Description
The invention relates to a diazo material with improved light stability of the image dyes.
The image dyes of diazotypic materials are exposed to considerable stress due to the radiation on the reader and through duplicating processes of diazo materials on diazo materials. Therefore, in addition to the maintenance of all other essential properties such as sensitivity, resolving power, coupling activity and duplication ability, the light stability of the image dyes is an essential parameter of powerful diazo systems.
It is possible to a limited extent to improve the bleaching resistance of the azo dyes formed by suitable substitution of diazonium and / or coupler components. However, the efficiency is low with a relatively high synthesis effort.
It has therefore proven to be more advantageous to add certain compounds to the diazo system which suppress fading under the conditions of the reading and exposure devices. These bleaching inhibitors have to meet several constraints, such as system compatibility, suitable absorption maximum (absorbing as short as possible as the diazo component), stability in the processing process and good accessibility. So far, sterically hindered phenols (DE-PS 1 772 981), ethylenediamines (DE-AS 1 797 322) and 3-aniline-opyrazoles (DD-WP G 03 c / 221 629) have been used as additives. The disadvantage of these compounds is the relatively low activity and, in part, the high amount of synthesis required to prepare the substances. Phosphoric acid anilides (DD-WP G 03 c / 222 062) are relatively easy to produce, but worsen their ability to duplicate. It is intrinsic to all the compounds described so far that they only maintain light stability until they are destroyed.
The aim of the invention is to significantly improve the light stability of diazo materials.
The compounds which have hitherto been used to increase the light stability have the disadvantage that their effect is too low in relation to the length of time.
It is the object of the invention to find additives to the diazo material which stabilize the image dyes in such a way that no or only slight bleaching effects occur even when exposed to light for several hours. All other properties of the material should be retained. The object is achieved according to the invention in that the one- or two-component diazo material with bleach inhibitor contains one or more Cu (II) salts of organic carboxylic acids.
Cu (II) salts of organic carboxylic acids such as e.g. unbranched saturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acids (capric acid), branched saturated aliphatic (methyl ethyl acetic acid), unbranched unsaturated aliphatic (propiolic acid), branched unsaturated aliphatic (methacrylic acid) aromatic (salicylic acid), araliphatic (mandelic acid), cyclic aliphatic cyclic (cyclo) acid Isonicotinic acid), saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acids (adipic acid), unsaturated aliphatic (maleic acid), aromatic (phthalic acid), hydroxycarbonic acids (lactic acid), halocarboxylic acids (α, ß-dichloropropionic acid), keto acids (benzofruenic acid) and tricarboxylic acids (citric acid) are used (citric acid). The Cu (II) salts are easily accessible synthetically (Gmelins Handbuch der inorganic Chemie, vol. Cu) and, when used as inhibitors, lead to a considerable increase in the lightfastness of the diazo materials. They show good system compatibility, so that all other requirements for a diazo system such as duplication, thermal stability and sensitivity are fully met.
To prepare a diazotype casting solution, the copper salts are mixed with a diazonium salt, a stabilizer acid and, if appropriate, with one or more couplers and then dissolved in a polymer solution.
This casting solution is then applied to a layer support. Suitable diazonium salts include 2-aminobenzendiazonium, 4-aminobenzendiazonium, 4-thiobenzendiazonium salts and phenylenediamines. Suitable couplers are all known ones which contain a hydroxyl group in the o-position, e.g. 2-hydroxy-3-naphtha-mide, 2,3-dihydroxynaphthalenes, resorcinol or ß-naphthol. Cellulose derivatives, vinyl polymers, copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, polystyrenes, mixed polymers of alkyl acrylates and acrylic acid, and polyethylene oxides can be used as binders. Furthermore, the material can also contain the usual additives such as stabilizer acid, development accelerator and plasticizer. Support materials for the photosensitive layer can be polymer films of e.g. Polyethylene terephthalate, cellulose triacetate, paper, tracing paper, glass and metal.
