The invention relates to a device for covering a swimming pool with a cover formed from mutually hinged profile strips and their winding angles next to the swimming pool enabling device.
This winding device can be arranged above the edge of the swimming pool or in a pit provided next to the swimming pool. In particular in the case of a winding device located above the swimming pool, the cover has to be raised more and more steeply from the water surface to the winding device, depending on the diameter of the wound cover.
Due to this inclined position of the cover, while the cover is being rolled up, all objects that have come onto the cover when the swimming pool is covered roll from the inclined area in front of the winding device and collect on the remaining part of the cover that is still lying horizontally. Before the cover is completely rolled up, the objects collected on its end area slide over the transverse edge of the cover and fall into the water of the swimming pool. The desired effect of the cover, namely keeping the swimming pool free of objects that can get into the swimming pool when it is not in use, cannot occur due to this disadvantage.
The invention is based on the object of improving the known devices for covering a swimming pool in such a way that, when the cover is rolled out, objects that have reached it are carried along by the cover when it is rolled up.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the free end of the cover has a web which is arranged parallel to the transverse edge and extends upwards from the cover. The objects moving towards the free end when the cover is being rolled up collect in front of the footbridge and are moved by this, together with the cover, out of the swimming pool and over its edge.
In order to prevent some of these objects from exceeding the upper edge of the web in the case of too large a collection of such objects in front of the web, in the case of larger objects, especially fallen leaves, another web is parallel to the cross web on the cover according to an advantageous embodiment of the invention arranged, which is at a distance from the transverse edge which corresponds approximately to a quarter of the circumference of the cover wound onto the winding device. In this way, the objects collected in front of the transverse webs are safely removed from the swimming pool and will fall down from the rolled-up cover on the side facing away from the swimming pool.
Further details of the invention emerge from the subclaims.
In the drawing, an above-ground installation is shown as an embodiment of the device according to the invention. Show it:
Fig. 1 shows a cross section through the winding device for the cover supporting end of a swimming pool and
2 is a perspective view of a web element applied to a profile strip.
The area of a swimming pool 1 protruding from the bottom is provided with edge cover plates 2 which protrude beyond the pool wall. The water surface 3 can be covered with a cover 4. A transverse edge of the swimming pool 1 carries a winding device 5 for the cover 4. In the embodiment selected, a motor-driven winding device is shown.
This comprises a winding shaft 6, which lies approximately above the swimming pool wall, and a motor drive 7.
One end of the cover 4 is firmly connected to the winding shaft 6, so that the cover 4 is wound onto the shaft 6 in a clockwise direction as it rotates. When the shaft 6 rotates in the opposite direction, the cover runs off the device and floats on the surface 3 of the water.
In the embodiment shown in the drawing, the cover is formed from profile strips 8 which are hinged to one another and which are buoyant through cavities. In the vicinity of the transverse edge of the free end 9 of the cover 4, the latter carries a transverse web 10. In front of this transverse web 10, all objects that have come into contact with the unrolled cover when the cover 4 is wound onto the winding device 5. The web is inclined towards the winding device 5 in order to promote the accumulation of the objects that have come onto this when the cover 4 is rolled out. At the upper edge, the web 10 has a flange 11 directed towards the winding device 5.
This flange prevents the objects collected in front of the web 10 from exceeding the free edge of the web and being safely moved away from the surface of the water when the cover 4 is moved upwards towards the winding device 5.
In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, a further web 12 is provided at a distance from the transverse edge of the free end 9 of the cover 4. This runs parallel to the web 10 and is at a distance from the transverse edge which corresponds to approximately a quarter of the circumference of the cover wound onto the winding device 5.
As a result of this arrangement, when the cover 4 is completely wound up, the web 11 exceeds its highest position, so that the objects collected in front of the web 10 can also fall off the cover by gravity.
In order to be able to subsequently provide each existing cover, which is formed from individual profile strips articulated to one another, with transverse webs, each web 10, 12 consists of individual prefabricated elements which are to be attached to the profile strips of the cover. Such an element is shown diagrammatically in FIG. 2 of the drawing. This element comprises a front side 13 forming the web, a plate 14 representing the flange and a fastening plate 15 lying parallel to plate 14 but extending in the opposite direction from front side 13 in order to hold the three areas of the element securely in place , a stiffening rib 16 is provided, the corresponding edges of which are firmly glued to the areas of the element.
In order to facilitate the application of a web to a profile strip 8, the individual web elements have a length that is only a fraction of the transverse extent of the cover 4.
In the web element shown in Fig. 2, only one Ver stiffening rib 16 is provided. However, it is possible for a plurality of such stiffening ribs to be provided with a greater length of the web element. In order to ensure the parallelism of the web to the profile strip 8, the web element has on the front edge of the fastening plate 15.
a stop 17 which engages over the front upper edge of the profile strip 8.
Since several web elements are joined together next to one another and in alignment with one another to form a web, each web element has devices which ensure the alignment of adjacent fastening plates 15 and adjacent plates 14 forming the flange. The fastening plate of a web element is provided with a recess 18 on the side shown on the right in FIG. 2 and with a nose 19 on the side shown on the left in FIG. 2. The dimensions of the recess and the nose are chosen so that the nose can easily be inserted the recess can be used.
The flange-forming plate 14 of each web element is provided at the ends with projections which are arranged in such a way that they prevent any back and forth movement of the ends of the plate when several web elements are joined together to form a web. The projection 20 at the end of the plate 14 shown on the right in FIG. 2 is, offset to the left, attached to the plate 14 and projects beyond its transverse edge. The projection 21 arranged at the left end of the plate 14 is offset to the right, attached to it and protrudes beyond the left transverse edge of the plate 14. The width of the projections 20 and 21 is chosen so that both projections together form a web width.
Only the webs applied to the cover 4 in the edge region of the free end ensure the effect that should be achieved with the cover.
The bars ensure that no objects can get into the pool when it is not in use.
In order to prevent water from being carried along by the webs 10, 12 when the cover is rolled up, a side edge of the front side 13 of each web element forming the web has a recess 22 which extends over almost the entire height of the web. When several bar elements are joined together, this recess creates a slot between two bar elements to allow the water to drain off.
