Fig. 2 einen Schnitt nach der Linie II-II in Fig. 1,
The present invention relates to a pipe connection for the tight connection of two pipe ends, with an elastic sealing sleeve that can be slipped onto the pipe ends and a tape covering the sealing sleeve with overlapping ends.
Pipe connections are known in various designs with which two adjacent cylindrical pipe ends are connected to one another in a drop-tight manner. They have an elastic sealing collar, for example made of rubber or plastic, which are pressed firmly onto the pipe ends by means of clamping clips. Instead of two narrow tension clamps, it is also known to use a single metal band which has a width corresponding to the width of the sealing sleeve and which is tensioned with several screws, usually two. Since the ends of the metal band are designed to accommodate the tensioning screws, a gap is created between the ends of the metal band, which is covered with a cloth of the same width as the metal band, which is either loosely inserted or welded to the inside of the metal band.
There is also known a pipe connection in which the ends of the metal strip overlap. To accommodate the clamping means, a profile is welded near the ends of the metal band on its outside, on which a clamping piece is hung. To tension the metal band, the clamping piece is permanently deformed using a special tool. The disadvantage of this design is that the tension cannot be increased at will, so that a perfect seal can only be achieved at low pressures. The welding of special clamping profiles is also complex.
The known pipe connections all have the common disadvantage that additional parts are necessary for the production of a complete strap, so that their production is relatively expensive.
The object of the present invention is to create a pipe connection which avoids the disadvantages of the existing pipe connections and can be produced with a minimum of work. This object is achieved according to the invention by a pipe connection of the type described at the outset, in which the band is provided with a slot arranged near its ends, extending over part of the width of the band transversely to the circumferential direction, the end edge of which has a slot the material of the tape is bent out retaining rim, on which a clamping element clinging to the tape can be suspended. This means that apart from the metal band, no additional part is required to hang the tensioning element, which also clings to the band in a space-saving manner.
The invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings and described below. It shows:
Fig. 1 A side view of a pipe connection with a first embodiment of the clamping element,
Fig. 2 is a section along the line II-II in Fig. 1,
3 shows a plan view of the pipe connection according to FIG. 1 with the clamping wedge installed,
4 shows a side view of a pipe connection with a second embodiment of the clamping element. and
FIG. 5 shows a plan view of the pipe connection according to FIG. 4 with a tensioned buckle.
In the figures, 1 denotes an elastic sealing collar which has a web 2 which serves as a stop for the pipe ends, not shown, which are coupled to the pipe connection.
Furthermore, the sealing sleeve 1 has flexible sealing lips 3, which expediently apply to the outer circumference of the pipe ends even when the sealing sleeve 1 is not tensioned and thus ensure a seal before the pipe connection is stretched, but due to their low dimensional resistance do not cause any hindrance when the sealing sleeve is slipped on.
A band 4, suitably made of metal, is placed around the sealing sleeve 1, the ends 5, 6 of which overlap. In the vicinity of its ends 5, 6, the band has slits 7, 8 running across part of the width of the band 4. The edge of the slots 7, 8 located on the side of the ends 5, 6 of the band 4 is bent out of the material of the band 4 and forms a retaining rim 9, 10. A tensioning element, which is shown in FIGS. 1-3, is suspended in the retaining ribs is designated as a whole with 11 and in FIGS. 4 and 5 with 12.
The clamping element 11 according to FIGS. 1-3 consists of a clamping wedge 13 with hook-shaped edges 14 which extend along the inclined sides of the clamping wedge 13. The holding rims bent out on the band 4 have the same inclination as the inclination of the tensioning wedge 13. Accordingly, the hook-shaped edges 14 of the tensioning wedge 13 can engage in the holding rims 9, 10 in a form-fitting manner. The belt 4 is tensioned by axially displacing the tensioning wedge 13 in the direction of the arrow 15. The tensioning wedge 13 can be displaced in various ways, for example with a striking tool.
The entire pipe connection according to FIGS. 1-3 thus consists of three parts, namely the sealing sleeve 1, the band 4 and the clamping wedge 13. The clamping wedge hugs the band 4, so it protrudes very little and requires little space .
In FIGS. 4 and 5, the tensioning element 12 is a tensioning buckle which is composed of a tensioning lever 16 and a tensioning bracket 17. The clamping bracket 17 is expediently formed from a wire, the ends of which are bent in a hook shape and can be inserted into bores 19 of the clamping lever 16. The pairs of bores arranged next to one another allow the tensioning distance of the tensioning buckle 12 to be adjusted.
To tension the band 4, the tensioning lever 16 is hung in the retaining shelf 9 and the tensioning bracket 17 is suspended in the retaining shelf 10 with the tensioning lever 16 protruding outward, and the tensioning lever 16 is brought into the tensioned position shown in FIG. 5, where it is in an over-center position and thus against opening is secured.
The holding buckle 12 also nestles against the band 4 in the tensioned position and likewise requires little space. The advantage is that the pipe connection can be clamped without special tools.
The tension band 4 has flanges 20 on both end faces, by means of which the sealing sleeve 1 is held in its position relative to the band 4. It is also possible, however, to omit the flanges on the end face and to connect the cuff to the band 4 in a suitable manner, for example by gluing or by vulcanization. In this case, too, the position of the sealing sleeve 1 relative to the band 4 is guaranteed.
The pipe connection described is composed of very few parts, allows a strong tensioning effect to be exerted on the sealing collar, requires little space and can be produced with little effort.
