7. Socket connection according to claim 1, characterized in that the sealing ring (9) has a substantially semicircular cross section.
The present invention relates to a socket connection for sewage pipes. Pipes for sewage pipes are either made of asbestos cement, stoneware, concrete or plastic. In most cases a so-called socket connection is used to connect two pipes. that is, one end of the pipe is enlarged in diameter and thereby forms a so-called sleeve, while the other end of the pipe, as a so-called pipe tip, is inserted into this sleeve. The seal between the socket and the pipe tip is achieved by a sealing ring, which is always designed as a so-called rolling ring for stoneware and concrete pipes.
The term rolling ring comes from the fact that when a sleeve connection of this type is made, a sealing ring is fitted onto the pipe tip and the pipe tip is then inserted into the sleeve, the sealing ring being rolled into its end position between the pipe tip and the sleeve. In the case of concrete and stoneware pipes, it is known to also use cellular rubber for such sealing rings that function as rolling rings. The disadvantage of such a sealing arrangement is that a rolling ring cannot be brought into its desired end position with certainty, since when rolling in there is always the risk that the rolling ring will be rolled unevenly in the gap, causing twists and the like, so that both the tightness of the socket connection produced and its service life may be severely impaired.
When using plastic pipes for sewage pipes, compact or hollow solid rubber rings are usually used, which are inserted into a bead that is formed in the sleeve of the plastic pipe, so that no change in the position of the sealing ring should occur when the pipe tip is inserted into the sleeve. The disadvantage of this sealing system is that the softness and suppleness of compact sealing materials cannot be adapted to every required situation. There are applications in which particularly soft seals are required, which can be pressed more strongly when installed and thus ensure a relatively large sealing surface.
This problem arises in particular when relatively high wastewater pressures have to be expected, which are already at the maximum limits set by OE-NORM B 2503, for example. Sealing rings made of compact rubber cannot be made so soft without their other properties, which are also required for their function, not sinking too far. The use of hollow sealing rings is only a partial solution here, since such rings develop their sealing effect not by compression, but by deformation of the cross section, and therefore their elasticity, which causes the sealing effect, is subject to a greater drop in time. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that a hollow sealing ring is deformed asymmetrically when the pipe tip is inserted.
The present invention has therefore set itself the goal of eliminating the disadvantages of the known socket connections and, regardless of the type of material of the sewage pipes to be connected, of creating a possibility of achieving an optimally tight connection even under extreme conditions.
This is achieved in that a sealing ring made of cellular rubber with a density of 0.5-1.0, preferably 0.6-0.9, g / cm3 is arranged in a circumferential bead provided in the sleeve.
The arrangement of the cellular rubber sealing ring in the bead on the one hand achieves the necessary secure fit to prevent the sealing ring from becoming tangled when the pipe tip is inserted into the sleeve, and on the other hand, by using the cellular rubber, an adaptation to even unfavorable ones, already at the limit of Pressure resistance of such sealing systems created lying type of seal. The advantage of this sealing ring made of cellular rubber is also that, due to its softness, it is able to evenly compensate for manufacturing tolerances of the pipe tip or the sleeve.
It is also irrelevant in the case of the socket connection according to the invention if successive pipes enclose an angle slightly different from 1800, since such stresses can be compensated for by the structure of the sealing ring in connection with the secure fit in the bead.
For the use of sealing rings with a circular or elliptical cross section, it is expedient if the bead is essentially rectangular, because such sealing rings can be held well in a rectangular bead.
However, it can also be expedient if the bead is essentially in the form of a circular section, because then - particularly with larger pipe nominal widths - there is full support of a circular sealing ring on the socket side.
In particular for seals with a triangular uniform thickness cross section, it is advantageous if the bead is essentially trapezoidal in narrowing towards the inside, because then such a sealing ring somewhat encompasses the bead and is held particularly securely and securely.
For many applications, it is expedient if the seal has a circular cross section. However, very good sealing properties are also achieved if the seal has a cross-section in the form of a preferably three-sided constant thickness. A seal with an essentially semicircular cross section is also expedient for some applications.
The invention is explained in more detail below by way of example with reference to the drawing. 1 shows a sleeve connection according to the invention in cross section, FIG. 2
up to 4 different sealing rings in different bead designs.
1 shows a sleeve connection of plastic pipes, the sleeve pipe 1 being expanded at the end to a sleeve 2 in which a bead 3 is formed. A pipe tip 4 protrudes into the sleeve. Between the pipe tip 4 and the sleeve 2, the sealing ring 5 made of cellular rubber (cellular rubber) is inserted in the bead 3. It has been found that the socket connection according to the invention is particularly expedient and advantageous for socket pipes
Plastic can be used, since with these the formation of a bead is easy to manufacture. As already stated in the introduction to the description, such plastic sleeve pipes are also used for compact rubber sealing rings.
FIG. 2 shows a bead 6, which is cut out in cross-section and has an inserted sealing ring 5, which is circular in cross-section. The sealing ring 7 according to FIG. 3 has the cross section of a three-sided constant thickness and is inserted into a bead 3 with a rectangular cross section. In contrast, the cross section of the bead 8 shown in FIG. 4 is designed to narrow inward trapezoidal, so that the seal 9, which is semicircular in cross section, is held clasping therein. Any other configuration of a bead cross section and a sealing ring cross section is of course also possible within the scope of the invention. Only the technical requirement must be met that the pressure that the seal has to withstand is safely within the functional range in accordance with the regulations.
The regulations in Austria currently recommend a 5 m water column.
