Abstract

A process for the mfr. of a needled or tufted non-woven fabric, suitable for clothing fabrics, blankets, carpets characterised in that a basic support fabric is first prepared by needling or tufting a suitable woven or mesh fabric with fine wool or wool combing fibres, using staple fibre, spun yarns or continuous filaments according to whether these fibres are natural fibres, or synthetic materials, and subsequently providing further layers of needled fibre of the same type different material using No. 32 - No. 36 needles (English standard), the resulting material being compacted or compressed by fulling machines and/or stretched under moist conditions.
