 1 so as not to be visible through the upper window 2.
The first pinions 21 together form a first row of gears independent of each other and do not mesh with each other.
Second gears 23,
pivoted on the rectilinear wall 8 of the casing ring are each engaged with two first gears 21 adjacent. These second gears 23 thus form a second row of gears.
The first 21 and second 23 sprockets form an interlaced gear train allowing simultaneous rotation of all the flaps 16, 16a of the dial by the driving of only one of the second gears 23.
The rotary drive mechanism of the flaps 16, 16a of the dial further comprises a maneuvering knob 24 coaxial with the winding crown 12 integral with a concentric tube to the winding stem 13 which is fixed a pinion of drive 25 engaged with one of the second pinions 23, preferably the pinion 23 central of the second row of pinion.
The tube connecting the wheel 24 to the drive sprocket 25 passes through the middle bezel 1 tightly and pivots around the winding stem 13 sealingly with O-ring for example (not shown).
By turning the knob 24 in one direction or the other automatically drives all the flaps 16, 16a of the rotating dial thus allowing to align in the plane of the dial successively each of the faces of the flaps 16, 16a.
To index the flaps 16, 16a of the dial in their service positions a blade 26 is fixed on the upper edge of the rectilinear wall 8 of the casing ring.
This blade 26 has tabs 27 cut and folded as jumpers cooperating with each star 22.
It will be noted that the central flaps 16a of the dial have a groove 28 giving passage to the switch 29.
Note also that in this embodiment with two rows of gears simultaneous drive all the flaps 16, 16a of the dial is performed in the same direction of rotation.
In a variant having only one row of pinions 21 and where these first pinions 21 meshing with each other, the drive pinion 25 would be engaged with one of these first pinions 21.
In this case the flaps 16, 16a adjacent turn in opposite directions to one another during the rotation of the flaps 16, 16a by the control knob 24.
In variants, it is possible to arrange the rectilinear wall 8 of the casing ring so that the pinions 21, 22 are partially visible through the window 14 of the case bezel 1. Similarly, end of the trunnions 17, 18 may be provided with a visible decoration by the windows 14, 15 of the middle bezel 1 creating a ludic appeal for this timepiece.
The described mobile dial and its manual drive device are very simple, robust and particularly compact since they can be housed entirely in a lateral stretcher of the middle bezel 1.
Its control is easy and easy for the user using a coaxial wheel to the winding crown. The decorations, engravings or indications carried by the faces of the shutters can be chosen at will allowing, in the illustrated example, to have a dial that can have three different aspects.
We can also note that the flaps 16, 16a can be rotated on the casing ring 7 with ruby bearing or self-lubricating so as to reduce the friction and therefore the force required to actuate the control wheel .
In variants of the movable dial describes the flaps 16, 16a could be formed by blades or plates and have only two faces can be put in the service position. Their control remains identical to the control mechanism described above.
