Abstract

The elastic web (14) has one end looped permanently around the dustbin handle (12) and the other end fitted with a hook (24) to engage with the other handle on the opposite side of the dustbin. A serpentine-shaped stainless steel spring wire (22) has the web passing through its loops (18) and serves to hold the double layer of web formed there, after the web has been looped around the handle. A similarly shaped wire (20) is fitted over the other end and has its outer end formed into a hook (24) aligned with the web longitudinal axis. The use of the web prevents the dustbin lid from being blown off or falling off, should the dustbin be tipped over.
