Fig. 2 einen Schnitt nach der Linie II-II in Fig. 1.
The invention relates to a brush strip for a vehicle fender, an edge formation with such a brush strip, a vehicle fender with such a brush strip and an omnibus with at least one such brush strip.
Vehicle fenders are intended to protect the vehicle body and the vehicle surroundings from dirt which is whirled up by the wheels when the vehicle is moving. It is known to increase the effect of the standard fenders, which often form part of the vehicle body, by means of spray flaps which extend the fenders downwards at their rear and front ends and consist of an elastic material, in particular natural or synthetic rubber. In earlier passenger cars for high demands, it was also known to laterally conceal the wheel cutouts defined by the fender edges by the fenders associated with the plates. These plates counteracted the splashing away of the dirt and gave the vehicle an elegant appearance, but had to be dismantled and reassembled every time the wheel was changed.
The sideways spraying of dirt is generally accepted today.
The laterally open wheel cutouts are also disadvantageous because they quickly contaminate the exterior surfaces of the body, e.g. of buses, cannot prevent. These vehicles therefore have to be washed frequently.
This runs counter to the interests of environmental protection and cost reduction.
The object of the invention is to design the edges of the wheel cut-outs in such a way that the wheel arches located under the fenders are covered laterally, without this cover interfering with the steering locks on steered wheels and without the lateral cover having to be removed with each wheel change. It should also be a cover that can be assigned to the fenders from the outset, but which can also be further developed so that it can be subsequently assigned to commercially available fenders.
The features of claim 1 serve to achieve the object, expedient embodiments are characterized by the features of the dependent claims.
The invention is explained below with reference to the drawing, for example. It shows:
Figure 1 is a side view of an inventive design of a fender edge. and
2 shows a section along the line II-II in Fig. 1st
The essence of the invention is a brush strip 1, as such, e.g. for sealing lower door columns, is known. It consists of staggered rows of bristles 1a which are fastened in a base body 1b, for example glued or clamped. The base body 1b consists, for example, of a plastic. This brush strip 1 is assigned to the outer edge of a conventional vehicle fender 2. The length of the brush strip corresponds to the length of the outer edge of the fender on the inside, the width is chosen so that the space that is usually present between the fender and the rim of the tire is covered.
Since the fender is usually on the side of the tire, so that the outer circumference of the tire is slightly behind the fender edge and the fender edge area, the ends of the bristles lie somewhat to the side of the tire. However, since there are also constructions in which the tires protrude laterally over the fenders 2, it is also conceivable that the brush strip 1 stands on the tire surface or bead-like parts of the tire side wall, at least as long as it is new and has not yet worn out. To rule out the possibility of the brush strips destroying the tires, their bristles should in any case consist of an elastic material that has a lower abrasion resistance than conventional vehicle tires.
According to a preferred embodiment, a brush strip described above is inserted into a groove 3, which is located in a rubber profile 4, which is curved and assigned to the outer edge of the fender. The groove 3 is curved at least approximately in accordance with the fender edge. It is now possible to easily replace the brush strip with the rubber profile 4 and permanently assign it to the fender 2. It is possible to permanently assign the bristle strip to the rubber profile, but it is also possible to assign the brush strip 1 to the rubber profile 4 and this to the fender 2 in an easily replaceable manner.
The first solution can be advantageous if fenders should have an edge design according to the invention, the second solution could have advantages for retrofitting by having a well tradable and manageable component made of brush strip and rubber profile, and the third solution offers greatest flexibility of use.
A permanent and interchangeable assignment of the rubber profile 4 to the fender 2 is possible if the rubber profile 4 is assigned a further groove 5, which is assigned to the rubber profile, in the course and in cross-section such that the rubber profile 4 on the edge 6 a commercial or only a rudimentary fender 2 can be raised; the latter when it is intended from the beginning to assign the edge formation according to the invention to a fender which has its desired design only after the edge formation has been assigned. In any case, to ensure a good fit, the cross sections of the grooves 3, 5 and the foot of the base body 1b to be inserted into the groove 3 should advantageously be a fir tree profile.
In connection with the invention, the term “fender” can be associated with any type of wheel cover design that acts in the manner of a wheel cover. So it can be conventional fenders in the actual and conventional sense. But it can also be wheel cutouts or wheel arches of bodies, as are common today and hardly recognizable as fenders. The triggering element for the invention are the conditions for buses, and consequently the invention also relates primarily to a bus. In this case, a strip 4 is arranged on a side wall or underside of the body in the area of the wheel cutout, onto which a brush strip 1 according to the invention can be plugged via the groove 3.
