- on place sur un premier profilé métallique bordant un premier panneau de meuble une première pièce d'articulation occupant la position la plus basse sur le profilé;
- on place sur un deuxième profilé métallique, bordant un deuxième panneau de meuble à articuler sur le premier, une deuxième pièce d'articulation occupant sur le profilé une position à partir du bas décalée de la hauteur d'une pièce d'articulation augmentée de l'épaisseur d'un anneau médian;
- dans la première pièce d'articulation, on insère une première douille dont la jupe cylindrique inférieure glisse dans la pièce d'articulation et dont l'anneau médian repose sur la pièce d'articulation;
;
- on place ladite deuxième pièce d'articulation sur ladite première douille dont la jupe supérieure pénètre dans la deuxième pièce d'articulation;
- on place une deuxième douille dans ladite deuxième pièce d'articulation;
- on place une troisième pièce d'articulation avec son élément mâle dans la rainure dudit premier profilé et on la laisse glisser jusqu'à ce qu'elle recouvre ladite deuxième douille;
- on met en place une troisième douille;
- on place une quatrième pièce d'articulation avec son élément mâle dans la rainure dudit deuxième profilé, et on la laisse glisser jusqu'à ce qu'elle recouvre la troisième douille;
- on met en place une quatrième douille;
- on fixe le profilé 1a sur le panneau correspondant;
- on place ensuite dans la pièce d'articulation 11 une douille 12 et par dessus cette douille la pièce d'articulation 11a fixée au profilé 1a;
The invention relates to a hinge device for furniture and its implementation method.
Furniture is understood to mean easily movable and deformable furniture such as, for example, removable partitions, of the front type, consisting of panels hinged to one another by means of vertical articulation axes, and usually called partitions.
It is known to produce such partitions consisting of rigid panels vertically bordered by metal profiles provided with a vertical dovetail groove in which is inserted a male element carried by an articulation piece mounted sliding on a central axis. vertical connecting together the different articulation pieces.
This type of joint poses some problems in terms of its installation. First of all, the central axis has the same height as the partition panel. To set it up, it is necessary either to have a ceiling height twice the height of the panels, or to present the panels in an inclined position in order to be able to set up the central axis. Then, it is necessary to provide stop means so that the articulation parts do not slide longitudinally relative to the axis which rests on the ground.
One of the aims of the invention is to provide an articulation device which eliminates the concept of central axis while ensuring the same function.
Another object of the invention is to propose a method of implementing the hinge device for a small partition which uses only simple operations.
The subject of the invention is a hinge device for furniture, the panels of which are vertically bordered by metal profiles provided with a vertical groove with a narrow opening relative to its maximum width, of the type in which hollow cylindrical hinge parts, of reduced height relative to the height of the panel, each carry a male element capable of sliding in said groove, and in which the mechanical pivoting connection between adjacent articulation parts each linked to a panel is ensured by substantially cylindrical sockets , having two symmetrical cylindrical skirts fitting into said adjacent articulation pieces, characterized in that said skirts are separated by a protruding median ring constituting sliding bearing between said adjacent articulation pieces,
and in that the skirts have ribs to ensure pivoting with gentle friction.
According to a particular form of the invention, the median ring carries two symmetrical lateral protuberances in the form of an annular sector, constituting stops for limiting the angle between two adjacent panels to a minimum value.
The invention also relates to a method of implementing the above-mentioned hinge device for furniture, characterized by the following steps:
- a first articulation piece occupying the lowest position on the profile is placed on a first metal section bordering a first piece of furniture;
- We place on a second metal profile, bordering a second piece of furniture to be articulated on the first, a second articulation piece occupying on the profile a position from the bottom offset by the height of an articulation piece increased by the thickness of a middle ring;
- In the first articulation piece, a first bushing is inserted, the lower cylindrical skirt of which slides in the articulation piece and whose middle ring rests on the articulation piece;
;
- Said second articulation piece is placed on said first bushing, the upper skirt of which enters the second articulation piece;
- A second socket is placed in said second articulation piece;
- A third articulation piece with its male element is placed in the groove of said first profile and it is allowed to slide until it covers said second socket;
- a third socket is put in place;
- A fourth articulation piece with its male element is placed in the groove of said second profile, and it is allowed to slide until it covers the third socket;
- a fourth socket is put in place;
- And so on until we reach the top of said panels.
The characteristics appear from the following description made with reference to the attached drawing on which we can see:
Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional view of a metal profile vertically bordering a furniture panel,
Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of a hinge part according to the invention,
Fig. 3 a top view showing the arrangement of the articulation parts and of the profiles between two pieces of furniture according to the invention,
Fig. 4 an exploded view of the articulation device according to the invention between two furniture panels.
Referring to fig. 1, we see that the metal section 1 has two side wings 2 and 3 between which is inserted the vertical edge of a furniture panel (not shown). This panel comes into abutment on the two crosspieces 4 and 5. On its part opposite the panel, the profile 1 has a vertical groove 6 whose opening is limited by two lips 7 and 8 with cylindrical outer surface. This opening is narrow relative to the maximum width of the groove, so that the male element 10 of the articulation piece 11 shown in FIG. 2 can slide longitudinally in the groove 6 without being able to be extracted transversely.
In fig. 2, the articulation piece 11 is cylindrical, and its height is clearly less than that of the profile 1. In the zone 12 which carries the male element 10, the thickness of the articulation piece 11 is reinforced. This area is limited by the lips 7, 8 of the profile on which it rests. The purpose of this reinforced thickness is to avoid scratching the lateral surface of the articulation pieces during the movements of the furniture panels: in fact, the profile of one of the panels cannot rub on the linked articulation pieces. to the other adjacent sign. The zone 12 extends over the entire height of the articulation piece 11. The male element 10 consists of two bent walls extending over the entire height of the articulation piece, so that the wings folded down bent walls slide behind the lips 7, 8 of the profile 1.
In fig. 3, we see two sections 1 and 1a, an articulation piece 11 with its male element 10 placed in the groove 6 of the section 1, and the male element 10a, of the lower articulation piece masked by the piece of articulation 11, placed in the groove 6a of the profile 1a. Due to the cylindrical shape of the lips 7 and 8 of the profile and the corresponding shape of the articulation piece, there is no possibility of direct view through the articulation system. This means that there is visual and sound insulation at the level of the articulation of the panels, and that the articulation constitutes an obstacle to drafts.
In fig. 4, we see the two sections 1 and 1a, with articulation parts 11, 11a, 11b, intended to be connected alternately to the sections 1 and 1a, respectively. To ensure the mechanical pivoting connection between the articulation parts, 11 and 11a for example, linked to two different panels, sockets such as 12. are used. A socket 12 is substantially cylindrical, it has a middle ring 13 projecting towards outside, and skirts symmetrical with respect to the ring, a lower skirt 14 and an upper skirt 15. The lower skirt 14 is intended to penetrate into the upper part of the articulation piece 11, to pivot therein by friction soft. To this end, the skirt advantageously has small ribs 16 which are found in the same way on the upper skirt 15.
The middle ring 13 rests on the upper edge of the articulation piece 11, and it supports the lower edge of the articulation piece 11a. The upper skirt 15 is then placed in the lower part of the articulation piece 11a, in which it pivots with gentle friction. The sleeve 12 therefore provides a pivoting mechanical connection between the two articulation parts 11 and 11a.
The median ring 13 carries two symmetrical lateral protuberances 21 and 22 in the form of an annular sector, intended to constitute stops to limit the angle between two adjacent panels to a minimum value. In fig. 4, we see only one of these sectors, the other being symmetrical and masked by the socket. In fig. 3, the two sectors have been shown: it can be seen that they act as stops between the sections 1 and 1a when the panels are folded towards one another.
The implementation of the articulation system for furniture panels according to the invention comprises the following steps:
- first of all, the male element 10 of the articulation piece 11 is slid into the groove 6 of the profile 1. The articulation piece is placed so that its lower edge is flush with the lower edge of the profile 1.
From the inside of the profile 1, and through the bottom of the groove 6, the articulation piece 11 is fixed to the profile 1, by screwing for example,
- then the profile 1 is fixed to its panel, by screwing for example, from the outside and through the bottom of the groove 6,
- We proceed in the same way with the profile 1a and the hinge part 11a which is fixed in the position it will occupy in the hinge device, that is to say at a distance from the edge lower section 1a equal to the height of the articulation piece 1 increased by the thickness of the middle ring 13 of the socket 12,
- The profile 1a is fixed to the corresponding panel;
there are then two panels vertically bordered each with a profile which carries, rigidly fixed, a hinge part in its lower part,
- To support the articulation device and the two corresponding panels, one can constitute a foot using an end piece 17, produced from a socket 12 without a lower skirt, on which a hollow cylinder 18 is placed, corresponding to a part hinge without male element, then a socket 19 intended to receive the hinge part 11 linked to the profile 1,
- Then a socket 12 is placed in the articulation piece 11 and, over this socket, the articulation piece 11a fixed to the profile 1a;
the two profiles, integral with their respective panels are then practically in their final relative position,
- a socket 20 is then placed in the articulation part 11a,
- the male element is then inserted into the profile 1 from an articulation piece 11b, from the top of the profile 1, and it is allowed to slide until it covers the upper skirt of the sleeve 20,
- Then put in place a socket, then a hinge piece sliding in the profile 1a, and so on, alternately, until the last hinge piece is flush with the upper edge of the profiles; we can then finish by installing a nozzle, such as 17, the lower skirt of which is inserted into the articulation piece.
Thus, according to the invention, instead of producing a hinge pin by a metal rod of height equal to that of the panel, and therefore difficult to install, a series of symmetrical sockets are used which provide the mechanical pivot connection. two-by-two articulation pieces. Therefore, it suffices to have, above the panel, a height equal to that of an articulation piece.
According to an alternative embodiment, provision can be made for the foot to support the profiles 1 and 1a. It suffices to use a sleeve 19 with an overhanging middle ring, the outside diameter of which is large enough for the ring to serve as a support stop for the metal profiles. Under these conditions, it is unnecessary to fix the articulation pieces 11 and 11a on their respective panel, which simplifies the operations of implementing the articulation system.
