Abstract

Knitted goods such as seamless undergarments with two legs, are produced on circular knitting machines by knitting first one leg using all the needles, beginning with the toe to the end of the thigh section. without removing the stitches, part of the needles corresp. to the inner zone of the upper high to form the crotch are put out of action, and with the remaining needles a first tubular section, open in the lengthways direction, and forming an extension of the first leg is knitted, so as to form the first half of the trouser structure with an elastic rim. The stitches are then cast off all the active needles and a second tubular section open lengthways is knitted, opposed to the first section, beginning with the elastic rim to the crotch zone. The needles put out of action are brought back so as to close the crotch and finish knitting on all needles down through the thigh to the toe. Prods. are cheaper to produce then seamed garments but give a good fit, esp. when shaped during mfr., by selecting the needles which are put out of action and brought back in during the knitting of the second half.
