Abstract
An electrically conductive metal layer (25) is vapour deposited onto an electrically non-conductive substrate (21). Subsequently, stop-off lacquer is applied to surface sections of the metal layer (25). The sections free from stop-off lacquer are then electroplated with a metal layer (27). The symbols consisting of the metal layers (25, 27) are then produced by removing the lacquer layer (26) and etching the vapour-deposited metal layer (25). <IMAGE>
