Method of Making Water Soluble Dye Fixers This invention relates to a method of making water soluble dye fixers from 1,3,5-triacryl-oyl-hexahydro-s-triazine.
After a method known from Swiss Patent 389 568, you can textile mate rial, z. B. cotton fabric, with dyes containing conversion fäbige hydrogen atoms, washfast dye or print if the treatment is carried out in the presence of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexyhydro-s-triazine and alkaline agents. A coloration of 1 / s to 1/1 standard depth is achieved with 10 to 18 grams of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine per liter of liquor, depending on the type of dye and the coloring conditions.
Since the solubility of said dye fixer in water is in the same range, depending on the crystal structure and the purity of the 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexyhydro-s-triazine, it is 12 to 20 grams / liter, the preparation of corresponding dye baths can be carried out To cause difficulties. Precipitations can also occur in the dye liquor, which give rise to malfunctions in dyeing, since the dyebaths usually contain substances that reduce solubility, such as inorganic salts added to the dyes as thickening agents.
Due to the limited water solubility of the dye stoffixierers, it is also not possible to produce the concentrated stock solutions that are often desired for efficient work in practice.
Is used instead of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexa- hydro-s-triazine water-soluble derivatives of this connec tion, z. B. the products known from Belgian patent specification No. 631928, obtainable by reacting one mole of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine with 2.2 moles of ethanolamine or the sulfuric acid ester of ethanolamine, occur the difficulties mentioned do not arise, but dyeings and prints are not so strong in color.
It has now been found that you can easily water-soluble dye fixer with a high fixing effect, if you 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine in a solvent or diluent at temperatures between 50 and 100 C with, based on 1 mole of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine, 1 / 1s to 2 / a gram equivalent of alkaline agents.
As alkaline agents come z. B. Am monia, or ammonia releasing agents, such as urotropine or ammonium carbonate, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, sodium sulfide or tertiary amines, such as trimethylamine or triethanolamine.
According to the new process, the 1,3,5-triacryl-oyl-hexahydro-s-triazine is treated in a solvent or diluent at temperatures between 50 and 100 ° C., preferably 70 to 95 ° C., with the alkali agents mentioned . For 1 mole of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine, 1 / 1s to 2 / s gram equivalent, preferably 1 / a to 1 / s gram equivalent, of the above-mentioned alkaline agents.
In addition to water, suitable solvents or diluents are, for example, ethylene chloride, chloroform and other chlorinated hydrocarbons, and also gasoline, aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene and toluene. The reaction is complete after a maximum of 2 to 3 hours. At a reaction temperature of 90 C it is closed after about 5 to 30 minutes. The solutions or suspensions obtainable in this way, especially the aqueous solutions, can be used directly for the production of dye baths or printing pastes without isolating the reaction products. You can also use the new dye fixer by removing the solvent, e.g. B. isolate by drying in vacuo.
The dye fixers obtainable by the new process are characterized by a very good fixing effect when dyeing or printing textile material with dyes that contain reactive hydrogen atoms.
Due to their good water solubility, which is 80 to 100 grams / liter at 25 C, they dissolve without difficulty in all dyebaths and dyestuffs in the concentration required to achieve colorfast dyeings and are also suitable for making concentrated stock solutions.
The parts and percentages given in the examples are units of weight. Parts of space relate to parts by weight like the liter to the kilogram. Example 1 80 parts of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine together with 1 part of ammonia (255%) and 919 parts of water are heated to 90 ° C. in the course of 5 to 10 minutes and the mixture is cooled Mixture to room temperature.
A clear solution is obtained which does not change even after 1 to 2 days and is ideally suited for the manufacture of dye liquors. Similar results are obtained if, instead of 1 part of ammonia (25%), to 10 parts of ammonia (25%), or 1 to 10 parts of a 40% aqueous solution of trimethylamine are used.
With a dye liquor containing 125 parts of one of the solutions obtainable according to this example per 1000 parts by volume, 10 parts of the dye of the formula
EMI0002.0009
Cotton fabric is impregnated with 10 parts of sodium carbonate and 50 parts of urea. The impregnated fabric is squeezed up to 80% liquor uptake, dried at 100 ° C. and steamed at 100 ° C. for 4 minutes. After rinsing and soaping, a strong yellow color is obtained.
Difficulties in all dyebaths and dyestuffs Example 2 A mixture of 80 parts of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine, 0.5 part of 38 Bé sodium hydroxide and 919.5 parts is heated Water 5 to 10 minutes at 90 C and cool it down to room temperature. The solution has a pH of 8 to 8.5 after the treatment. A clear solution is obtained which is stable even after 1 to 2 days.
31.25 parts of this solution are poured into an aqueous solution containing 25 parts of the copper phthalocyanine dye of the formula (HO3S) 2 - CuPc - (SO2-NH2-C2H4-OH) 2, 20 parts of sodium carbonate and 50 parts of urea and supplemented with water to 1000 parts by volume, a residue-free dyebath is obtained with which a dye is obtained on cotton fabric which, when using the appropriate amount of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine as a dye fixer, is obtainable through greater color strength and better levelness.
Example 3 0 80 parts of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine are heated together with 8 parts of an 80% strength aqueous solution of thioglycolic acid and 25 parts of a 400/0 strength aqueous solution of trimethylamine and 887 parts of water to 90 ° C. The mixture is allowed to cool and a clear solution is obtained which is still stable after 1 to 2 days.
If 125 parts of this solution are poured into a dye solution so that the recipe mentioned in Example 1 is established, and if cotton fabric is dyed with this liquor, strong dyeings are obtained.
A similarly good result is obtained when 80 parts of 1,3,5-triacryloyl-hexahydro-s-triazine under the above-mentioned conditions with a solution consisting of 1 part of thiourea, 0.2 parts of sodium hydroxide and in the preparation of the dye fixer 918.2 parts of water or 1 part of 60% sodium sulfide and 919 parts of water. Example 4 100 to 120 parts of 1,3,5-triacryloylhexahydro-s-triazine are heated together with 5 parts of urotropine or 5 parts of ammonium carbonate in 800 to 900 parts of water to 80 to 90 ° C. for so long until the solution is clear. The mixture is then cooled as quickly as possible to below 50 ° C. and a solution of 100 to 200 parts of urea in water is added.
It is filtered and a stable clear solution is obtained. B. suitable for dyeing and printing with the dyes mentioned in Examples 1 and 2.
