Abstract

A sulphonated anionic polyester of molecular mass of between 500 and 3000, whose acid value is lower than 20 mg KOH/g, and containing 0.8 to 2% by weight of sulphur is reacted - with at least one diisocyanate - at a temperature of between 130 and 230 DEG C, the molar ratio NCO/OH + COOH being lower than 1. A polyurethane is finally obtained which dissolves easily in cold water giving a clear solution which is stable in storage and advantageously usable for sizing warp yarns for weaving without fouling weaving looms.
