Description

The present invention relates to a display device for a timepiece, in particular a watch, arranged so as to represent a specific place of prayer or worship, in particular that of the Islamic religion. This place of prayer contains an enclosure called "Kâaba" in which is the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad and around which, faithful called "Hedjadj", that is to say pilgrims, constantly revolve.

The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a display device for a timepiece displaying the time and reproducing not only the "Kâaba" but also the movement of the "Hedjadj" around said enclosure.

This object is obtained by a display device in accordance with claims 1 and 2 and can be fitted to a watch as indicated in claim 3.

The construction of the display device for a timepiece according to the invention is more easily understood from the attached drawing comprising the figures where:

As can be seen in the figures, the display device for a timepiece according to the invention consists first of all of a part forming the bottom of the dial 1 on which are indicated time indications. Hands 2, 3 respectively indicate the hours and the minutes. A pivoting disc 4, parallel to the planes of rotation of the needles and superimposed on said planes and whose diameter is less than the length of the shortest of the needles, hides the central part of the bottom part 1 as well as needles 2, 3 of which only the ends appear on its periphery. A fixed flat part 5 parallel and superimposed on the disc 4, hides the central portion of the disc 4. As can be seen in FIG. 1, the fixed central part 5 preferably represents, schematically, a perspective of the "Kâaba", that is to say a rectangular parallelepiped seen in perspective. Characters (not shown in the figure) appear on the portion of the movable disc 4 surrounding the fixed part 5 and, by the movement of said disc in the opposite direction to that of the needles 2 and 3, simulate their movement around the "Kaaba". Preferably, these characters are dressed in the Islamic manner.

Fig. 2 shows an example of the device for driving the different parts. The part 1 forming the dial background is fixed; it is pierced with a hole, in a preferably central position, in order to make room for said device. Two coaxial guns 6 and 7 support in known manner the hour hands 2 and minutes 3. A coaxial tube 8, pivoting in a direction opposite to the clockwise direction, supports the pivoting disc 4, while the fixed flat part is maintained, preferably by welding, on the central axis 9, which is fixed and which passes through the interior of the tube 8 and through a central hole arranged in the disc 4. The lower ends of the tubes and barrels (not shown) carry the gear wheels necessary for their training, meshing with the time mechanism in order to drive them at the speed and in the desired direction in a known manner.

The timepiece described here includes only the hour and minute indications, but it is understood that it would also be possible to add, in the same way, an indication of the seconds. It is also possible to add to it a known sound reproducing device, on which would be recorded explanations or verses explaining the elements and acts reproduced on the dial.

Claims (3)

Claims 1. Display device for a timepiece comprising a bottom piece (1) comprising time signals and a set of hands (2, 3) indicating the hours and minutes, characterized in that it further comprises a pivoting disc (4) arranged in a plane parallel to and above those of the needles, said disc being driven in a rotation movement in the opposite direction to that of the needles, the radius of said disc being less than the length of the shortest needles, said disc comprising first figures, that is to say figures dressed in Islamic-type clothes, and a fixed flat part (5), arranged in a parallel plane and above said disc, covering a portion of approximately central surface of said disc and representing a rectangular parallelepiped having the aspect of the "kâaba" seen in perspective. 2. Display device for a timepiece according to claim 1, comprising a device for driving the hands constituted by hollow concentric barrels (6, 7), characterized in that it further comprises a tubular axis (8) disposed inside the hour hand drive barrel and supporting at its upper end the pivoting disc, driving said disc in a direction opposite to that of the hands and a fixed axis (9), concentric with said tubular axis and supporting the fixed flat part. 3.
