Abstract

The supple strip is made from thin plates (7, 8) which are threaded on two threads (6). The two plates are bonded together and the threads are sandwiched between them. The plates are made of wood and can be thin sheets of wood which are bonded together. The threads are made of synthetic material. The edges of the plates which are near the threads are rounded. The plates are staggered in the direction of the threads so that the slots (9) between two neighbouring upper plates (7) is not opposite the slots (10) between two neighbouring lower plates (8). USE - For making a supple bracelet, belt or tie.

Description

The subject of the present invention is a fashion article in the form of a flexible strip, such as a bracelet, belt or tie, consisting of elements mounted on at least two filiform flexible supports.

Bracelets are known which consist of elements pierced with two holes by means of which these elements are threaded on wires or cables in the manner of a pearl necklace. These bracelets are relatively thick. Given the thickness of the links, it is also difficult to simultaneously obtain continuity of the bracelet and the flexibility thereof. Finally, the elements can move on their support and intervals can appear between certain elements.

The object of the present invention is to produce a thin strip with contiguous elements perfectly retaining their mutual position.

The fashion article according to the invention is characterized in that the filiform supports are threads of synthetic material and that the elements each consist of two thin plates glued together and between which the threads are sandwiched.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the threads are made of nylon (registered trademark) and the plates consist of thin strips of wood. The elements thus appear as thin wooden plates juxtaposed and hinged together.

The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the invention.

Figure 1 is a partial plan view of a bracelet.

Figure 2 is an enlarged view in longitudinal section, along a wire, of the junction of two elements.

The bracelet shown is made up of trapezoidal elements 1, 2, 3, 4 mounted on two nylon threads (registered trademark). As can be seen in Figure 2, the nylon threads are sandwiched, in each of the elements 1 to 4, between two wooden plates 7 and 8 glued together. In the example shown, each of the wooden plates is itself made up of two wooden strips with a thickness of approximately 0.5 mm. Given the flexibility of the wooden plates 7 and 8, they are glued against one another over most of their surface and in particular along their lateral sides, so that the elements seen from the side, appear as massive elements.

As can be seen in Figure 2, the transverse edge of the wooden plates has a rounded shape on the side of the nylon threads 5 and 6, so that when the bracelet bends, the edges of the plates do not tend to shear the nylon threads.

It can also be seen in FIG. 2 that the transverse edges of the plates 7 and 8 are slightly offset with respect to each other, so that the slot 9 between the upper plates of two neighboring elements is not in face of the lower slot 10 between two lower plates of these same neighboring elements. Thus, it is not possible to see through the slots 9 and 10, which makes the interstices between the elements much less visible.

The lower slot 10 is also slightly wider than the upper slot 9 so as to allow bending having a downward concavity in the drawing. In the horizontal position, the width of the slot 9 is preferably zero. In the case of a fashion item having to be flexible in both directions, for example a tie, the slots 9 and 10 will be of equal widths, not zero.

The number of wires 5 and 6 could of course be greater than two. These threads could be made of a material other than nylon. The elements could consist of plates made of a material other than wood, for example metal or organic, synthetic or natural material or a combination of such materials.

In an execution as a watch strap, the ends of the strap could be fixed to the watch and to the clasp either by nylon threads or by pinching the end wooden plates or by any other means.
