Description
Method of manufacturing a retaining wall using slabs and wall obtained by this method The subject of the invention is a method of manufacturing a retaining wall, characterized by the fact that two face to face slabs intended to form the front and rear faces of the wall and that a filling mass is poured between said slabs.
Another subject of the invention is the retaining wall which can be obtained by implementing this method.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, a device for implementing the method according to the invention.
Fig. 1 illustrates an elevation of such a device; Fig. 2 is a section on II-II of FIG. 1. To manufacture a retaining wall by implementing the method according to the invention, firstly, by all known methods, two slabs 1 and 2 are formed, the first of which consists of a concrete plate 3 enveloping a trellis. metal 4 as well as the foot of composite beams 5, parallel to each other, projecting on the plate.
The second slab 2 is in the example shown constituted by an agglomerate of light aggregates 6 welded to each other by a relatively light binder so as to leave spaces between the aggregates, which makes the agglomerate obtained permeable to water.
In this mass of aggregates are embedded a trellis 7 as well as the base of beams 8 projecting from the slab and of similar construction to the beams 5 previously mentioned.
The face of the slab facing the inside of the wall to be formed is covered by a layer of attached waterproof material.
To proceed with the construction of a retaining wall comprising the slabs 1 and 2 described above, we begin by removing the earth that this wall is called upon to support so as to leave sufficient space behind the wall to be built.
Then casting a base 10 (fig. 1) having a base 11 against the two opposite sides of which are applied the two slabs 1 and 2 held in upright position by support bars 12 and 13 taking hold, by their upper end , on slabs 1 and 2, at two-thirds of their total height, and by their lower end on wooden beams 14 secured to the ground by means of stakes 15. Additional spacers 16 prevent any tilting of slabs 1 and 2.
The assembly of the slab 1 will preferably be carried out after placing against the slab 2 a metal frame 17 (fig. 2) which will be connected to the protruding bars of the base 11.
Concrete is then poured into the space between the slabs, these two slabs therefore forming shuttering at the same time that they will subsequently constitute the surface elements of the wall obtained.
When the concrete setting is complete, the bars 12 and 13 are removed as well as the spacers 16 and the beams 14.
It will then be possible to fill the empty space created to the right of slab 2 (fig. 1) with earth and thus give the wall its true supporting function.
The process described makes it possible to produce the walls with surprising speed, the usual formwork and stripping work being replaced by the simple assembly of the two slabs 1 and 2.
The main purpose of using the slab formed of an agglomerate permeable to water is to allow rainwater to flow along the wall without creating excessive pressure on this wall.
