Fig. 1 Stirnseitige Ansicht auf das Gehäuse bei offenem Hohlkörper.
Fig. 2 Längsseitige Ansicht des Gehäuses.

The present invention relates to a housing for at least one ballast, consisting of a tubular profile rod and two profile covers which close off the side openings. The housing with built-in ballast can be used as a light fitting for fluorescent lights, especially for workplace and machine lights.
The invention is based on the object of producing a housing with the following properties: a) Stable type of fastening.
b) Great stability, suitable for the construction of joints, articulated rods, metal hoses, etc.
c) Easy installation of the ballast.
d) Possibility to install ballasts of different lengths and several ballasts.
e) Possibility of installing lamp terminals, starters, plug contacts, etc.
f) Simple assembly and good accessibility of the cable connections.
g) Good heat dissipation ability.
According to the invention, the problem is solved with a housing which is characterized by a one-piece profile rod with a hollow body and at least one longitudinal flange protruding beyond the hollow body on the outside, which flange is designed to be placed on a support surface.
An embodiment of the invention is described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Show it:
Fig. 1 Front view of the housing with the hollow body open.
Fig. 2 Longitudinal view of the housing.
An extruded, tubular profile rod made of aluminum alloy with two flanges 1, which protrude longitudinally beyond a hollow body 2 and form a base, is screwed onto a support surface 3. The support-side front 4 of the hollow body 2 is lifted from the support surface 3. Thickenings of the wall 5 of the hollow body are designed as ribs which have bores 6 on the end face. The holes 6 serve to accommodate screws 7 so that the profile covers 8 can be screwed on. The flanges 1 have bores which are used to fasten the housing with screws 9. A ballast 10 is pushed into the hollow body 2 and installed there. The cable is fed through a clamping nipple 11, which is screwed into the longitudinal side of the hollow body. Lamp clamps 12 are attached to the profile cover 8.
The cable outlet 13 goes through a metal hose 14.
The advantages that can be achieved by the invention are as follows: In a known manner, the housing was previously manufactured separately and fastened to a base with screws, which in turn was then screwed onto the support surface with screws. The invention enables the production of a housing with a base and a hollow body from one piece, with which only one screw connection is statically loaded, whereas in the known system two screw connections are statically loaded. The one-piece profile rod with flange gives the housing increased stability, with all requirements set out in points a) to g) being met.
