The present invention relates to an indicator device comprising a rotating assembly comprising at least one movable element bearing signs and which is arranged to be driven in rotation about an axis parallel to the plane of a reading window during reading. 'actuation of the crew, which is characterized in that this element is constituted by a thin sheet in the general shape of a disc or a helix, on at least one face of which the signs are arranged.

The digital counter shown in fig. I to 5 is of the known type comprising an input shaft I carrying a pinion 2 meshing with a toothed ring 3 of the first drum 4 of a series of three coaxial drums 4, 5 and 6.
In known manner, the drum 4 drives at each revolution a pinion 7 which, in turn, rotates the following drum 5 by one step. Likewise, the drum 5 drives a pinion 8 at each turn, then rotating the last drum 6 by one step. This well known drive mechanism is shown in Figs.4 and 5.
The drums 4, 5 and 6 each carry a thin disc 9. 10 and 11. These discs are provided on a side face with a series of ten figures (fig. 6) which are made to scroll under prisms 12, 13 and 14 interposed between the discs. The prisms include reflective panels 12a, 13a and 14a, at 45O. and front tables 12b, 13b and 14b housed in a reading window 15 located in a plane parallel to the axis of rotation B-B of the discs. On these tables, the reflected images of the numbers appearing on the lateral faces of the discs appear (fig. 6).
The discs 9, 10 and 11 of the mobile assembly are pivoted on a longitudinal axis 17 established between the side walls 18 and 19 of a hollow housing 20 of rectangular section (FIG. 3).
The front end of this housing is closed by a cover 21 in which the reading window opens. Its rear end is closed by a cover 22 extending inside the case by a central boss 23 cut out by transverse slots 24 giving passage to the discs.
The boss 23 also serves as a support for the rear part of parallel guide bars 26, the front ends of which bear on the front cover 21 and which are interposed between the discs.
The thickness h of the housing 20 is smaller than the diameter D of the discs, and the latter, which are cut from a thin and flexible sheet of plastic, for example, are folded down laterally as shown in FIG. 3 in the spaces 27 and 28 between the walls 29 and 30 of the housing and the guide bars 26 constituting folding guides for the discs.
The known drive mechanism of the counter formed by the drums and the pinions can be very small, since only the movable discs 9, 10 and 11 of the indicating device must have a sufficient surface to carry the figures of the scales. These discs can be very light, so that, through the use of the indicating device described, the counter will have a much lower inertia than if the figures were reported directly on the cylindrical surface of much larger drums, as in the counters. of this type known.
The front surface of the counter is also reduced thanks to the fact that the discs are folded sideways. This reduction in the front surface makes it possible to place a greater number of counters on a given table surface.
Alternatively, the prisms can have reflective surfaces curved to transmit larger images, or corrected in one or two directions. They can also be replaced by mirrors.
In a variant illustrated in FIG. 7, the discs can also be arranged to allow direct reading through a window 31 placed in a plane parallel to their axis, guide means, not shown, ensuring the lateral folding under the reading window of a marginal part of the disc bearing the figures. Thus, in the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 3, reading windows could in particular be cut out in the wall 29 of the housing, facing the folded down parts of the discs.
In a prism or reading mirror variant, the disks can also be rigid. To reduce the size of several flat counters in a stack, it is then possible to interpose the discs of counters superimposed on one another.
The multi-turn indicator shown in fig. 8 comprises a shaft 4i rotating relative to a hollow frame 42.
In a cylindrical chamber 43 of the frame 42 is housed a movable element 44 consisting of a thin sheet in the general shape of a helix which is pierced with an axial opening giving passage to the shaft 41. This element 44 is driven in rotation with the 'shaft 41, by means of a key 45 integral with the shaft and which is housed in corresponding notches of the turns of the element 44.
The frame 42 is pierced with a reading window provided with a prism 48 divided into two parts by a slot 47 in which is housed a turn of the element 44.
The element 44 has on its faces two scales which are reflected by sides at 45 of the prism on the prism tables housed in the reading window.
As the relative rotation of the shaft and the frame progresses, the scales carried on the sides of the helix-shaped element 44 thus scroll under the prism and give in the reading window a precise indication of the angular position of the shaft. and this over several turns.
In a variant. The helix-shaped element 44 could be driven by means of a movement multiplier mechanism, to allow a more developed graduation.
An advantage of the disclosed indicating device is that the helix-shaped member 44 can be formed from thin foil, providing a large developed helix length in a small footprint. It is thus possible to provide a precise scale directly comprising the indications of the rotation carried out in digital form for several revolutions. The coaxial arrangement of the helical-shaped element and of the shaft is also favorable, since it allows the mechanism to be placed in a cylindrical volume of reduced diameter.
In a variant shown in FIG. 11, the reading window comprises four prisms 48 and the movable element is formed of two elements in the form of a helix 49 and 50 wound around a same core 51 and which are nested one inside the other. The reading window thus gives an image taken on the two faces of each of the two elements 49 and 50.
In the variant of FIG. 12, a helix-shaped element 52 is formed in a flexible sheet and one of its turns 53 passing through a guide slot 54 is folded down laterally under a reading window 55.
In the variant of FIG. 13, a helix-shaped element 56, which is also flexible, is made to pass through a reading guide 57 allowing direct reading, through a window.
Finally, in the embodiment of FIG. 14, a flexible element, in the form of a helix 58, is caused to pass from a core 59 to a core 60, or vice versa, by scrolling under a reading window 61.
In this case, the element 58 rotates in opposite directions on the two cores, so that only one of the two cores will be coupled to the helix or that the two cores will have to be coupled by means reversing their direction of rotation.
In variants, the device may include a light source arranged to ensure the illumination of the observed part of the mobile element.
