Timepiece fitted with a waterproof control unit
Water-resistant chronograph pushers have already been produced. In some of these, a sealing package is used, arranged for example between the pendant and the stem holder integral with the crown. This package has the drawback of slowing down the movement of the pusher. In addition, the back and forth movements against the package over time cause progressive penetration of moisture.
In other devices, a deformable waterproof membrane is placed between a protuberance at the bottom of the crown and the stem. This embodiment has two drawbacks: on the one hand the membrane is not very resistant and on the other hand the mechanism is triggered by diving under the pressure of the water.
The present invention aims precisely to remedy these drawbacks and relates to a timepiece provided with a sealed control member comprising a head that can be actuated by hand, an intermediate rotating part cooperating with sealing means and a rod capable of to move axially in order to control the mechanism of the timepiece, characterized by means for driving the intermediate piece in rotation, so as not to subject the sealing means to axial stress, and by means transforming the rotary movement of the intermediate piece into axial movement of the rod.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, some embodiments of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is an exploded view of the elements forming a control member whose head is axially movable.
Figs. 2 and 3 are two embodiments of a control member, the head of which is constituted by a ring movable in rotation.
Fig. 4 is a section along IV-IV of FIG. 2.
The control member shown in FIG. 1 comprises a head constituted by an outer sleeve I having a recess in which the balls 2 are held by means of the locking ring 6.
The bottom of the socket is provided with a spherical recess i b. When the control member is actuated, the elements 1 and 6 undergo an axial displacement in the direction of the arrow F1 while the balls 2 move in the direction of the arrow F2 for reasons which will be explained later.
In the recess lb engages a ball 3a partially embedded in a support 3b on the lower part 3c of which is clamped the first turn of a helical coil spring 3d. The other end of this spring cooperates with the bottom 4a of an opening made in the upper part of the part 4, the lower part of which has a threaded opening 4b; The usefulness of this opening will be mentioned later. The part 4 has oblique grooves 4c on the outside in number corresponding to the balls 2 and at its upper part an annular groove 4d in which a clip is engaged to prevent the balls from escaping. When the control member is actuated, all of these elements 4 are moved in rotation as indicated by arrow F4.
The tubular part 5 is fixed and is integral with the watch case. It has oblique slots 5a in which the balls 2 move, between the sleeve I and the part 4.
The part 6 already mentioned is the locking ring making it possible to hold the elements described in the sleeve 1. Since it is integral with this sleeve, it undergoes an axial displacement in the direction of the arrow F6.
The intermediate part 7 has at its upper part a threaded element 7a which is screwed into the opening 4b and makes this part integral with the part 4, so that it is also driven in rotation, as indicated by the arrow. F7. In its middle part, it has for example two annular grooves in which are arranged the seals 7b which are pressed on the other hand in the opening 5b. The base 7c is provided at its lower part with a cam 7d.
This cam 7d cooperates with a corresponding cam 8a of a part provided on the other hand with an opening 8b at its lower part in which engages a fixed stud 9a so that the part 8 undergoes an axial displacement in the direction of arrow F8. At its lower part, part 8 is provided with a push rod 8c actuating the mechanism of the timepiece.
The stud 9a is integral with a fixed part 9 separated from the part 8 by a spring 9b and has a circular opening 9c for the passage of the rod 8c.
Thus, when the sleeve 1 is axially actuated, the balls 2 engage between this sleeve and the part 4 in the slots Sa, subject the intermediate part 7 to a rotary movement which is transformed back into axial movement by the cams. 7d and 8a. The sleeve once released returns to its initial position under the action of the return spring 3d.
To ensure regular movement of the various elements, use will advantageously be made of three balls 2.
Another construction is shown in Figs. 2 to 4.
In this control member, the head is a ring 10 movable in rotation and the bottom of which has a rod holder sleeve 11. The rod 12 which is screwed therein drives a rotary cam 13 cooperating with an axial cam 14 integral with the rod. pusher 15, the axial movement of which is guided by a stud 16 integral with a fixed part, separated from the cam 14 by a helical spring 17, and engaging in an opening 18 of the cam 14.
The upper part 19 of the pendant 20 extends around the rod holder sleeve 1 1 to the bottom of the crown and has an axial slot 21 (Fig. 4) in which the angled end of a spring engages. spiral 22, the other end of which cooperates with a corresponding axial groove 23 made in the internal part of the edge of the crown 10.
In the example shown in FIG. 2, the seal is obtained by means of two annular seals 24 and 25 arranged respectively in a groove of the rod 12 and in a groove formed in the rim 26 of the pendant.
In the example of FIG. 3, the seal is provided on the one hand by two seals 27 and 28 arranged between the rod 12 and the pendant 20 and on the other hand by a groove 29 held on a corresponding shoulder of the rim 26 of the pendant by means of a tension ring 30.
As a variant, other devices could be provided allowing the transformation on the one hand of the axial movement into rotary movement, when the head is actuated axially, and on the other hand of the rotary movement into axial movement, the seals still being arranged on the part moving in rotation.
