The invention relates to a turbine with a hub and blades having an impeller which can be flowed through alternately in one and in the opposite flow direction by the working medium and rotates in both flow directions in the same direction of rotation, with at least two blades being combined to form a flow-interacting blade group .
The direction of flow means the direction of the meridian flow flowing through the impeller, i.e.
the component of the flow of the working fluid, which falls in a plane spanned by the axis of rotation of the impeller and a radius vector.
Such a turbine is described in US Pat. No. 4,221,538, which works with air as a working medium and is used to generate energy from the waves of the sea. This air turbine is installed in the upper neck of a vessel that is immersed in water and open at the bottom. The water in the lower part of the vessel rises and falls under the influence of the waves, as a result of which air flows out of the vessel through the neck or flows into the vessel, i.e. the air is alternately moved through the turbine in the opposite direction.
The blades of the known air turbine are arranged in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the impeller, and the profile of the blades is symmetrical to this plane, the front end of the profile in the circumferential direction being rounded off with a larger radius than the rear end of the profile in the circumferential direction . When air flows through the neck of the vessel, there is a smaller pressure at the front, better rounded end of the profile than at the sharper rounded, stronger detachment of the flow causing the flow at the rear end, so that the impeller begins to turn.
Rotating the impeller creates a relative inflow directed obliquely towards the front end of the profile as a result of the vectorial addition of the flow in the plane of the impeller resulting from the peripheral speed and the absolute inflow, possibly directed by a stator. The impeller rotates under the relative flow, which is at an angle to the profile, and delivers power. In the other, opposite direction of flow of the air, the impeller works accordingly, rotating in the same direction. Because of the described symmetry of the impeller, the efficiency and the power output of a turbine of a given size are relatively low, especially taking into account all practically unavoidable losses.
The object of the invention is to increase the power output and the efficiency of a turbine of a given size or to reduce the size of a turbine with the same power output, specifically for any gas or liquid fluid.
The invention is based on the knowledge that the known turbines are limited in the angle of attack of the relative flow due to the flow breaking off if the angle of attack is too large.
In the case of the turbine described at the outset, the object is achieved in that at least one rotor blade of a blade group can be adjusted from at least one position to another position when the flow direction is reversed, the blade group in one position relative to the blade group in the other position a plane perpendicular to the flow directions is mirror-symmetrical.
To adjust the blade groups, two main blades can each be displaceable relative to one another in the circumferential direction of the impeller, or a fixed main blade and one or two adjustable auxiliary blades can be provided.
In all types, a cross-sectional widening which is favorable in terms of flow technology is advantageously provided on both sides of the turbine and ensures acceleration and deceleration of the flow of working fluid.
In the drawings, on the basis of which the invention is explained in more detail, exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in simplified form.
The exemplary embodiments show turbines in which air is used as the fluid. Instead, the turbines within the scope of the invention can also be designed such that another gas or a liquid medium, e.g. back and forth flowing water, serves as work equipment. If necessary, partial loading of the turbine can also be used.
Show it
1 shows a section parallel to the axis of rotation of the impeller through an air turbine installed in the neck of a vessel,
2 and 3 profiles of blades, adjusted for one or the other flow direction,
4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 variants to the profiles of Fig. 2 and 3,
Fig. 10 is a partial axial section through an air turbine
and
11 shows a section along the line XI-XI in FIG. 10.
The air turbine 1 shown in Fig. 1 is arranged in an upper neck 2 of a vessel 3, of which the drawing shows only the uppermost part. The lower half of the vessel 3 is immersed in water moved by waves. The vessel 3 is open at the bottom, and the water level in the vessel 3 rises and falls under the influence of the wave movement. The air located in the upper half of the vessel 3 therefore flows through the neck 2 into the vessel in one flow direction 4 or out of the vessel in the other flow direction 5. This moving air is the working medium of the air turbine 1.
The air turbine 1 has a hub 6 and blades 7. The hub 6 is mounted in a central housing 8. In the flow direction before and after the blades 7 there are guide blades 9 which connect the housing 8 to the neck 2.
In the housing 8, e.g. in the upper part there is an electric generator which is driven by the air turbine 1.
The blades 7 are arranged in several rows to improve the flow. The profiles 7 and 72 are of the same size and are arranged one behind the other in the flow directions 4, 5 of the impeller 6, 7. The average distance between the two opposing blades is up to 1.5 times the length of the profile, advantageously 0.5 times the length of the profile.
In the exemplary embodiments shown in FIG. 1 and the following figures, the rotor blade groups are adjustable when the flow direction 4 or 5 is reversed.
This adjustment is expediently carried out automatically by the air flow itself, or by the pressure exerted by the air flow, or else by indirect transmission.
2 and 3, two main blades 7t and 72 are adjustable relative to one another in the circumferential direction of the impeller. The front main wing lying in the respective flow direction 4 or 5 is set such that it is arranged in the circumferential direction of the impeller in the direction of rotation after the rear main wing in the flow direction.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 5, the rotor blades are formed by a main wing 73 which is fixedly connected to the hub and two mutually adjustable auxiliary wings 74 and 75 which are connected to one another. The respective auxiliary wing in flow direction 4 or 5 acts with the main wing as a strongly arched wing profile, while the auxiliary wing behind in the flow direction serves as support wing.
In the case of the blades shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the front auxiliary wing in the respective flow direction 4 or 5 bears against the main wing, so that the two blades form a wing profile facing the inflowing air flow, while the rear wing with the same flow direction of the impeller Auxiliary wing forms a supporting wing for the bounded wing profile.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 8 and 9, in the direction of rotation of the impeller in front of a fixed main wing 73 there is a movable auxiliary wing 76 which forms a support wing for the fixed main wing. The auxiliary wing 7t is designed in this way. that its weight is in equilibrium with respect to its axis of rotation, but the axis of rotation lies before the point of application of the lifting force of the auxiliary wing, so that the auxiliary wing 7r is adjusted by the air flow until it stops.
The axis of rotation of the auxiliary wing 76 according to FIGS. 4 and 5, as well as the axes of rotation of the auxiliary wing pairs 74e 75 according to FIGS. 6 and 7 or FIGS. 8 and 9, lie in the plane of symmetry of the main wing 73.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 10 and 11, the pressure difference of the working medium before and after the impeller is used to adjust the blades 74, 75 when the direction of flow of the impeller is reversed. A piston 17 is attached to the hub 6 of the impeller so as to be displaceable in the axial direction of the impeller by means of a membrane 18. One side of the piston 17 is connected via at least one line 19 to the impeller side 70 on the right in the drawing. The other side of the piston 17 lies on the left side of the impeller 21, as can be seen particularly in FIG. 27. the piston 17 acts on the adjustable auxiliary wings 74, 75 via a rod 22 so that they are reversed.
The extent of the adjustment can also be determined by the size of the pressure difference. The adjustment is expediently carried out in such a way that the adjustable profile parts are in the middle position when the direction of flow changes.
In all exemplary embodiments with rotor blade groups which have blades that are adjustable relative to the hub, the end position of the blade group in one flow direction is symmetrical with the end position in the other flow direction with respect to a plane E perpendicular to the two flow directions. The impeller with adjustable blades therefore has the same flow conditions in both flow directions as the known impeller having fixed blades.
The invention has been described above using an air turbine. As already mentioned, the invention can advantageously also be implemented for other fluids, e.g. water flowing back and forth or another medium.
