DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a machine tool comprising a hollow frame having a lateral upright connecting a horizontal upper arm and a horizontal lower arm, these arms being provided with fastening members for various tools, the free ends of these arms being each provided with 'fastening elements of one end of a cutting saw blade and intended to give this blade a longitudinal reciprocating movement, the first of said elements being driven in a reciprocating movement by a motor housed in the frame, the other element being connected to the first by a flexible or articulated member and transmitting the movements of the element driven by the motor to the other element to give it a restoring force of the saw blade.
When the user wants to use a jigsaw instead of the cutting saw, the flexible or articulated member is subjected to unnecessary reciprocating movements which are a cause of wear. The invention aims to avoid these unnecessary movements. To this end, a connection device is provided between the first of said elements and the second element, this connection device being capable of being uncoupled.
The accompanying drawings show schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the machine tool forming the subject of the invention. However, these drawings only show the specific features of the present invention and, to get a complete idea of the machine, it would be beneficial to refer to Swiss patent N 654,241.
Figure 1 is a partial sectional view, in elevation, of this embodiment.
Figure 2 shows part of the saw blade drive mechanism.
Figures 3 and 4 show on a larger scale a connecting device to which the saw blade is fixed by its ends.
The machine shown in Figure 1 comprises an upper arm 1, an upright 2 and a lower arm 3 on which is mounted a work plate 4, shown in phantom. The upright 2 houses an electric motor 5 which drives the various tools which can be actuated by this machine. Thus, it can include a rotary spindle to form a drill, as shown in Swiss patent N 654,241. This pin is not illustrated in the drawing, because it is not part of the present invention. We only sketched a part of the drive of this spindle, namely a shaft 6, driven by a belt 7 from the motor 5.
The lower end of the motor shaft 5 carries a pulley 8, over which a belt 9 passes to drive the tools which can be fixed to elements of the lower arm 3. This belt 9 drives a horizontal shaft 10, as shown in Figure 2, for example by means of a return gear well known in itself and which has therefore not been shown.
The shaft 10, visible in FIG. 2, is part of a mechanism intended to impart a movement back and forth to a cutting saw. To this end, it carries an eccentric 11 on which is engaged the bearing of a connecting rod 12 whose foot is articulated on a lever 13 carrying a pivot 14, engaged in a recess 15 of a control part 16. The latter can pivot on a stud 17 and is subjected to the action of a jumping spring 18 which maintains it in one or other of its positions, which are determined by the abutment of a finger 19 against one end or the another of a slot 20 provided in part 16.
In the position shown in Figure 2, the pivot I4 of the lever 13 is engaged in a narrow part of the recess 15, so that it is retained vertically and that the rotation of the eccentric 11 causes an oscillating movement of the lever 13 around the pivot 14.
When the part 16 is brought into its other position, the pivot 14 of the lever 13 is located in the wide part of the recess 15 and can therefore no longer bear on the part 16. As a result, the oscillations of the lever 13 are are around the left end of this lever which is articulated at 21 on a rod 22 which can slide vertically.
This rod 22 therefore remains stationary when the pivot 14 is located in the wide part of the recess 15 of the part 16.
The rod 22 is slidably mounted, at its lower part, in a socket 23, and at its upper part in a socket 70.
The rod 22 still passes through a sleeve 27 of flexible material, mounted on a nozzle 28, provided on an internal wall 29, this in order to prevent that the sawdust produced during the work of the machine does not penetrate into the lower part of the mechanism. drive of the rod 22. At its upper part, the rod 22 carries a split hook 33 under which a counterweight 34 can be engaged forming part of the saw blade 31.
In the upper arm 1 is a second element 35 for fixing the saw blade by its upper end. This element comprises a rod 36 sliding in two bearings 37 and 38. The lower end of a part 39, articulated on the rod 36, has a hooking portion also forming a split hook for retaining the counterweight which is integral with the upper end of the saw blade 31.
With reference to FIG. 1, it can be seen that the upper element 35 is connected to the lower fixing element 22 by a flexible member-45 which is produced in the form of a metal strip passing over return pulleys 46, 47, 48, 49 and 50. This metal strip 45 is fixed to a transverse pin 51, integral with the rod 36. In the lower arm 3, the other end of the metal strip 45 is fixed to a pin 68 of a device link 57 cooperating with the rod 22. In this way, it can be seen that a movement of the rod 22 directed upwards causes a movement of the same direction and of the same amplitude of the rod 36.
It should be noted that the pulley 47 is mounted on a pivoting arm 52 cooperating with a cam 53, connected to a control button not shown. By rotation of this cam 53, it is possible to modify the length of the path of the ribbon 45 as well as the tension of this ribbon, this after having put in place the saw blade 31.
The ribbon 45 also passes over a tensioner formed by two rollers 54 and 55 mounted on a lever 56 which is subjected to the action of a spring not shown. When the blade 31 is removed, for example to use another tool provided on the machine, the lever 56 pivots and the rollers pass into the position illustrated in phantom. This lengthens the path of the ribbon 45 and brings the rod 36 back up inside the arm 1.
It is possible, as described in Swiss patent N0 654.241, to fix on the rod 22 a jigsaw instead of the cutting saw blade 31. In this case, the part 39 of the upper arm 1 remains stationary and it is advantageous uncoupling the ribbon 45 from the rod 22, to prevent the ribbon from being subjected to repeated pulls which would cause the lever 56 to oscillate continuously. The uncoupling is carried out by the device 57 which is shown in more detail in FIGS. 3 and 4.
This device comprises a vertical guide 58 fixed on the bottom of the lower arm 3. This guide has a slot 59 allowing the sliding of a part 60 made up of several parts. This sliding part comprises two plates 61 and 62, connected by two bearing screws 63, passing through two spacers 64 made of synthetic resin. These spacers form a slide and can move freely along the slot 59.
The plate 61 carries a lever 65, articulated at 66, and subjected to the action of a return spring 67. This lever carries the pin 68, which engages in a notch 69 of the plate 61. As shown in the Figure 3, the end of the flexible link 45 is fixed on this stud 68 by means of a part 71. The lever 65 has an end 72 forming a hook and intended to cooperate with a lateral projection 73 formed by a bar secured to the rod 22. This bar 73 can move in a slot 74 of the plate 61.
In the position illustrated in Figure 4, the connecting device is in the uncoupled position, because the ribbon 45 is relaxed and therefore allows the spring 67 to return the lever 65 to the illustrated position. When a saw blade 31 is fixed between the rod 22 and the upper part 39, tension is caused on the band 45 which, by means of the lever 65, moves the sliding part 60 until the upper end of the slot 74 comes into abutment against the bar 73. When the sliding part 60 is locked in its position, an increase in the traction of the ribbon 45 makes the lever 65 pivot against the action of the spring 67 and the hook of the end 72 of this lever engages on the bar 73, so that the sliding part 60 is mechanically coupled to the rod 22, to allow the use of the cutting saw 31.
In this position, the pin 68 abuts against the bottom of the notch 69, which prevents the lever 65 from exerting a lateral thrust on the bar 73.
It is clear that, when the saw blade 31 is removed, the tension of the band 45 disappears and the spring 67 brings the lever 65 back to the position illustrated in FIG. 4, thus interrupting the connection between the part 60 and the rod 22 .
