a Freon (geschützte Marke) verdünnt.

Method for holding and releasing the individual printing types of a printing set and means for carrying out this method
The invention relates to a method for holding and releasing the individual printing types of a printing set and a means for carrying out this method.
According to the usual method, the individual printing types of a composite printing set are held together by a supple, soft iron band that is placed around the mostly square printing set.
So that all types of printing remain as immovable as possible when the printing machine is working, the iron band is tightened with a tightening screw so that the individual types of printing are pressed against one another on their side surfaces, whereby the mutual static friction is increased.
As soon as the printing press starts to work, however, the individual printing types are slowly loosened by the blows of the machine, even when the iron belt is tightly tensioned, and individual printing types gradually rise from the printing set, so that so-called a spit)) form, which causes rejects. In order to keep this as small as possible, one or two machine masters always monitor the printing process and switch the machine off immediately as soon as spits appear. These are pushed back into the print set. The printing machine can then be put back into operation.
Such interruptions can be repeated several times during a printing job, resulting in considerable losses in terms of goods and working time.
The present invention is intended to prevent this spit formation.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that a diluted adhesive liquid is applied to the printing types of the printing set from above before printing on the typeface side, so that this liquid reaches the side surface of the printing types, thickens as a result of evaporation and the printing types are immovable with strong adhesive force holds together, and that after the printing process, the printing set is placed in warm water, the adhesive dissolving and being washable, so that the individual types of printing are ready for further use after drying.
The means for carrying out this process is characterized in that sulphite waste liquor is diluted with a low-boiling aliphatic chlorofluorocarbon, that this solution dries in the air, whereby the remaining substance has a strong adhesive force, and that this substance is easily soluble in water and washable.
An example method of the invention is described below. Sulphite waste liquor with a viscosity e.g. from 32 to 36 degrees Be is mixed with a low-boiling aliphatic chlorofluorocarbon, e.g.
a Freon (protected trademark) diluted.
By means of a brush or a spray device, this liquid is applied to the printing types of the printing set from above before printing on the typeface, so that the liquid reaches the side surfaces of the printing types. As a result of evaporation, the liquid thickens after approx. 15 minutes and holds the types of print together immovably with strong adhesive force, so that no more skewers can form.
After the printing process, the adhesive set is placed in warm water, the adhesive dissolving. It is then washed off, dried and the printing types are kept ready for further use.
The adhesive and the substances used to manufacture it are non-toxic, explosion-proof and non-flammable.
The odor from the adhesive can be removed by a deodorant.
Compared to the value saved due to the avoidance of rejects and the saved wages and machine costs, the effort involved in using the adhesive according to the invention is extremely small.
