Ampoule severing device The use of ampoules, more particularly medical ampoules, is spreading and is developing intensively. The opening of an ampoule is done manually, either by grasping the tip between the thumb and forefinger and breaking it where it has its weakest section, or by filing the tip to obtain a cut of section devoid of too prominent asperities.
In either case, the operator risks being injured by the shards of glass and, if he rubs the tip of the bulb with a file, he sometimes loses precious time.
The present invention, which aims to obviate these drawbacks, has as its object a device for separating bulbs, characterized in that it comprises a partitioned case formed of two contiguous parts and composed of three aligned compartments, one of the compartments of 'end and the intermediate compartment opening into a transverse opening of the case for the passage of the tip in the form of a drop of water of an ampoule to be severed, these compartments one containing the support of a severing member , the other a centering blade pushed by a coil spring and provided with a pusher allowing it to be moved away from the sectioning member.
the other end compartment being provided with a socket making it possible to break a bulb with a tapered end, said socket comprising a fixing flange and opening out to the outside of the case.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment and a variant of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 to 4 illustrate the entire apparatus, FIG. 1 being a view in elevation, FIG. 2 a plan view from below of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 a side view of the pusher side, and FIG. 4, similar to fig. 3, an exterior half-view of the left side of the case and, on the right side, a half-section, along the line IV-IV of FIG. 1.
Figs. 5 and 6 represent one of the halves of the case, FIG. 5 being a view in elevation and FIG. 6 a cross section, similar to that of the right side of FIG. 4.
Figs. 7 to 9, on a larger scale, show the pusher, FIG. 7 being a view in elevation, FIG. 8 a plan view of FIG. 7, and fig. 9 a side view.
Figs. 10 and 11 show the caster support, FIG. 10 being a view in elevation, and FIG. 11 a side view.
Figs. 12 and 13 illustrate a sectioning sleeve, FIG. 12 being a view in elevation, and FIG. 13 a side view.
Fig. 14, on the same scale as that of FIG. 4, partially represents a variant of the apparatus. The disconnecting device, in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 13, comprises a cloi sounded case 1, formed of two contiguous and symmetrical shells, namely: a shell 2 provided with assembly lugs 3 and a shell 4 comprising blind holes arranged at the locations corresponding to the lugs 3 .
Each shell is hollowed out for the subdivision of the case into compartments. The upper compartment 5 (FIG. 6) comprises a transverse opening 6 intended for the passage of the end piece 7, in the form of a drop of water, of an ampoule 8, shown in phantom in FIG. 3. This opening 6 communicates with a central compartment 9 containing a pusher 10 (Fig. 7 to 9). generally H-shaped.
The pusher 10 comprises a centering blade 11, of V-shaped longitudinal section, this blade being connected to a handle 12 with a ridged edge 13, said handle being located outside the case. The lower end of the blade 11 is provided with a boss 14 forming the upper seat of a coil spring 15 (fig. 1 to 3), the spring being housed in a blind hole 16 (fig. 5), said through hole in the central compartment 9.
The upper compartment 5 of the case communicates with another blind hole 17 (fig. 6) enclosing the support 18 (fig. 1 and 3) of a cutting wheel 19, the support and the wheel being shown in phantom lines. in fig. 10 and 11. The support 18, of rectangular section, is provided with a shoulder 20 penetrating into a blind hole 21 of the shell 2 (FIG. 6) and with a cavity 22 of the tines to receive a boss 23 (FIG. 4) arranged in the shell 4, not shown in the drawing.
The apparatus described operates in the following manner, the tip 7 of the ampoule 8 being introduced into the transverse opening 6 of the upper compartment in order to notch, the pusher 10 is moved in two opposite directions f, which has the effect of compressing and then relaxing the spring 15 and completely cutting the end piece 7 in the part located between the hollow of the centering blade 11 and the roller 19. By turning the bulb on its axis by approximately 360 and by pressing on the pusher 10, the end piece detaches from the bulb and falls by itself out of the case.
In the case where the ampoule is blunted, that is to say provided with a tapered tip, not shown in the drawing, and this ampoule contains a liquid intended to be absorbed orally, the compartment is used. lower 24 of the case 1, this compartment opening to the outside of the shells 2 and 4 via a passage 25. A socket 26 (fig. 12 and 13), provided with a fixing collar, is housed in the passage 25 .
By introducing the tapered end of an ampoule closing a liquid intended to be absorbed by the buccal route in the socket 26, the end piece is detached from the ampoule by exerting lateral pressure on the ampoule.
In a variant shown in fi-. 14, each shell of the case is provided on the respective assembly face with a half-support 27, 27 'for the shells 2, 4 respectively, this support being intended to receive the axis of the roller 19.
One could reproduce in each shell 2 and 4 half of said sleeve, such as that shown in FIG. 4.
It is obvious that the positions of the centering blade 11 and of the cutting wheel 19 could be reversed with respect to the axis of the transverse opening 6 by adapting the pusher 10 to this modification.
