Abstract

The piston-type motor is driven by a medium under pressure, particularly compressed air. It has two or more pistons (3, 3') acting in opposite directions on the motor shaft with constant torque(r). Reversal of the direction of piston movement is effected by a mechanism controlled by the pistons themselves, the shaft always rotating in the same direction. Each piston can have a rack (8) parallel to and fixed to it, meshing with a pinion coaxial to the shaft, which it drives via a freewheel coupling. The pistons can be arranged to work in the same direction, one driving the shaft on the outward stroke and the other on the return one.
