1528700 Electronic timer DAINI SEIKOSHA KK 25 Nov 1976 [27 Nov 1975] 49227/76 Heading G3T An electronic timer particularly for games, comprises down-counters 13, 14, 15, Fig. 3, the counter 15 serving to memorize a 10 minute half-time rest period while counters 13, 14 memorize 40 min and 20 min periods respectively. A switch 32 is operable to select either the counter 13 for timing each half of a football match or the counter 14 for timing basketball, and accordingly a display portion 5, Fig. 1, is activated to show either a footballer or basketball player in action. A digital display of remaining time is given and an alarm generator 23 (e.g. a buzzer) is activated when the display shows 00.00. The counting sequences are controlled by a shift register 22. With switch 32 closed to select basketball counter 14, a switch 18 is momentarily closed at the start of a timing period thus providing a shift pulse so that output Q 2 of SR 22 becomes "1". The resulting output of AND 30 releases a reset on counter 14 which begins counting 1 Hz pulses from a frequency divider 11 fed by an oscillator circuit 10. At the end of the 20 min period, the counter 14 produces a signal which causes activation of the alarm and shifts SR 22 output to Q 3 . Thereby counter 14 is reset and the reset on counter 15 is released so that it begins to count the 10 min interval at the end of which counter 15 likewise produces a signal to shift SR 22. Thereupon counter 14 begins to time the second half of the game. The counting of any period can be temporarily interrupted by opening a switch 12.
