Description

The invention is in the field of housing amenities and it relates to an arrangement of elementary panels making up a screen intended to cooperate with a bathtub to form a shower cubicle, as well as the means of implementing said arrangement.
Such a screen is described in particular in patents n ° 8406526 (ATELIERS DE LA MOTTE), published under n ° 2563098, and n ° 8805419 (ATELIERS DE LA MOTTE), and consists of a screen adaptable to a bathtub to allow the use of the latter as a shower receptacle, said screen being of the type comprising a plurality of elementary panels consisting of a frame supporting a wall preferably made of translucent material and articulated between them, and one of which , located at the edge of the screen, is pivotally mounted around a vertical axis and translatable along the latter by means of articulation, allowing the screen in a first position, called use, to rest on the edge of the bath, and in a second position, called non-use, to be folded and folded against a wall adjacent to another side of the bath above the tap, itself located above from the edge of the tub, the screen can incorporate re-climb assistance means.
Reference may also be made to patents FR2587609 (BORSTCHER) and FR2530939 (MARIΞLLE) which describe screens for baths or shower trays mounted to pivot in order to be folded against the wall supporting them.
A drawback of these devices, in the presence of a shower head projecting from the wall, in particular in the case where said shower head is mounted permanently, lies in the risk of deterioration of the wall of the panels. elementary by it when the screen is in the non-use position.
Another drawback of these devices lies in the need for the user when he deploys the screen to arrange it in the position of use, to retain it in its downward movement which is generated by the weight of the screen.
The object of the present invention is to propose an arrangement of elementary panels making up a screen for a bathtub making it possible to fold the latter against the wall supporting the taps, and above the latter, even in the presence of a shower head. projecting from said wall, without risk of deterioration of the walls supported by the frame of each of said panels.
Another object is to provide a screen equipped with means for assisting its downward movement.
According to the invention, an arrangement of a plurality of elementary panels making up a screen for a bathtub or shower tray, of the kind of screen implementing in the first place means for pivoting said screen relative to the wall supporting the taps, and means for articulating the elementary panels together, these being composed of a frame formed by two uprights and two crosspieces supporting a wall, and secondly means for vertically moving the screen along the said wall is mainly characterized by the fact that in the presence of a shower head projecting from the wall, an amount of the frame of at least one of the panels is located opposite the shower head after pivoting di - rection of the screen wall which can be folded over the taps and recessed from the wall without the risk of the walls of the elementary panels being pushed in by the shower head.
According to a first embodiment, the bath having a width L, the width of each of the panels is substantially equal to L / 2 x C, C being between 1.2 and 1.5, so that, the screen being folded in the direction of the wall, the uprights opposite the upright opposite the fitting being in contact with the wall, the screen forms with this one a dihedral. According to another form of embodiment, the connection between the screen and the wall being obtained by means of a wall upright, an elementary panel, called a clearance panel, connected to said wall upright has a width substantially greater than the maximum dimension projecting from the whole of the taps, the amount of the last elementary panel of the screen, forming the border thereof, being opposite the taps and the width of said last panel being substantially equivalent to half the width of the bathtub. For the two forms of realization defined above, the means of pivoting and vertical displacement of the screen are located at the connection between said wall upright and the release panel connected to it, so that all the elementary panels are movable relative to the wall. According to an alternative embodiment, said means for pivoting and for vertical displacement of the screen are located at the connection between the release panel and the panel adjacent thereto, so that the release panel- ment is integral with the wall, the other panels being movable.
Advantageously, the wall of any one of the panels is a mirror, said wall preferably being that of the panel connected to the wall upright. According to any one of the above-defined embodiments, the vertical displacement means consisting of at least one hollow cylindrical slide made integral with the mobile elements of the screen and circulating in a slide formed along the fixed elements , the screen is preferably equipped in the first place with means for damping its movement vertically downwards, and secondly locking means in the high position, said damping and locking means being associated with means for vertically moving the screen.
The damping means being constituted by a gas cylinder arranged vertically, the pressure of the cylinder is advantageously slightly lower than the weight of the screen in order to allow its natural displacement downwards, the end of the rod of the cylinder being in abutment against the rim of the bathtub and the body of the cylinder being in abutment against a stop integral with the screen.
According to another form of realization, the damping means consist of the slide which is advantageously an expandable cone whose largest diameter is located at its lower end, the expansion tending to make the diameter slightly greater than that of the slide inside which the slide runs, a countersunk screw penetrating inside the slide through the lower orifice of the recess with which it is provided, the slide incorporating axially at its other end an insert threaded in which the screw is screwed, and comprising at its lower end an axial slot formed on its periphery faci¬ lit its expansion, so that the conical conformation of the head of the screw regulates the expansion in the evi¬ with which it is endowed, whence it results on the one hand that the edge formed by the circumference of said diameter constitutes a brake of the screen in its downward movement e, and on the other hand that said expansion has little effect on the upward movement of the screen.
The locking means in the high position preferably consist of a diametrically expandable cyclic finger inserted in close contact into the recess of the slide, said finger being secured to a support fixed on said fixed elements and comprising d 'a part axially at its upper end a hole threaded intended for its connection with a countersunk head screw introduced through its lower orifice, and on the other hand a conical axial recess at its lower end intended to at least partially house the conical head of the screw, from which it follows that the The expansion of the finger is obtained and adjusted by means of the insertion of the head of the screw into the recess.
The present invention will be better understood and details will be apparent from the description which will be given of a preferred embodiment, in relation to the figures of the appended plates, in which:

The screen 4 can be folded, slide vertically along an upright 22 secured to the wall 24 supporting the tap 26, and pivot in order to be folded down towards the wall 24 and above the tap 26. The presence of 'A shower head 28, which can be permanently mounted, involves a risk of deterioration of the wall 20 of the panels by the latter.
In fig.2, the screen 4 is pivotally mounted and vertically sliding by means of a slide 30. The latter on the one hand is made integral with the screen 4 by means of a heel 32 penetrating into a slide formed in the profile forming the upright of one (10) of the elementary panels bordering the screen, and on the other hand circulates inside a slide 34 arranged along the wall upright 22.
In fig.3, the panels are hinged together by means of sets of end pieces 36 and 38, one of the end pieces 38, male being articulated with another end piece 36 female, the said end pieces 36 and 38 threading each in one of the orifices of each of the profiles forming the crosspieces 16 and 18.
The arrangements, described above, are known from the prior art, and do not by themselves remove the risk of deterioration of the wall 20 when it strikes the apple 38, when the latter is placed against the wall above valve 26, as shown in the figure.
In fig.4, the bath 2 having a width L, the width of each of the panels 6 and 8 is substantially equal to L / 2 x C, C being between 1.2 and 1.5. It follows from this arrangement that the screen 4 being folded in the direction of the wall 24, one of the uprights 14 of the elementary panels is located opposite the shower head 28, the other upright 12 being in contact with the wall. The screen thus forming with the wall 24 a dihedral, a space is made to make room for the shower head 28, and the walls 20 of the elementary panels cannot be in contact with the latter.
In FIGS. 5 and 6, an elementary panel 10 bordering the so-called clearance screen 4 is connected to the wall upright 22. This panel 10 has a width substantially greater than the length of the shower head 28, thus positioning it in withdrawal by compared to the wall 24 the screen when folded. The other panel 6 bordering the screen has a width equivalent to half the width of the bath 2, in order to have one of its uprights, 14 located at the end of the screen, facing the shower head. 28.
In FIG. 5, the release panel 10 is mounted to pivot and slide vertically on the wall upright 22, while in FIG. 6, the release panel 10 is made integral with the wall mount 22 perpendicular to the wall, the elementary panel 8 being adjacent to it being pivotally mounted and sliding vertically therewith.
In fig.7, the screen 4 is equipped on the one hand with a means 40 for damping its downward movement, and on the other hand with means 42 for locking in the high position. The damping means 40 is a gas cylinder 44, the pressure of which is slightly less than the weight of the screen 4, in order to allow aided assisted descent. The end of the rod of the jack 44 is in abutment against the rim of the bathtub 2 fixed in the slide 34 of a fixed element such as the wall upright 22, while the opposite end of the body of the jack 44 is in abutment against a slide 30 of the screen 4.
These are composed on the one hand of the upper slide 30 with which the screen 4 is provided, said slide 30 being cylindrical and hollow, and on the other hand of a diametrically expandable cylindrical finger 46 which is inserted in contact narrow in the recess of the coulis¬ bucket 30. The finger 46 is integral with a support 48 fixed by means of a screw on the element integral with the wall, such as the wall upright 22, and comprises on the one hand axially at its upper end a threaded hole 50 intended for its connection with a screw 52 with a countersunk head introduced by its lower orifice, and on the other hand a conical axial recess 54 at its lower end intended to accommodate at least partially the head of the screw 52. The expansion of the finger 46 is obtained and adjusted by means of the insertion of the head of the screw 52 into the recess. The slider 30 is preferably provided with a slot 56 formed axially on its periphery at its upper end to facilitate the implementation of the locking and unlocking of the screen 4.
The slider 30 is an expandable cone, the largest diameter d of which is located at its lower end, the expansion tending to make the diameter d slightly greater than that of the slide 34 inside which it circulates. A screw 58 with a countersunk head penetrates inside the slide 30 through the lower orifice of the recess with which it is provided. Slide 30 incorporates axially at its other end a threaded insert 60 into which the screw is screwed, and comprises at its lower end an axial slot 62 formed on its periphery to facilitate its expansion. The conical conformation of the head of the screw 58 adjusts, as a function of the degree of penetration of this in the recess of the slide 30, the expansion of the lower end of the latter. Hence it results, on the one hand that the edge 62 formed by the circumference of said diameter d constitutes a brake of the screen 4 in its downward movement, and on the other hand that said expansion acts little on the upward movement of the screen 4.
Finally, although the preferred embodiment of the invention implements means known from the prior art and although a preferred embodiment has been described and shown, it should be understood that the scope of the present invention is not limited to this form but that it extends to any positive device comprising the characteristics set out above.
