The subject of the invention is an installation for the surface treatment of parts by ultrasound, in particular cleaning, degreasing or rinsing, comprising at least one tank containing a liquid subjected to the emission of at least one ultrasonic transducer.
Ultrasonic systems for surface treatment, in particular cleaning, degreasing or rinsing, of parts have been known for many years. In all the installations known to date, the parts to be treated are subjected to the effects of ultrasound through supports, baskets or shields. These supports, baskets or shields significantly reduce the efficiency of the installations, since these intermediate parts have a relatively large mass and are vibrated by ultrasound. They therefore absorb a significant part of the energy emitted.
The object of the present invention is to make the ultrasonic treatment installations more effective by eliminating supports, baskets or shields, and by subjecting the parts to be treated directly to the ultrasonic emission.
The installation according to the invention is characterized in that the emitting surface of the transducer itself forms at least part of the tank intended to receive in bulk the mass of the parts to be treated, so that the ultrasonic emission is directed directly in this mass.
The invention also relates to a method of putting the installation into action, characterized in that the parts to be treated are poured in bulk into the tank, so that the ultrasonic emission does not encounter any obstacle before the parts to be treat.
According to a preferred embodiment, the installation tray is a bowl having a horizontal pivot axis and a pouring spout, the transducer or transducers forming the bottom of the bowl. Several bins can be placed next to each other. Alternatively, at least two bins can be placed face to face. One above the other, so that the contents of one container can be pivoted into the other.
According to another variant, the installation tray can be in the form of a horizontal cylinder arranged to rotate around its major axis, closed at one of its ends and having a frusto-conical part ending in an opening at its other end, the cylinder being placed on a support allowing horizontal pivoting perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the cylinder.
Transducers forming the mantle of the cylinder can be regularly distributed over said mantle.
According to another variant, the tank can be in the form of a horizontal bowl with a central opening, into which a vertical drainage tube is introduced, the transducers being regularly distributed over the surface of the bowl around the opening central.
The drawing shows, by way of example, several variants of the installation for the surface treatment of parts by ultrasonic emission.
In the drawing:
fig. 1 is a side view of a first embodiment of a tank of an installation for the surface treatment of parts by ultrasound,
fig. 2 is a top view of the tank in FIG. 1,
fig. 3 is a side view of an installation for the surface treatment of parts by ultrasound, the tank being in the form of a cylinder rotating around its axis,
fig. 4 is a front view of the cylinder shown in FIG. 3, and
fig. 5 is a section through a variant of the installation for the surface treatment of parts by ultrasound, the tank being in the form of a bowl with a central opening.
The tray 1 shown in fig. 1 comprises a central part 2 and a pouring spout 3 against which two supports 4 and 5 are fixed, intended to receive a horizontal pivot axis 6. The central part 2 and the pouring spout 3 have a bottom 7 extended at 8 under the spout pourer 3, the bottom 7 and its extension 8 being surrounded by side walls 9, 10 and 11. Transducers 12 regularly distributed over the surface of the bottom 7 form the lower part of the tank 1 intended to receive the parts to be treated in bulk. The lower part of the tank 1 is covered by protective sheets 13 (see fig. 1) intended to enclose and protect the transducers.
The operation of the tray in fig. 1 and 2 is very. simple. Is introduced into the tray 1 a certain amount of liquid shown at 14 in FIG. 1, and the parts to be treated 15 are poured in bulk onto the bottom 7 of the tank 1. The transducers are then energized and the ultrasonic emission produced by the transducers can act directly on the parts 15 without having to pass through 9 or supports, no baskets, no buckles. When the ultrasound treatment is finished, it suffices to lift the left end of the tank 1, so as to pivot it around the horizontal axis 6, to empty the tank of the liquid 14 then of the loose parts 15 which it contains.
It is obvious to a person skilled in the art that if several treatments to be carried out run after the other are necessary, the installation may include several trays placed either one next to the other, or face to face, One slightly above the other, so that the pieces can be transferred successively from one tray to the other.
In the variant of fig. 3 and 4, the installation has a cylindrical tank 20 closed at one end by a circular wall 21 and having at its other end a frusto-conical part 22, ending in a circular opening 23. Transducers 25 are regularly distributed over the circumference and along the generatrices of the mantle 24 of the cylinder 20 and form a part of it. The transducers 25 are protected by means of a covering 26 forming
a cylinder concentric with the treatment cylinder 20. The installation of FIGS. 3 and 4 includes a support not shown, allowing the pivoting of the cylinder 20 about a vertical axis 27 perpendicular to the axis of rotation 28 of the cylinder 20. The pivot axis 27 will allow the cylinder 20 to be pivoted so as to remove the pieces after treatment.
In operation, the cylinder 20 of the embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4 is filled with a cleaning liquid 29, and the parts 30 are poured loose inside the drum through the opening 23. The cylinder 20 is rotated about its axis 28 and the transducers 25 are put under pressure. In view of the arrangement of the transducers 25, the ultrasonic emission directly strikes the parts which are stirred by the rotational movement of the cylinder 20. When the treatment operation is finished, the cylinder 20 is stopped, and the cleaning liquid 29 and the parts 30 can be removed from the cylinder 20 by tilting said cylinder around the axis 27. It is obvious to a person skilled in the art that the opening 23 can be closed by means of a cover and that the level of the liquid 29 can go up in the cylinder.
In the variant of FIG. 5, a tank 31 is in the form of a bowl 32 having a central opening 33 and an outlet duct 34. Transducers 35 are placed against the circular surfaces 36 and 37 of the bowl. In the central opening 33 is introduced a tube 38 acting as a plug having on its circumference at a given height liquid circulation holes 39. The tank shown in the variant of FIG. 5 operates in the same way as the bins of the previous embodiments. The pipe 38 is put in place in the opening 33, so as to close the said opening, and liquid 40 is introduced under pressure into the pipe 38 and exits through the openings 39 by filling the bowl 32 and producing a circulation of the liquid in the tank according to arrows 41.
Parts to be treated are poured in bulk on the bottom 36 and can also come to bear against the lateral surface 37. The transducers 35 are energized and cleaning is carried out. When the cleaning operation is finished, it suffices to lift the pipe 38 to allow the liquid to flow through the opening 33 and the pipe 34, then to recover the parts on the surface 36. I1 is obvious to the skilled in the art that the embodiment of fig. 5 can also be put into operation without circulation of liquid 40.
In this case, the bowl 32 will simply be filled with liquid and the orifices 39 of the tube 38 will be removed or placed higher as overflow orifices.
It is obvious that the embodiments and variants which have just been described can undergo many changes without thereby departing from the scope of the invention, the main idea of which is to provide an installation for treatment by emission. ultrasound in which the parts to be treated are subjected directly to the action of the transducers in the most effective way without baskets, supports or shields intended to contain the parts.
