Fluid pressure regulator The main patent relates to a fluid pressure regulator, that is to say comprising a measuring chamber communicating with the fluid circuit and comprising a manometric member which measures the pressure. pressure in the circuit, and a regulation chamber, connected to a pressure-lifting device and comprising an orifice for admitting the fluid to the measuring chamber,
a low pressure discharge orifice to a reservoir and means actuated by the manometric member to close the discharge orifice when the pressure in the reservoir is less than a minimum value and open this orifice when the pressure in the reservoir is greater at a maximum value,
the inlet and the discharge orifice being arranged opposite one another and the regulating chamber comprising a two-position shutter connected directly to the pressure gauge and selectively closing the orifice inlet or the outlet orifice depending on whether the pressure in the fluid circuit reaches the maximum value or the minimum value.
This regulator used for example in a circuit which includes a compressed air tank supplied by a compressor, gives full satisfaction for the current pressures, but it is not quite the same when the maximum pressure of the tank is very high. , of the order of 14 bars, for example. In fact, as stated in the main patent, when the maximum pressure has been reached in the reservoir, the shutter closes the inlet opening to the measuring chamber and at the same time opens the orifice of the measuring chamber. evacuation to the atmosphere. During this movement of the shutter, there is communication between the measuring chamber and the atmosphere.
When the maximum pressure is very high, this communication causes the air to flow back from the reservoir to the regulation chamber, which risks preventing the closure, by the shutter, of the inlet port to the control chamber. measured. On the other hand, according to the main patent, the manometric member comprises a bellows diaphragm subjected, on one side, to the air pressure of the reservoir and, on the other side, to the pressure of a gas filling the interior of the membrane. This therefore constitutes a sealed closed enclosure, filled with gas at a reference pressure Po.
The operation of this structure presents no difficulty when the ambient temperature is normal. On the other hand, if it reaches extreme values (for example -40 C or -1-120 C), the pressure of the gas contained in the membrane, which is the reference pressure Po, varies correlatively. This causes a modification of the maximum pressure P and minimum p, as results from the formulas cited in the main patent.
In addition, the regulator comprises a reaction chamber into which the outlet of the regulating chamber opens. This chamber is constituted by a cylinder in which moves a piston connected to the shutter, this piston being arranged to close the slots formed in the cylinder and communicating with the atmosphere sphere and to release these slots after the shutter has open the discharge port.
This device has the drawback of being relatively expensive to produce. In addition, the slots can be blocked by foreign bodies coming from the tank, such as dust or oil droplets.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks.
The regulator according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises an elastic retaining valve, fixed, inside the measuring chamber, on the part connecting the shutter to the manometric member, this valve being applicable, by elastic deformation against the periphery of the inlet opening to the measuring chamber, in the two closed positions of the shutter. This elastic valve, applied to the periphery of the inlet orifice as soon as the pressure in the regulation chamber becomes lower than that of the measurement chamber, can oppose any backflow of air from the tank to the regulation chamber. When the reservoir is supplied by the compressor, it can be pushed back in the opposite direction by the overpressure of the air and do not oppose any obstacle.
On the other hand, the diaphragm of the manometric member may comprise a bottom plate slidably mounted in the measuring chamber and the regulator may include means for controlling the sliding of the bottom plate.
By controlling this sliding, the internal volume of the membrane is varied in the desired direction, which makes it possible to re-establish the reference pressure Po, even when the ambient temperature reaches extreme values.
The reaction chamber may comprise a cylinder into which opens the discharge orifice of the regulating chamber and having an orifice for communication with the atmosphere arranged opposite this discharge orifice, and an integral piston of the shutter and movable in this cylinder, the piston being arranged to shut off the vent orifice and to release this orifice only when the shutter is moved a certain distance from the orifice of evacuation of the regulation chamber.
In the appended drawing, given by way of example, an embodiment and variants of the regulator, subject of the invention, have been presented.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view of a regulator, showing it in the position corresponding to the filling of the reservoir.
Fig. 2 is a view in partial axial section, showing the regulator of FIG. 1 in the compressor vent position.
Fig. 3 is a view in partial axial section, of a variant comprising a bottom plate for the membrane.
Fig. 4 is a partial view in axial section showing another variant.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken along the line V-V of FIG. 4.
These figures show with the same references the same elements as those described in the main patent.
In fig. 1 and 2, an axial rod 39 has, on the outside of the membrane 14, an annular groove 61, a shoulder 62 and an end thread 63. The shutter 44 is applied against the shoulder 62 by the piston 53, screwed on the thread 63. On the rod 39 are threaded a ring 64 located between the stopper 32 and the groove 61 and a ring 65 between this groove and the shutter 44. In the groove 61 takes place, between the rings 64 and 65 , a bare check valve 66, made of elastic material such as rubber. The groove 61 is disposed on the rod 39 so that the pet valve 66 is applicable, by elastic deformation, against the periphery of the inlet orifice 22, in the two positions of the closure of the shutter 44.
The operation is as follows.
When the maximum pressure P has been reached in the reservoir, the shutter 44, controlled by the membrane 14, opens the discharge orifice 23 of the regulation chamber 18. The pressure, in this chamber 18, becomes less than that of the measuring chamber 9, the elastic valve 66 is immediately applied against the periphery of the orifice 22 which it obstructs until this orifice is closed by the shutter 44 (FIG. 2). The valve 66 therefore prevents any return of air from the reservoir to the regulation chamber 18, during the stroke of the shutter 44.
In the phase of supply to the reservoir by the compressor, the valve 66, due to its elasticity, is moved away, by the overpressure of the air, from the periphery of the port 22 and does not present any obstacle (fig. 1).
The bottom plate 15 of the diaphragm 14 is slidably mounted in the bottom of the measuring chamber 9, with an O-ring seal 35. The cover 36 of the body 34 of the regulator carries a bolt 71. A coil spring 72 is interposed. between the plate 15 and a cup 73, in which the end of the bolt 71 fits.
The operation is as follows: When the ambient temperature is very low, the pressure of the gas contained in the membrane 14 decreases and the thrust exerted by the spring 72 on the plate 15 causes the latter to slide towards the orifice 22. The internal volume of the membrane 14 therefore then decreases, which increases the pressure of the gas it contains. If, on the contrary, the ambient temperature is very high, the corresponding increase in the pressure inside the membrane 14 causes the plate 15 to slide towards the cover 36, which increases the internal volume of the membrane 14 and reduces the pressure of the gas it contains, the sliding of the plate 15 being limited by the antagonistic action of the spring 72.
The bolt 71 adjusts the initial compression of the spring 72.
By a judicious choice of the dimensions, the force and the initial compression of the spring 72, it is thus possible to keep the reference pressure Po practically constant.
According to a variant shown in FIG. 3, the key cover 36 comprises an adjustable stop, constituted by a threaded rod 81 with a split head. A cup 82 is interposed between the plate 15 and the rod 81. The latter is locked in position by a cap 83, with internal thread, connected to the cover 36 by a retaining chain 84.
With this device, it is by screwing or unscrewing the rod 81 in the cover 36 that one obtains the maintenance of the reference pressure Po, inside the membrane 14, when the ambient temperature reaches extreme values. .
According to a variant shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the reaction chamber comprises a cylinder 101 into which the discharge port 23 of the regulation chamber opens out. Opposite the orifice 23, the cylinder 101 has an orifice 102 which is placed in communication with the atmosphere.
In the cylinder 101 moves a piston 103 which is threaded on the actuating rod 39 of the membrane 14 and held blocked against the shutter 44 of the regulation chamber by means of a nut 104. The piston 103 carries four ribs 105 guide which rest on the internal wall of the cylinder 101.
The length of the piston 103 is chosen such that when the shutter 44 closes the orifice 23, the free end of the piston 103 penetrates into the orifice 102 for putting into the atmosphere and closes the latter. This is the position which corresponds to the filling of the reservoir by the compressor.
When the pressure in the reservoir reaches the upper limit provided, the membrane 14 contracts and detaches the shutter 44 from the seat 23. At the start of this movement, the free end of the piston 103 still closes the orifice 102. The reaction chamber formed by the interior of the cylinder 101 is thus brought to the pressure of the reservoir. The two faces of the shutter 44 being subjected to the same pressure, no force of pneumatic origin is no longer applied to this shutter so that the membrane 14 abruptly applies the shutter 44 against the opposite seat 22. The air contained in the regulation chamber 18 and in the pipe connecting the regulator to the compressor expands suddenly and escapes through the orifice 102 which is then released by the piston 103.
This embodiment is simpler and therefore less expensive than that shown in FIG. 1. In addition, the large-section orifice 102 and the smooth surfaces of the piston 103 and the cylinder 101 are easily cleaned of dust, oil drops, etc., coming from the compressor by the sudden expansion of air.
As a variant, the groove 61 could be replaced by a shoulder corresponding to a reduction in diameter of the rod 39, the valve 66 being held against this shoulder and against the ring 64 by the ring 65.
The bolt 71 and the rod 81 could be replaced by a threaded rod, in position controlled by an adjusting handwheel, provided with a locking locknut.
