Abstract

565,200. Incandescent gas fires. BLAIR, J. M. June 29, 1943, No. 10546. [Class 126] [Also in Group V] Tubular radiants for gas fires are formed by extrusion from plastic refractory material with one or more longitudinal fins 1, 1a, some or all of the latter having, while the radiant is still plastic and before being dried and fired, their edges shaped by dies or by hand to a serrated, waved, stepped or similar form. The radiants are supported by rods 2 which are movably mounted in a gas fire either horizontally, Figs. 6, 7, or vertically, Figs. 10, 12, in order that the position of the fins may be adjusted in relation to the burners 3. The radiants may be disposed in front of or behind the burners, there being provided, in the former case, a reflector or refractory backing 4, 5, Figs. 6, 12.
