Device for automatically hooking and unhooking an object
in an inaccessible place, especially at the end of a boat mast
The present invention relates to a device for automatically hooking and unhooking an object in a place that is difficult to access, in particular at the end of a boat mast, characterized in that it comprises a sliding and rotating cylindrical slide. in a cylindrical casing bearing on its inner wall at least one stop, said slide comprising a succession of oblique ramps cooperating with said stop and oriented alternately in one direction then in the other, such that in a first reciprocating movement of the slide, this hooks onto the stopper and unhooks in a second reciprocating movement.
The accompanying drawing represents. for exemple. one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. I represents a developed view of the bucket coulis
fig. 2 shows an axial section.
The device comprises a tube 1 carrying two diametrically opposed stops 2 and 3 and cooperating with a slider 4 fixed to a cable 5 supporting, below the slider, for example the mainsail of a boat at the end of the mast.
The slide comprises two systems of identical ramps and grooves collaborating alternately with each of the stops 2 and 3. Each system comprises two ramps 6 and 7 which meet in the upper part of the slide to form an edge 8. The ramp 6 opens into a groove 9 having an oblique ramp 10 and ending in a groove 11 located below the ramp 6 and limiting the upward travel of the slide. Above the groove 11 is a ramp 12 inclined in the same direction as the ramp 6 and terminating in a groove 13 in which the stop is hooked. Below the groove 13 is a ramp 14 inclined in the same direction as the ramp 10 and opening into a vertical groove 15 open upwards and ending in a ramp 16 inclined in the same direction as the ramp 6.
As for the ramp 7, it ends above the groove 9 'of the second system.
The device works as follows: let us first suppose that the stop 2 is located above the ramp 6. By pulling the slide upwards, the ramp 6 then abuts against the stop 2, which, by making turn the slide, engages in the groove 9 to finally abut in the groove 11.
By then releasing the slide, the latter goes down and the stop meets the ramp 12 and then engages in the hooking groove 13. The slide is hooked. The stop 3 follows exactly the same path in the second system.
To unhook the slider, it suffices to pull it upwards, the stop passing from the groove 13 against the ramp 14 then coming, following the rotation of the slide, against the end of the groove 15. By releasing then the slide the stop is released by the ramp 16, then comes to occupy a position which may be that shown in the drawing, or any other position following a rotation of the slide.
If, on the other hand, the stop comes to meet the ramp 7, the slide turns so that the stop is located above the channel 9 'or the ramp 6'.
For reasons of balance of forces, the device shown comprises two stops and two ramp systems, but it is obvious that the device can operate with a single system of ramps and a single stop, the development of the slide corresponding in this case to half of the development shown in fig. 1.
It is clear that as a variant it is possible to have a fixed slide and a movable tube. To illustrate this variant, it suffices to rotate the drawing from 1800.
It is also possible to provide more than two stops.
