Fig. 2 eine Schnittansicht entlang der Linie II-II in Fig. 1,

The invention relates to a mattress with a cover and core. whereby the core bounded by a head, foot and side part. has central area, which is divided by recesses in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
A mattress of this type is e.g. B. from CH-PS 600 838 known. The central area is designed as an interchangeable insert embedded in the mattress surface. which should allow it. adjust the hardness of the mattress to changing needs. However, this embodiment does not take into account that mattresses should be as flexible as possible in the longitudinal direction in order to B. to be able to adjust in reading position of the correspondingly set document. Furthermore, the known mattress can only be used on one side, which represents a further undesirable limitation. According to CH PS 571 845, another known mattress has a lying surface divided by recesses in the longitudinal and transverse directions. This mattress has the same drawbacks as the first one.
In addition, there is a risk of rolling out in this embodiment due to the lack of lateral support.
The aim of the invention is to create a mattress that can be used on both sides and that is easily bendable in the longitudinal direction without its dimensional stability and lying comfort being impaired. Despite its flexibility, it should offer sufficient lateral support.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the central region of the core has a base with foam blocks projecting from it on both sides, spaced apart in the longitudinal and transverse directions, which determine part of the lying surface on both sides, and that the head, foot and side parts are essentially made of there are compact pieces of foam, the side parts being cut in the transverse direction from the lying surfaces.
The core is preferably constructed from two half-pieces joined together in the central plane between the lying surfaces, each half-piece forming one of the lying surfaces.
It is advantageous to form the central area from latex foam, the foot, head and side parts from polyether foam.
The construction according to the invention allows good flexibility in the longitudinal direction in that the spaces between the support blocks and the incisions on the outside of the bend can be opened, while on the inside of the bend the support blocks can approach one another.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described in more detail below with reference to the drawings.
Show it:
1 is a perspective view of a mattress according to the invention,
2 is a sectional view taken along the line II-II in Fig. 1,
3 is a perspective view of a mattress according to FIG. 1 in the bent state,
4 is a perspective, schematic representation of two half-pieces forming the mattress,
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the shell and
6 is a sectional view through the envelope along the line VI-VI in FIG .. 5
Conventional mattresses are poorly suited for use with adjustable bed frames, which e.g. B. enable the unwinding of the head part or the foot part, since the requirement for long-lasting stability of the mattresses usually leads to configurations which are detrimental to the flexibility in the longitudinal direction. The mattress core 1 designed according to the invention, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, has a head part 2 and a foot part 3, both of which consist of compact pieces of foam. The bendable part 4, which is formed by two side parts 5 and a central region 6, extends between these pieces. The head, foot and side parts are made of polyether foam, which is less elastic than the latex foam used for the central area 6 and at the same time has a lower density.
Furthermore, the weight of the core can be reduced. The central region 6 is formed by a multiplicity of foam blocks 7, which are spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal and transverse directions. The foam blocks 7 each of a lying surface are connected at their base, as can be seen from FIG. 2. On the head, foot and side parts
adjacent blocks 27 are connected to them. The side parts 5 are cut in the transverse direction from the lying surfaces. The arrangement of the incisions 8 corresponds to the transverse recesses 9 between the blocks 7. The incisions open into ventilation channels 10, which also run in the transverse direction through the side parts 5.
If the mattress is bent, the incisions 8 on the outside of the bend can open, as shown in FIG. 3, and the recesses between the foam blocks 7 can expand. On the inside of the bend the foam blocks 7 approach each other without much resistance and adapt to the smaller radius on the inside of the bend. As a result, the bend can be carried out without a large bending moment. by the material deformation occurs essentially only in the area of the central plane between the lying surfaces, which in turn is excessive
Prevents material compression and stretching, which leads to undesirable wrinkling or bulging and increased
Would cause material stress. The mattress 1 therefore easily adapts to the shape of a base.
It can also be seen that the core structure described gives the mattress, which is bent in the longitudinal direction, only a small restoring moment, so that within a large bending area the tendency of the core 1 to straighten again is small and is compensated for by the weight of the mattress.
The design of the core has the further consequence that, despite the flexibility in the longitudinal direction, the stability in the transverse direction is maintained in that the head, foot and side parts are essentially compact and made from the less elastic polyether foam. This prevents unwanted sideways slipping or rolling off the mattress.
The transition from the central area 6 and head, foot and side parts does not occur abruptly by connecting the outermost foam blocks 27 to the head, foot and side parts.
As already stated, the central region 6 of the core 1 is formed on both sides by foam blocks 7 which are arranged at a distance from one another. In addition to the explained favorable effects on the bendability of the mattress, this has the effect that, under local loads, the loaded area of the core yields elastically without influencing adjacent areas. If the load is distributed, on the other hand, there is a good support effect over the entire surface.
As a result, the user sinks more sideways with the shoulder and pelvis, which create local stress, than with the other parts of the body. The spine remains essentially stretched, as doctors now consider it to be optimal. In a supine position, the seat area sinks more than the back area, which in turn leads to an optimal lying position. The compactly designed head and foot parts 2, 3 support the head and feet. The above-mentioned favorable effects of the mattress core designed according to the invention do not require flexible support of the support slats of the base, but rather result from the deformation properties of the core 1 and the cover 11, which will be discussed further below.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, the core 1 has an essentially symmetrical structure with respect to the central plane between the lying surfaces. The area of this central plane forms a coherent base 12 extending through the core 1, while the core 1 is provided with recesses 9 and incisions 8 on both sides from the lying surfaces. For the production of the core, it is therefore advantageous to use two half-pieces 13, 14 which essentially correspond to one another and which are joined to one another in the central plane, as is shown schematically in FIG. 4. A bomb wedge 15 can be inserted between the half pieces 13, 14 in the central area 6, which is also made of foam and gives the core 1 a certain prestress.
The arrangement of the bomb wedge 15 in the central plane and as part of the base 12 has the effect that the bending properties of the core 1 are not significantly impaired. Bands 16, which run between opposite side edges and whose ends are provided on both sides with handles 17, which are provided for transportation, for sweeping the mattress, etc., are likewise inserted between the half-pieces 13, 14.
This arrangement ensures that the handles cannot be torn out of the core 1 even after prolonged use and, moreover, does not impair the flexibility in the longitudinal direction.
The mattress cover 11, the structure of which will be explained below with reference to FIGS. 5 and 6, supports the favorable properties of the core 1 shown above. It is provided on the outside with a stretchable fabric 18 (a so-called stretch fabric), which in the transverse direction with underlying cushion layers 19, 20 is quilted. The extensibility of the fabric 18 and the quilting 22 running only in the transverse direction have the effect that the sheath 11 is readily extensible in the longitudinal direction and therefore does not hinder the flexibility of the core 1 in the longitudinal direction. Furthermore, a local stretching of the tissue 18 is also possible in the transverse direction, which together supports longitudinal stretching the local elasticity of the central region 6 of the core 1.
The cushion layers 19, 20 consist of a layer of sprayed virgin sheep's wool 19 and a layer of polyether foam 20. On the inside, the cover 11 is provided with a stretchable, low-adhesion fabric 21, a so-called charmeuse fabric. Correspondingly, the core 1 is also surrounded by such charmeuse fabric 23, as is indicated in FIG. 2. This fabric 23 is at the core between the two half parts
13, 14 (Fig. 4) attached. The low-adhesion charmeus 21 or. 23 on the inside of the shell and core 1 have the effect that the friction between the core and the shell is minimal, in turn to maintain good bendability of the
Longitudinal mattress as well as to ensure local
Impressibility in the central area.
The low friction between the shell 11 and the mattress core 1 excludes the risk of shifting the stress on the mattress
Shell 11 relative to the core 1 in itself. To prevent this undesirable effect, anchoring of the shell 11 is in the middle plane between the couch surfaces
Core 1 provided. This consists of a zip fastener web 24, which is attached between the half-pieces 13, 14 and corresponds to a corresponding zip fastener web on the inside of the cover (not shown). The flexibility of the mattress is not impaired by the arrangement of the anchoring 24 in the central plane. The releasability of the anchoring 24 allows the sheath 11 to be removed from the core 1 for cleaning.
The same purpose is also served by the outer zipper 25, by means of which the cover 11 consisting of two halves can be joined or separated. The zipper 25, which is inelastic in its longitudinal direction, hardly influences the flexibility of the mattress thanks to its position in the middle plane between the lying surfaces.
Openings 26 for the handles 17 (FIG. 5) are provided laterally in the cover and pass through these openings from the mattress.
The mattress according to the invention has the advantage of good bendability due to the features explained, whereby the lying properties are retained even in the bent state and in particular no beads and folds occur.
At the same time, good ventilation of the core 1 through the recesses 9 and the corresponding ventilation channels 10 is ensured. The same features that lead to flexibility, such as. B. the design of the sheath 11, at the same time result in good lying comfort, in that the central area is easy to press in the lying surfaces under local load, but is stable under surface load. Despite its flexibility in the longitudinal direction, the mattress has dimensional stability and gives lateral support.
