Saures Reinigungsmittel
Andere bevorzugte Klassen anionischer oberflächenaktiver Mittel schliessen z. B.

Acid detergent
The present invention relates to an acidic cleaning agent which is suitable for use in cleaning and protecting metal surfaces.
It is known that dull oxide films can be removed from copper surfaces by treating the surfaces with aqueous solutions containing weak or strong acids.
It is also known that copper complexing agents, such as benzotriazole or its derivatives, especially in the form of their aqueous solutions, can be used to treat copper and copper alloy surfaces in order to inhibit subsequent corrosion or fogging of the treated surface.
Since it has long been the custom to carry out cleaning of copper objects and imparting opacity resistance in separate stages, a single composition capable of performing these two operations in a single stage has been sought for several years.
However, when benzotriazole or one of its copper protecting derivatives is incorporated into a conventional acidic copper cleaning agent, the antioxidant properties of the acidic cleaning agent are lost, presumably because the benzotriazole and its copper protecting derivatives form a protective layer on the oxide film; as a result, the removal of the dull oxide film is inhibited.
Surprisingly, however, it has now been found that the application of a composition containing acid, benzotriazole and thiourea to a copper or copper alloy surface quickly removes dull oxide films from the surface and also gives the surface a permanent, corrosion-resistant finish.
The cleaning agent according to the invention is accordingly characterized in that it contains an acidic material with a pK value not higher than 5.0, thiourea and benzotriazole or a copper-protecting benzotriazole derivative.
Examples of acidic materials with pK values not higher than 5.0 suitable for use in the compositions of the present invention include hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, amidosulfuric acid, citric acid, tartaric acid, acetic acid and certain polyamino-polycarboxylic acids, e.g. B. Sithylenediamine-tetraacetic acid and hydroxyethyl-ethylenediamine-triacetic acid.
The level of acidic materials in the composition of the present invention can be up to 85% by weight, or indeed even higher; however, for most purposes an acidic material content in the range of 55 to 80 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition is preferred.
The proportion of thiourea in the composition of the present invention can e.g. B. in the range from 0.1% to 30% by weight; more preferably, however, a proportion in the range from 5 o / o to 25% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, is used.
As previously mentioned, the benzotriazole component can be benzotriazole itself or one of its copper protecting derivatives. Suitable copper-protecting derivatives of benzotriazole include, for. B. the 5-alkyl derivatives of benzotriazole disclosed in British Patent No. 1065 995; the 5-alkanoylamino derivatives of benzotriazole described in British Patent No. 1069 392; and bis-benzotriazoles.
The benzotriazole or one of its copper-protecting derivatives can, for. B. used in a proportion in the range from 0.1 O / o to 20% by weight, more preferably in a proportion in the range from 1 O / o to 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition will.
In addition to the three essential components described above, the composition of the present invention advantageously contains a surface-active agent. Although the surfactant may, if desired, be a nonionic surfactant such as polyalkylene glycol derivatives or long chain fatty amines, or a cationic surfactant, e.g. For example, an alkyl pyridinium halide such as cetyl pyridinium broinide, it is particularly preferred to use an anionic surfactant. Examples of preferred anionic surfactants include compounds of the formula:
ROSO3M where R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group and M is an alkali metal or an ammonium radical.
The compound of formula I can, for. B. sodium myristyl sulfate, sodium hexadecyl sulfate, potassium stearyl sulfate, ammonium oleyl sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, potassium lauryl sulfate, ammonium or sodium stearyl sulfate and sodium oleyl sulfate. Other preferred classes of anionic surfactants include e.g. B.
Alkali metal alkylbenzenesulfonates such as sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate and sodium dodecylnaphthalene sulfonate; and alkali metal salts of secondary alkyl sulfates such as the sodium and potassium salts of 2-ethylhexyl sulfate.
The surface-active agent is preferably present in the cleaning agent according to the invention in a proportion of up to 40% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition. More preferably, however, the surfactant is present in an amount in the range from 0.1% to 10% by weight based on the total weight of the composition.
The composition of the agent of the invention, which acts as a combined chemical de-fogging and anti-fogging composition for copper, can be applied to the copper surface to be treated by any of a variety of methods.
In particular, an inert carrier is used, such as any solvent which is inert for the mixture of acidic material, thiourea and the benzotriazole compound, but preferably water or an essentially aqueous solvent mixture.
The copper or copper alloy surface to be cleaned and protected can e.g. B. immersed in the composition containing the inert carrier, acidic material, thiourea and benzotriazole compound. When using this method, the proportion of the mixture of acidic material, thiourea and the benzotriazole compound in the carrier, which is preferably water, is advantageously in the range from 1 / o to 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the carrier.
Alternatively, a dry, highly wet-strength paper can be impregnated with the mixture of acidic material, thiourea and benzotriazole compound, which can then be used to clean the copper surface after being moistened with a solvent, especially water.
As a further alternative, the mixture of acidic material, thiourea and the benzotriazole compound can be formulated as a paste in a solvent such as water or in another solvent which is practically non-volatile at normal temperature.
Such pastes can be removed after application to the treated surface, which is usually done by rubbing with a pad, e.g. By washing the paste off the copper object with water. In those cases where you want to achieve a certain polishing effect on the treated object as well as remove the fogging from it, low concentrations, e.g. B. up to 5% by weight of a mild abrasive, e.g. B. Diatomaceous earth with a particle size of 0.044 mm clear mesh size (323 mesh) or silicon dioxide can be incorporated into the mixture before or after the latter has been prepared into a paste. Such paste compositions also preferably contain a plasticizer, e.g. B. ethylene glycol.
In the following examples, the parts and percentages used represent parts by weight and percentages by weight, respectively, unless otherwise specified.
