Sighting device for camera. Some sighting devices include a movable member, for example forming part of their optical system and are provided with a positive ull indicating the position of this member, either only outside the device or only inside, c 'That is to say that the indication is then visible only by looking through the device, the indication being superposed on the field of view or being located outside (the latter.
The exterior only indication has the advantage of being easily visible, and the key drawback is that it cannot be controlled by the eye looking through the viewfinder, which is when the indication is most useful. .
Indication only indoors has the advantage of being constantly under the control of the eye looking through the viewfinder and the disadvantage of forcing you to look through the viewfinder during manipulations for which the aiming. is not absolutely necessary, but during which the indication given by the internal device of the viewfinder must be read.
In order to benefit from the advantages of these two indication means, while eliminating their drawbacks, it is possible to use them simultaneously on the same viewing device. Two solutions are possible: to double the exterior indicator with an interior indicator while ensuring a foolproof connection between the two indicators, or to have a single indicator that can be observed both from the outside and from the inside of the device. aiming. The first of these solutions has the drawbacks of a complicated and delicate implementation and of a difference always possible between the two indications. The second solution provides the advantage of obvious simplicity coupled with flawless indication precision.
The invention relates to a viewing device for a camera, consisting of a tubular body provided at one of its ends with an eyepiece. This device eomporte in its wall a window opposite which moves at least one member bearing signs giving an indication in relation to the shooting operation, the part of this member bearing the signs allowing light rays to pass and the other being opaque, a reflecting surface being arranged inside the body facing the window, so as to return the image of the signs passing in front of it, to the eyepiece of the device and. to make them appear to the observer outside the field of view.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention, as well as several variants.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the device.
Fig. ? is a plan view. Fig. 3 is a detail view.
Figs. 4 to 11 show variants of execution.
With reference to fig. 1 to 3 of the drawing, the key device referred to comprises a tubular body 1 provided at its front end with a lens 2 and at its rear end with an eye 3. Between these parts is a movable lens 4, the displacement of which in the axis of the chamber produces a variation in the field of view of the apparatus. This movable lens 4 is integral with a rack 5 sliding in a guide, not shown, of the tube. An axis 6 integral with the tube 1. carries a toothed wheel 7 which, on the one hand, meshes with the 1st rack 5 and, on the other hand, carries a disc 8 forming a body therewith.
This disc 8 is provided with roughness at its periphery and protrudes from the tube 1 by 9, so that it can be actuated by the fingers of an operator. A rotation of the disc 8 causes, via the wheel 7 and the rack 5, a corresponding displacement of the movable lens 4. This same disc 8 leaves its upper face with digits 10 visible in transparency from its. lower face and which correspond to determined positions of the movable lens 4 when they are brought successively in front of a window 11 open in the. upper wall of tube 1. The upper face 12 of the disc 8 is light in color, so that the numbers 10 are seen through the window 11, therefore from the outside of the viewfinder, in black line on a light background. the little light illuminating the numbers 10 of of tube 1.
On the other hand, the figures 10 are visible through the locular 3, therefore inside the viewfinder, on a mirror 13 fixed on the lower wall of the tube 1; the lower surface 14 of the disc 8 being black and the figures 10 being illuminated by the window 11, the mirror 13 gives an image of the figures 10 in luminous lines on a black background, as shown in FIG. 3, this image being located below the field of view 15.
Thus, the sighting device provides the same indication outside and inside. In the exemplary embodiment described above, the figure 10 which is visible, either in window 11 or on mirror 13, indicates the focal length of the lens, the field of which is identical to that of the viewfinder thus adjusted. .
Figs. 4 to 9 show, on a larger scale, details for the production of the organ bearing the signs which must be visible from the outside and from the inside of the device.
Fig. 4 represents the disc 8 made of transparent material and covered on one of its faces with a black screen 17 itself covered with a light-colored screen 16. These two screens are formed by painting layers. The numbers 10 are engraved throughout the thickness of the paint, so that at the bottom of the engraved line the transparent body of the disc is exposed.
Fig. 5 shows a disc 8 in molded transparent material, having on one of its faces figures 10 in relief. This same face is covered with a black screen 17 which is itself covered with a screen 16 of light color. These two screens are made up of layers of paint. The top of the relief of the numbers 10 remains free of paint, so that only the numbers 10 are transparent.
Fig. 6 shows a disc 8 in opaque molded material with numbers 10 formed by recesses throughout its thickness. The upper surface 12 should be light in color and will preferably be the actual surface of the molded material. The lower face 14 is black.
Fig. 7 shows a disc 8 made of opaque material and covered with a thin sheet 18 also opaque. The digits 10 are cut from the sheet 18, while the dis 8 is provided with openings 19 located under each of the digits 10. The upper face 12 should be (the light color and will preferably be the same surface as the top). sheet 18. The underside 1-1 is black.
Fig. 8 represents a disc S made of transparent material and covered with a thin opaque sheet 18. The numbers 10 are cut from the sheet 18. The upper face 1.? should be light in color and. will preferably be there. the actual surface of the sheet 18. The underside 20 of the. sheet 18 is black.
In the cases of fig. 6, 7 and 8. the numbers formed by a closed line on itself can not be joined with a continuous line. Fig. 9) shows how these figures are provided with bridges 21 to maintain their central part.
In the example of fig. 1 to 3, the disc bearing the signs is integral with a control pinion of the rack 5.
Fig. 10 shows a variant in which the disc 8 comprises peripheral teeth 22 in engagement with the rack 5.
In the variant shown in FIG. 11, the signs are not placed on a disc, but on a plate 23 integral with the mesh 5 which is driven by a control pinion 7 projecting at 9 from the tube 1.
The mirror 13 can occupy different positions depending on the construction of the device and, therefore, the sign seen inside the viewfinder can be found in any position around the field of view 15. The mirror 13 can be replaced by a prism. total reflection.
The application of the principle of reading the same indication on the outside and inside of a sighting device is not limited to the case described above, but extends to all the indications that may be visible , dlants the interest of the operator, both outside and inside the viewfinder.
A device of this kind can be applied both to a cinematographic camera and to a graphic photo camera, and it can include, for example, indications concerning the focus, the aperture and the focal length of the objectives of the camera. , the adjustment (the parallax of the viewfinder, sort length of film, the number of indexes or any other indications. It is obvious that the same viewfinder can comprise only one or several simultaneous indications.
