Abstract

Spherical particles of a fire-resistant material are made from an aq. starting soln. contg. (a) a water soluble metal cpd., (b) a water soluble, monohydric, polyhydric or ether group contg. alcohol in an amt. of >=5 vol. % and (c) a water-soluble, alkali-gellable cellulose deriv., adding the soln. dropwise to an aq. alkaline soln. and drying and heating the resulting particles.
