**WARNUNG** Ende DESC Feld konnte Anfang CLMS uberlappen**.
So far, apart from glass, metal, wood and / or Eternit have been used as materials for aquariums. Pure glass aquariums without a frame often do not have the desired stability; They are particularly at risk because of the sound reproduction devices with high output power set up in the same rooms, because the natural frequency of the aquariums can be excited in excessive oscillation amplitudes.
In other known aquariums, which usually have a metal frame, more or less large glass windows are attached. The other surfaces made of metal, wood or Eternit exposed to the action of water are coated with varnish or plastics and therefore require complicated operations.
In addition, the frame structures often create an unfavorable aesthetic impression, which is a particular disadvantage in an aquarium, which is usually intended to contribute to the beautification of a room.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of creating an aquarium which is designed in such a way that no frame is necessary and which, despite simple manufacture and solid quality, has an aesthetically advantageous effect.
The object is achieved according to the invention in that the walls and the floor consist of composite panels with a thermoplastic core and metallic cover plates and that at least on the front side a transparent pane is attached in a corresponding opening in the composite material.
The preferred thermoplastic material is polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride. while the glued-on cover sheets of the composite panel are preferably made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy.
Depending on the size of the aquarium, a correspondingly thick composite panel is used, e.g. B. a 5 mm thick polyethylene core layer with 0.5 mm thick aluminum cover sheets for an aquarium of 150 l. In any case, with the appropriate choice, the composite material is sufficiently rigid that a frame is not necessary.
According to an expedient manufacturing process for the object according to the invention, two composite panels are bent into U-shaped shells. In order to make the aesthetic impression of the later aquarium as advantageous as possible, the radius of curvature is 3-40, preferably 6-8 cm depending on the size. The necessary watertight connection of the individual parts of the aquarium is made by hot-air welding the cores of two U-shaped shells and inserting a correspondingly punched-out base made of composite material, also by hot-air welding the plastic cores. The plastics to be welded must be miscible in the molten phase.
In a further development of the invention is the inside of the aquarium, with the exception of the transparent panes.
coated with a soft polyvinyl chloride film, also called swimming pool film. For this purpose, the starting material is coated on one side with the soft PVC film. When the coated composite panels are processed by cutting, bending and welding the core material, there is no mechanical or thermal damage to the coating film, nor is its adhesion to the metallic cover panel impaired.
After the waterproof connection of the composite panels, the joints of the PVC coating film are also connected waterproof by means of hot air welding or swelling. This achieves a double water seal, which is not necessarily neccessary per se, but is advantageous as a safety measure.
The attachment of the pane made of glass or plastic, which is attached at least to the front side, can be carried out using clamping rubber profiles or other known sealing systems.
