Flame arrester in the oxygen and the fuel gas supply line of a welding or cutting torch with conventional welding and cutting torch Maneuvers had to be accepted that flashback could occur if the burner mouthpiece was overheated, damaged or clogged.
Such a kickback is propagated in the oxygen or fuel gas feed hose through the strap handle, where fires and thus burns to the skin of the welder and larger surrounding fires can occur through at least these hoses.
In order to avoid such sources of danger or at least the inadequacies and disadvantages of autogenous welding systems and equipment, flame arresters and non-return devices are built into the two gas hose lines or upstream of the existing pressure reducers. However, this does not prevent the risk of a hose fire behind the torch handle.
In contrast, the flame arrester according to the present invention is in two parts in the oxygen and fuel gas supply lines of a welding or cutting torch and the parts are built into the burner handle independently of one another, the one part built into the oxygen supply line consisting of a pressed, porous sintered hollow body with a bottom and is inserted into a top section and the other part, which is sensitive to the fuel gas supply line, consists of a pressed, porous sintered cylinder ring.
By means of the present invention, it is sufficient that in the event of a flashback, the flame is braked and cooled by the two locking bodies built into the burner handle by capillary action to such an extent that it suffocates.
One embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawing in a longitudinal section through the burner handle, the attached gas regulating valves being omitted.
The burner handle 1 has the oxygen supply line 1 'and the fuel gas supply line 1 ", furthermore the welding insert 2 with the mixing chamber 2'. The handle and welding insert are screwed together through the connection nipple 3 in which the injector 4 and the top piece 5 are inserted The latter is movable and has a tight ball seat at both ends.
A sintered body 6 which tapers conically in the flow direction and has a bottom 6 'at the tapered end is inserted as a flame barrier into the oxygen line 1' and thus in the top piece 5, but it can also be cylindrical. This body 6 consists e.g. made of bronze, is porous and also acts as a filter. Placed on the top piece 5 and clamped in the connection nipple 3, a sintered body 7 in the form of a cylindrical sleeve is also present as a flame arrester in the fuel gas supply line 1 ″.
This body 7 consists e.g. made of chromium-nickel steel, is also porous and is pressed onto the two feed openings or gas passages. For example, the body 6 has an inlet and an outlet diameter of 6 or 5 mm, and a length of 18 mm, the body 7 an inner and an outer diameter of 9 or 15 mm and a length of 9 mm.
