The present invention relates to a method for detecting the hit position during shooting training according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a method and a corresponding device for shooting training is known from EP-A 0 215 130. Such and similar methods and systems serve in particular to reduce the environmental impact by being able to train either without any ammunition and correspondingly without any noise pollution or with special ammunition which causes little noise and does not pollute the environment with heavy metals. In addition, regardless of their distance from the shooting range, the targets are not damaged by shot holes; So there is no maintenance of these disks and no electrical or electronic feedback or visual display of the hit position is required.
A major disadvantage of the known device is that only a certain weapon is permanently equipped with a video camera assigned to it, and in many cases training is no longer carried out with an actual weapon but only with dummy weapons. In very many cases, however, it is desirable that a larger number of shooters can train with their personal weapon and their personal adjustment of the aiming device on the weapon under realistic conditions.
The aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a method or a shooting range which meets the need mentioned. This goal is achieved according to the characterizing part of claim 1 or claim 7. Each individual weapon equipped with a video camera is therefore calibrated, whereupon shooting training with the personal weapon can be recorded.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment shown schematically in the drawing. The drawing shows a rifle 1, for example an army rifle, which is connected to a video camera 2. Suitable interfaces for connecting the camera and the rifle in a certain mutual position can be provided on the rifle and on the video camera. These interfaces can preferably be designed such that a specific video camera can be attached to the rifle in exactly the same position again and again. The mutual position is therefore determined very precisely from the outset, so that the calibration mentioned above and described later only has to be carried out once.
In the figure it is indicated that during training, a silencer 3 is used to fire at the target, which is not shown in the figure, for example at a distance of 300 m. As also indicated in the figure, it is preferably possible to fire with decay ammunition 4, which decays outside the muffler 3 and does not reach the target, for example a target. The ammunition is selected such that the recoil 2 which arises with live ammunition occurs, that is to say the firing takes place under the same conditions as with live shooting. The recoil could, however, also be generated or simulated in a different way, especially if training is done without ammunition at all.
Ammunition that produces a certain bang can also be used, or the bang can be simulated in order to make the training as realistic as possible.
The video camera 2 is connected to electronics 5, which can be designed as a microprocessor. There is also a trigger on the rifle to determine when the shot is fired. For example, a sensor can be provided which responds to the acceleration of the rifle as a result of the recoil, or to the muzzle pressure or to the movement of the breech, the hammer or the trigger, and to the electronics 5 a trigger signal indicated in the figure for storing the transmitted by the camera 2 captured image of the target at the time the shot is fired.
Thus, each time the shot is fired, the image of the target captured by the video camera 2 is stored in a memory of the electronics 5 and is then compared in a comparison circuit with a reference image in order to display the hit position on a monitor 6 in accordance with the deviation of the two images.
To store a reference image in the electronics 5, a calibration device is provided, which is shown in the figure below. This calibration device has an adjustment device 7, in which the rifle 1 can be mounted. In the barrel of the rifle, a laser source, for example a laser pointer 8, is used, which throws a laser beam onto the target 9 serving as the target. A video camera 10 captures an image of the disk 9, or the point of incidence 11 of the laser beam on this disk, and transmits this image to a monitor 12. It can be seen from the figure that the laser beam is displaced somewhat over the center of the disk 9 and also laterally hits.
The rifle is now aligned by means of the adjusting device 7 so that the laser beam strikes the center above the center of the target, specifically at a target distance of 300 m, for example approximately one meter above the center, namely at the point at which the axis of the rifle barrel would have to pierce the target if an effective projectile hit the center of the target as a direct hit. Once this position has been reached, the video signal from this camera is transmitted to the video input of the electronics 5 via the line 13 by means of the video camera 2, which is not shown in the figure, but is mounted on the rifle 1, and is stored as a reference image. This process is triggered by a trigger pulse, which is indicated in the figure, and is transmitted to the calibration device by actuating a trigger switch 14.
It follows from the foregoing that, when shooting effectively during shooting training, video camera 2 would have to take a target image that corresponds exactly to the reference image of the target taken on the occasion of the calibration. If the two images differ from one another, a comparison circuit of the electronics 5 calculates the deviation in direction and amount, and this deviation is displayed on the monitor 6.
In the figure, it is assumed that the calibration is carried out by means of a laser beam which is thrown onto a real disk 9 at a distance of, for example, 300 m, and this disk is imaged by a video camera 10 set up in its vicinity. In practice, calibration with a much shorter distance and without an auxiliary camera 10 will be more helpful, so that the calibration device can be set up in a relatively small space, for example in a shooting range. In this case, the impact of the laser beam on the pane set up at a distance of, for example, 10 to 20 meters can be observed without auxiliary devices, and when the correct setting has been reached, the storage of the reference image can be triggered manually.
On the other hand, the automation can be continued, and an auxiliary camera 10 can control the adjustment device 7 via appropriate electronics so that the rifle 1 is automatically brought into the desired position, whereupon the reference image is automatically saved. When calibrating at a shorter distance, the target image must of course be proportionally reduced. Correspondingly, of course, target practice can also be carried out on targets that are proportionally reduced over short distances, with in many cases training preferably without ammunition.
As mentioned at the beginning, shooting practice should be carried out under realistic conditions, i.e. the target should be at the distance that is normally used for shooting, e.g. 300 m. Checks have shown that in this case video cameras with telephoto are available which, with a weight of 1 kg, a focal length of 300 mm and an aperture diameter of 40 mm, have a resolution of 2 cm to 300 m with a relatively short exposure time of the order of magnitude Ensure 1 ms.
