Luftverbrauch entspricht die Luftmenge ungefähr der Luft mellg;e'; welche für die Fermentation benötigt wird;
1 kg Hefetrockensubstanz
4 kg Wasser
Da die Produktion 400 kg Trockenhefe beträgt, müssen also stündlich

6. The method according to claim and dependent claims 1 to 5, characterized in that all condensates coming from the dryer are fed to the fermenter.
The invention relates to the embodiment of the method of the main patent no. 590.334 for the processing of fermentation using alcohols, preferably ethyl. or methyl alcohol as a carbon source.
According to claim of the main patent 590.334, a method is described which is characterized in that the alcohol used for fermentation is initially used to remove the thickened biomass separated from the fermenters by exchange, respectively. To rid the washout of water.
Although the biomass resulting from the addition of alcohol, which has to be diluted for the installation anyway, is obtained in a crumbly form after the filtration and can be dried in rotating drums or similar dryers, apparatuses that contain air or gases are often used for this drying Use as a drying agent.
The object of the invention is to provide a method for the most complete possible utilization of the dryer exhaust air with regard to oxygen and alcohol content.
This object is achieved by a method for processing proteins produced by fermentation from alcohols as a carbon source, which are then subjected to drying, which is characterized in that the exhaust air from the dryer is used as an oxygen source for the fermentation.
It has now been found that in the process described, not only the alcohol-containing liquid can be returned to the fermentation plant, but also the drying air from the dryer. It is obvious that this drying air not only carries the residual water from the thickened biomass, but also the remaining alcohol from the dilution or. Leaching and, above all, all the oxygen in the air.
Depending on the type of drying equipment used (atomization dryer, fluid-bed dryer, drum dryer, etc.), the amount of air required for drying 1 kg of biomass is different.
Even in drying machines with a relatively large
Air consumption corresponds to the amount of air approximately the air mellg; e '; which is needed for fermentation;
The procedure also has the advantage that in
Not only the remaining alcohol is washed out of the air and consequently recovered for the fermenter
Fermentation, but that in the fermenter, when the air is washed out, many substances are absorbed, which cause air pollution during drying.
If the drying involves apparatus that work at relatively low air pressure or without pressure, the air flowing out of the drying apparatus is sucked off and fed to the fermenter by compression. The air can be cooled with the cooling water from the fermentation plant before it enters the fermenter. Any liquid (alcohol-water) that may be removed during compression is also fed into the fermenter.
It should also be noted that the normal
Dust losses from the drying systems are eliminated by the process described, since the exhaust air is washed out in the fermenter.
The whole process forms a closed system with total recycling of the air and liquid. Of course, it is also possible to use this air recycling in fermentation plants, where emphasis is placed on leaching the air out of the drying plants, be it because of odor nuisance from the dryer or to recover the drying dust.
The procedure should be explained in more detail using an example. This is a yeast fermentation in which methanol is used as a carbon source.
In a fermenter 1 of 100 m8 usable volume, which can be designed with or without a stirrer 13, with a productivity of 4 kg of dry matter biomass per
Hour and per m3 worked from methanol. This corresponds to 400 kg of dry yeast per hour. This requires 2.5 times the amount of methanol as a carbon source, ie. 1000 kg per hour. The salts are metered in from vessel 14.
In the separator 2, the yeast suspended in the water (substrate) is continuously drawn off and thickened to approx. 20% biomass. In the biomass container 4, the methanol from tank 5 'is now added via line 5, calculated on 1 kg dry matter 2.5 kg methanol. The composition in the biomass tank 4 is therefore:
1 kg yeast dry matter
4 kg of water
2.5 kg of methanol The filter 6 is then thickened to such an extent that the yeast concentration is 30-40%, which is easily possible because it is easy to filter with the addition of methanol.
The composition after the filter is therefore: approx. 1.2 kg of water
0.8 kg of methanol
1 kg of yeast
This mass is kept under temperature in an apparatus
15 autolyzed and liquefied and placed on the dryer 16.
Since the production is 400 kg of dry yeast, so every hour
1.2 x 400 = 480 kg of water + O, S x400 = 320 kg of methanol can be evaporated.
Since methanol has an evaporation heat of approx. That of water, approx. 640 kg have to be evaporated to water.
If we are counting on an atomization dryer that is able to evaporate 640 kg / h of water, this has to have an air flow of approx. 400 - 450 m3 / min.
Have air or at an elevated temperature 300 - 350 m3 / min.
Since 3 vvm of air must be expected in the fermenter for a productivity of 4 kgXmS / h methanol, this corresponds to 300 m3 / min., Sd.h. for a fermenter volume of 100 m3. exactly the amount of air required in a guben gas dryer.
Instead of the spray dryer 16, which in this
Example mentioned, dryers can of course also be used, which require less air. For example, drum dryers can also be used in which drying takes place using direct heat. Here the vapors are sucked off with relatively little air and fed into the fermenter.
The air intake from the dryer 16 can take place directly through the compressor 17, which presses the air into the fermenter 1. Any condensate formed is collected in 18 and pumped into the fermenter. The air coming from the dryer 16 is cooled with the fermenter cooling water
The saving in drying energy is approx. 70-80%.
