<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Machine tool suitable in particular for cutting fibrous materials.
The present invention relates to a machine tool for cutting fibrous or other material into parts of equal length. This machine tool is specially intended for the manufacture of tassels or pompoms which can be used to adorn slippers, for example.
The current state of the technology of this manufacture, consisted in tying a skein of silk, for example, at regular intervals using cords and cutting the skeins between two consecutive knots by hand using birds. ,
This naturally resulted in a very limited production which required expensive labor.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks.
For this purpose, use is made of a machine tool actuating articulated birds at determined distances on a fixed shaft, and simultaneously set in motion by a whatever mechanism.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Birds are essentially made up of two articulated elements that can be set in relative motion.
The birds can be interchangeable and the interval of two contiguous birds on the fixed tree can be varied using automatic or other devices.
Another object of the invention relates to a device for clamping the ends of the substance to be cut, which device does not include any spring.
The invention also comprises various accessories such as a tensioning mechanism for hanks, a fixed or mobile device intended to receive the finished articles, means for releasing the scissor-carrying shaft and allowing the assembly and the removal of oeux-oi, means for determining by a reference point the exact location of the skein on the machine, etc.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example and not by way of limitation, an embodiment of the invention. The latter extends to the various original features which the arrangement shown comprises.
FIG. 1 is a partial perspective view of a maohine tool according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a partial view in section of birds arranged according to the invention.
In FIG. 1, it can be seen that birds formed from elements 2a and 2b are mounted at determined distances on a fixed shaft 2 carried by the frame 4 of the machine partially represented. Birds are formed of similar elements and set in relative motion. The elements 2b are stationary and rest on the one hand on a bar 10 of the machine tool via a stop, and on the other hand are pivoted on the fixed shaft 2 on which they are threaded by means of a sleeve or socket 2m, shown in figure 2. The stops 2d are part of the body 2b,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
is a bolt 2f screwed into the stopper and allows the height adjustment of the element 2b using the nut j screwed on the screw thread of the bolt 2f.
As can be seen in Figure 2, the elements 2a are mounted with gentle friction and with play on the sleeve 2m of the element 2b.
The elements 2a have one end pivoting around the axis 2. the other end is moved by the shaft 3. The elements 2a are therefore rotated around the fixed shaft 2 by means of the lever 3b swivels around the shaft 2, and to which lever is attached at one end an arm 3a and at the other end a counterweight 8 whose position is adjustable, The element 2a is stopped in its rotation by the stop 2d of the element 2b.
The middle part of the elements 2a and 2b comprises a circular recess 2g, so as to be able to accommodate therein a cutting blade 2h by means of screws 2k. The elements 2b are furthermore provided with projections 21 to hold the substance to be cut in place: the cutting blade 2k slightly protrudes from the bottom of the hollow formed by the projections 2a. while the elements 2a can be bevelled as shown in the shaded part 20 of figure 1.
The element 2a mounted with play on the sleeve 2m of the element 2b is pressed against oelui-oi by a resilient element 5 tightened on the sleeve 2m by means of a ring 6, wedged on the sleeve by screws of pressure such as 6a.
This resilient element 5 can be formed of a curved blade attached to the element 2a by a screw 5a,
As shown in Figure 2, two contiguous birds can be separated by one or more additional rings such as 7 mounted directly on the shaft 2.
A marker device is provided in order to be able to place the skein or any other substance between the projections 21 of the elements 2b, so that the middle of the skein 'is situated in the middle of the bird-carrying tree 2. This device .
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The operative comprises for example a graduated rule 13, a rod 9 attached to a clamp 11 by claws 14, the slide 11 being able to be fixed to the bar 10 of the machine tool by means of a screw 12.
Another device claimed by the present patent is for holding the end of a skein.
It comprises a fixed part 15 fixed on the frame 4 and located at the end of the shaft 3, and provided with a hollow 15 in which is engaged the end of the skein, A pivot 15b belongs to the fixed part 15, a part 17 is pivoted on this pivot so that one end 17c of this part can engage in the hollow I5a and conform to its shape. The part 17 is rotated around the pivot I5b by means of a lug I6a of a lever 16.
The rotation of the lever 16 can be done around a fixed point of the part 15 or around the shaft 2, the rotation of the part 16 and therefore of the lug 16a allows the end 17 to be lifted. o out of the hollow 15a by means of the metal wire 18, attached in two places of the lever 17 determining an opening in which the snout I6a slides, the end I7c of the lever 17 is lifted out of the hollow 15a when the lug I6a is moved by lever 16 towards the end opposite to the end 17c of lever 17.
The end 17c clamps the skein placed in the recess 15a when the lever 16 is moved so that the lug 16a moves towards the end 17c.
The invention also provides various accessories not shown in the drawing, such as means enabling each of their ends to be quickly released from the shafts 2-3 and from the arm 3a, in order to allow the removal or replacement of one. any of the elements for repair, for example.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
It is obvious that the invention extends to the combination of the elements described whatever the individuality of the constituent elements used to achieve this combination. Modifications which can be made and which can easily be deduced from the invention are also within the scope of oelle-oi.
